CONSPIRACIES ,UNITED States politics & government ,UNITED States social conditions - Abstract
The article focuses on political and social issues of the U.S. It states that defenders of indicted Iran/contra co-conspirator Caspar Weinberger are portraying special prosecutor Lawrence Walsh's strike as a sleazy, last-gasp attempt to justify the three-year, $30 million investigation by defaming a decent man. It also reports that on June 9, Los Angeles Federal District Judge A. Wallace Tashima announced a decision in the case of "N.E.A. Four." In the meantime, Judge Tashima's fine opinion, well reasoned and forty-four pages long, should put a crimp in the disposition of the acting head of the National Endowment for the Arts, Arine-Imelda Radice, to vault past her predecessor, John Frohnmayer and make the endowment into an agency for the support exclusively of art that is politically or officially pleasing.
