The paper dwells upon the crisis of literary sociology in Romanian criticism in the decade(s) after the demise of Socialist Realism. Viewing it as a paradox within the research commandments of a communist regime, the study relates this crisis both to the decline of the Marxist-Leninist frame in post-Stalinist, Soviet-emancipated Romania, and to the rising fame of French Structuralism. Some relevant case studies are chosen to highlight the development of Romanian sociological criticism, its difficulty to make amends with the dogmatic past and to swiftly move on to the next level. The present paper intends to discuss the issue of an "internal" literary history and the debate upon this topic in post-war Romanian literary criticism. We shall analyse the methodological influence and solutions suggested by structuralism or stylistics in critics' attempts, starting with the 1970s, to remap Romanian literary history in terms of larger typologies or genres. On the other hand, we shall discuss the features of the Romanian critical environment which trigger the synchronic approaches, and their re-evaluating consequences in the local literature. This study has two main objectives. First, it aims at reflecting on the status of immortality as a cultural product, and, thus, analysing the mechanisms by which immortality can be seen, given its tight relationship with death, as a symbolic construct as well. Second, it examines the non-religious symbolic construction of the continuation of existence in/through nature. The role of this second section is to deconstruct this myth from a point of view that merges modern thanatology with the sociology of knowledge, searching to discover and investigate the social and cultural issues entailed by immortality-through-nature. More precisely, it deals with the classic model of the continuation-through-nature, as well as with a different construction of immortality through nature -- paradoxical and far-fetched -- a new form indebted to the scientific discoveries of the last decades: the positivisation of death. The starting point of this essay and meditation is the process through which I planed my exhibition entitled Temporary Identities. Time influences the creation of an identity and the identity of creation on different stages -- during the process of creation and after that. The identity of a painting is a renewable material, but it all starts with a few elements the painter leaves to viewer's choice and inner eye to reach and relate to. The study analyses articles from Romanian librarianship periodicals with content-analyis methods known from statistics-bibliometry and sociology. This is not only a thematic and statistic analysis; writings are considered from the point of view of their theoretical level. We have defined six categories: chronicle, commentary, documentary synthesis, polemical essay, study and essay. Besides pointing out the dominant topics in this literature, the statistic analysis also shows their variation. It becomes clear that Romanian librarianship literature has very few polemics, studies, essays and documentary syntheses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
