The article examines the role of Cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL) in the immune system. It states that the said killer T cells are effective in the body's defence against a range of viral, bacterial and parasitic infections. It suggests that the presence of these killer cells in the circulation might be sufficient for their entry into infected tissues. It cites a study in which the researchers have argued that the simple presence of CTLs in the circulation can no longer be considered a guarantee to their access to peripheral locations for successful infection control.
