Metabolic syndrome (MS) is composed of obesity, hyperglycemia-insulin resistance, hypertension and dyslipidemia. As a result of lifestyle changes, the incidence of MS has increased especially in Western countries. MS has become an important public health problem. For many years this disorder's cardiovascular and endocrinological relations were emphasized. But in recent years MS is found to be related with the pathogenesis of benign prostate hyperplasia/lower urinary tract symptoms, prostate cancer, erectile dysfunction, male infertility, urinary system stone disease, urinary incontinence.
