Objective: We analyzed the nomophobia concept to develop the "Fırat Nomophobia Scale" to determine the level of nomophobia in individuals aged 15–65 years. Design and Measures: A linguistically and psychometrically validated trial form consisting of 13 statements was applied to a sample of 678 individuals (69% women). Results: The "Nomophobia Scale" that we developed consisted of a single dimension and eight items, explicating 55.9% of the variance concerning nomophobia. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that the Fırat Nomophobia Scale is an economical scale with a low number of items and high variance. In addition, it provides valid and reliable measurements. Objectives: Assess the association between nomophobia and temperaments in the Lebanese population. Methods: The cross‐sectional study was conducted between January and July 2019 (N = 2260). Results: A total of 1089 of the participants (48.3%) appeared to have moderate nomophobia while 349 (15.5%) were found to exhibit severe nomophobia. Multivariable analysis showed that higher hyperthymic temperament (β = −0.34) was associated with less nomophobia, whereas higher irritable temperament (β = 0.43) was associated with more nomophobia. Practical implications: The findings obtained from our study showed that a more irritable temperament was significantly associated with a more severe nomophobia, while hyperthymic temperament was associated with less nomophobia. They open up new perspectives for the evaluation of the temperaments among nomophobics with a better focus on the personality model and how they can predict nomophobia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: In this study, some personal and smartphone usage characteristics will be examined as the determinants of nomophobia, and its relationship with personality traits will be tested. Design and Methods: The sample of the descriptive and correlative study consisted of 669 nurses working in six hospitals in Istanbul. The data collection tool consisted of three parts: Descriptive information form, Nomophobia Scale, and Five‐Factor Personality Traits Scale. Findings: There was a relationship between nurses' nomophobia levels and neuroticism scores (r = 0.201; p < 0.001). The relationships nomophobia levels with other personality features were found to be either significant but negative, and very low power or statistically non‐significant. Practice Implications: As a result of the research, the prevalence of nomophobia increases due to the use of smartphones, especially the younger generation is at risk for nomophobia and that the personality traits of the people do not have a strong explanatory on the levels of nomophobia. Purpose: This descriptive study was conducted to determine the relationship between nomophobia level and anxiety severity among university students. Design and Methods: The study was completed with a total of 745 students. A descriptive questionnaire and the nomophobia questionnaire and measure of worry severity. Descriptive statistics, correlation analyses were used. Finding: It was found positive correlation was determined between the nomophobia level and severity of anxiety. Practical Implications: İndividuals with nomophobia should be given the necessary assistance before the current situation worsens. Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the relationship between nursing students' digital addiction and smartphone addiction levels and nomophobia. Methods: This is a descriptive, correlational study. It was conducted with 215 nursing students in a university located in northeastern Turkey. Results: A positive and moderate correlation was found between students' nomophobia levels with smartphone addiction and digital addiction levels (p < 0.05). Analysis of the regression coefficients determined that smartphone addiction (β = 0.765; p < 0.01) had a significant positive effect on nomophobia. Practice Implications: In conclusion, nursing students should seek professional psychological help in developing health and life behaviors, such as sports, healthy eating, and sleep, to reduce nomophobia. Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate whether preservice teachers' nomophobia levels, sense of loneliness and adjustment to university life vary based on their demographic characteristics. Additionally, regression analyses were carried out to determine whether their sense of loneliness, nomophobia levels, and adjustment to university life were predictors of each other. Design and Methods: In this quantitative study, the cross‐sectional survey research model was used. A total of 234 preservice teachers, 65 of whom were studying at the elementary mathematics department, 81 of whom were studying at the preschool education department, and 88 of whom were studying at the science education department, participated in this study. Independent‐samples t test, one‐way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and simple linear regression analyses were used to analyze the quantitative data. Findings: The main conclusions from this study were that (a) the students with the highest sense of loneliness were the students of the elementary mathematics department, the students with the highest level of nomophobia were the science education students, and the students who adjusted the most to university life were the preschool education students. (b) There were no significant differences between the 1st and 2nd year preservice teachers in terms of their sense of loneliness, nomophobia levels, and adjustment to university life. (c) There were statistically significant differences between the mean total nomophobia scores of the male and female students in favor of the females especially in the "losing connectedness" and "not being able to access information" subscales of nomophobia. (d) A statistically significant difference was found between the preservice teachers whose mothers were high school and university graduates in terms of their academic adjustment in favor of the preservice teachers with mothers who had university degrees. (e) The preservice teachers, who stated that their relationship with their family was very good, had higher levels of sense of loneliness, mobile phone addiction, and adjustment to university life than the others. The results were statistically significant in all total scores of the loneliness scale and dimensions except for the dimensions of nomophobia. (f) The students who were hopeful for the future had a high sense of loneliness and adjustment to university life. It was also determined that the students who were desperate for their future had high mobile phone addiction levels. Apart from nomophobia and its dimensions and the social adjustment dimension of university life, statistically significant differences were found between the hopeful and hopeless students in terms of their sense of loneliness and adjustment to university life. (g) Statistically significant mean differences were found between the students who were generally satisfied with and those that were not satisfied with their life in terms of their sense of loneliness and adjustment to university life with its all dimensions in favor of the satisfied ones. (h) The preservice teachers who lived alone at home had a higher sense of loneliness and better adjustment to university life. It was also noteworthy that the students living in dormitories had higher nomophobia levels than the others. (i) A linear relationship was found between the students' sense of loneliness and adjustment to university life, and sense of loneliness was a significant predictor of adjustment to university life. Practical Implications: Determining students' nomophobia levels, sense of loneliness, and adjustment to university life would be beneficial in bringing students who have difficulty adapting to new living environments into social life. Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the relationship between nomophobia, fear of missing out (FoMO), and perceived work overload (PWO) among nurses in Turkey. Design and Methods: This descriptive study was carried out with 178 nurses. In the study, the Nomophobia Questionnaire, FoMO scale, and PWO scale were used. Findings: There was a positive and significant relationship between nomophobia, FoMO, and PWO variables. The nomophobia and FoMO independent variables accounted for 6% of the PWO‐dependent variable. Purpose: The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between student nurses' nomophobia levels and obesity and self‐esteem. Design and Methods: This study is a descriptive‐correlational type study. This study conducted 607 nursing students. Data were collected with "Personal Information Form," "Nomophobia Questionnaire (NMP‐Q)," and "The Self Esteem Rating Scale‐Short Form." Findings: As a result of the research, it was determined that the students had moderate nomophobia. There was no significant relationship between nomophobia and obesity and self‐esteem. Practice Implications: It was determined that especially when they are bored, the rate of using smartphones is high, and the use of smartphones harms their lives.
