The article discusses the results of a 2010 survey on the views of U.S. service members on the war in Afghanistan. Results indicate that the armed forces tend to be pessimistic about the mission in Afghanistan and are divided on how they perceive the performance of President Barack Obama as commander in chief. It adds that 40% of the respondents believe that the Afghan military will need as long as five years before it will be capable of replacing U.S. and allied troops. It notes that nearly half of respondents preferred deployment to Iraq.
