Abstract

The article discusses the efforts to release convicted spy Jonathan Jay Pollard. The request of Israeli leaders and Pollard himself for commutation of his life sentence is discussed, noting that he was convicted in 1985 for selling classified U.S. documents to Israel. Former U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) director James Woolsey has mentioned that he would support Pollard's release on the conditions that Pollard show remorse and renounce any financial profits he has made from his case.
