A response of the author to a review of his book "The Left Case Against the EU," which appeared in "Monthly Review: An Independent Socialist Magazine," is presented. The article examines the financialization of capitalism, highlighting the 1966 book "Monopoly Capital: An Essay on the American Economic and Social Order" by Paul Baran and Paul Sweezy.
