Information about several papers discussed at the Ophthalmic Devices Panel Meeting held at Gaitherburg, Maryland on April 25, 2008. During the event, participants discussed the post-market experience of patients of laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK). They evaluate the stories of angry patients who experienced discomfort to unfulfilled expectations from LASIK.
Information about several papers discussed at the American Academy of Ophthalmology annual meeting in Maryland. The event presented findings from a small restrospective study of the prevalence of periorbital soft-tissue infections in non-hospitalized patients. The meeting featured several speakers including Dr. Brett A. Levinson of Wills Eye at Jefferson, Philadelphia.

The article reports that the biennial World Ophthalmology Congress in Sao Paolo, Brazil. The American Academy of Ophthalmology will host the global meeting in 2012. 8,000 people from more than 100 countries are registered to attend and more than 4,000 scientific papers were submitted. There are 400 sessions scheduled.
