Abstract
This article presents an examination into the visual aspects of the poem "The DNA Molecule" by the American writer May Swenson. Details are given outlining how the work utilized layout effects to construct the poems visually, such as using a double-helix shape. Discussion is offered regarding Swenson's engagement with visual form in the context of the larger 20th century conventions.
