To the Editor: Regarding ''An Up- scale Refuge Near Mexico City'' (Feb. 20): I am a native New Yorker who stumbled across Valle de Bra- vo, Mexico, a few years ago, and be- cause of all the charms described in the superb portrait of the town, I ended up moving there. There was just one omission, however. All you have to do is look into the sky on any afternoon: the town is a mecca for paragliders and hang gliders. The town has some of the best flying conditions in the world. Indeed, Valle de Bravo hosted the paraglid- ing world championships in 2009. On weekends, it looks like we're being invaded. Stanton Barrett, a Hollywood stuntman with more than 200 films and television series to his credit, and probably as many broken bones, torn muscles and assorted injuries, is trying to prove himself on auto racing's biggest stage as a rookie at the Indianapolis 500. ''I've never experienced something like this,'' Barrett said Tuesday at the start of the two-day Indy rookie tests. Barrett, 36, also competes in extreme skiing, motorcycling, paragliding and surfing. He began racing in the Nascar Nationwide series in 1992 and has driven in almost 200 races in that series and in Nascar's elite Sprint Cup series.
