Abstract
The article presents the findings of the study by Mikhail Noginov of Norfolk State University in Virginia and his colleagues which examines whether nanoparticles might serve as nanometer-scale resonators working at visible wavelengths. The researchers use visible light to excite free electrons in hybrid nanoparticles and found that the vibrating electrons form oscillations called surface plasmons can support stimulated emission.
