Reports on the status of the water pipeline tap request by the Hasidic community of Kiryas Joel in Orange County, New York. Aim of the request to provide water to the growing community of Kiryas Joel by connecting to the New York City water supply line; Concern by the county of the impact of the tap on adding fuel to the rapid growth of the community on the county's natural resources and potential political, economic and social influence due to its population size; Recognition of the community's propensity to vote as a bloc giving it political clout unmatched by its neighboring communities; Citation of the efforts of the community to annex real estate to meet its growing demands.
