This article describes the environmental noise policy in Turkey. In 1930, Turkey's police were given authority to deal with excessive noise complaints. A study to develop a noise control regulation began in 1983 and the regulation became law in 1986. This law was replaced by the new policy in 2005. Turkey believes that to properly protect the environment from unreasonable noise they must educate personnel involved in noise control, approve and control noise insulation of buildings, prepare noise maps showing areas with the most noise, develop action plans to improve the environmental noise quality in such areas, restructure noise control engineering degree curricula at universities, and share noise control experiences with other countries to help develop a global solution to noise pollution.
