Abstract

The article discusses a study which shows that the genetic combination frequency could be increased by partial mutation of the gene using rice as a model crop. Topics discussed include the importance of plant fertility for genetic analysis, observation that the truncated ZEP1 protein can form discrete foci and short stretches in 95% of meiocytes and findings that partial loss of function of the rice Synaptonemal Complex (SC) reduces the strength of genetic interference.
