We propose a new concept of the vertical exciplex-type organic light emitting structure with multilevel metallization that can serve as light-to-electricity-to-light convertor. The superimposition of operation and control voltages allows to tune the spectrum of the emitted light from blue to green, which is achieved by varying the potential applied to the device terminals or by illuminating the integrated organic Schottky diode employing a near-infrared absorbing titanyl phthalocyanine (TiOPc) dye. We have found that the structures based on ITO/tri(9-hexylcarbazol-3-yl)amine/Ca/Al fabricated by means of vacuum deposition generate acoustic oscillations when pulse voltage is applied. Impedance spectroscopy study indicates the presence of significant inductive response, which is the result of significant energy barriers at the semiconductor-metal interface. We assume that a very heterogeneous spatial distribution of the electric field at the organic/metal interface and the noncoplanarity of the molecules cause the electrostriction effect in the structures. Thin films of the α polymorphic modification of a nickel phthalocyanine (NiPc) which possess a high sensitivity to actions of gaseous media are deposited by the thermal vacuum deposition method. Indium tin oxide (ITO) continuous thin films on glass are used as substrates. On the basis of these films, the barrier structure ITO/NiPc/Al has been formed. We have found that there exists the electrogeneration effect in the ITO/NiPc/Al structure under the action of the gaseous ammonia medium. The appearance of a short circuit current and an open circuit voltage is observed only in the ITO/NiPc/Al structures that can be explained by redox reactions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The effect of an integrated polymer on the luminescence characteristics of porous silicon (PS)-conducting polymer (CP) heterostructures has been studied. Both n-(100) and p-type (111) PS has been employed in order to prepare the heterostructures. To obtain the integrated polymer layers (polyaniline, polymethoxyaniline, polyphenylacetylene, poly-para-phenylene, poly-N-epoxy-propylcarbazol), the methods of electrochemical polymerization, vacuum deposition, and spin coating have been used. The obtained structures were studied using atom force microscopy and were examined as to the capability to photoluminescence (PL) and cathodoluminescence (CL). It has been found that the presence of a CP layer on the PS surface preserves the "red" PL, but weakens it to 50-90%. The CL spectra of the obtained heterostructures allow us to suggest their capability of electroluminescence in the visible region of the spectrum. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The effect of vacuum deposition temperature on the structure and electrooptical properties of polyaniline (PAN) thin films has been studied. In ellipsometry investigations, it has been found that films deposited at 300-400°C at a pressure of 1 × 10-6 Torr with 20-40 nm thickness possess an optical anisotropy. The films obtained at a deposition temperature of 450°C are characterized by a high electrochemical and electrooptical activity. They have an improved morphology and oxidation-reduction stability as compared to those of the films formed by the electrochemical polymerization method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The investigation of heterojunctions based on conductive polymer PPA or PAN and InSe has been reported. The temperature dependence of the saturation current was carried out to obtain the barrier height of the investigated structures. The barrier height ço0 has been found to be equal to 0.6eVand 0.83eV for InSe-PPA and InSe- PAN, respectively. For the InSe-PPA heterostructure, the higher power conversion efficiency than that for the InSe-PAN hetero structure at a light intensity of 50mW/cm² has been obtained. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
