1. Triple Higgs coupling effect onh0→bb¯and h 0 → τ + τ − in the 2HDM

Abstract: We study the one-loop electroweak radiative corrections to h 0 → b b ¯ and h 0 → τ + τ − in the framework of two Higgs doublet Model (2HDM). We evaluate the deviation of these couplings from their Standard Model (SM) values. h 0 → b b ¯ and h 0 → τ + τ − may receives large contribution from triple Higgs couplings h 0 H 0 H 0 , H 0 h 0 h 0 , h 0 A 0 A 0 and h 0 H + H − which are absent in the Standard Model. It is found that in 2HDM, these corrections could be significant and may reach more than 12% for not tow heavy H 0 or A 0 or H ± . We also study the ratio of branching ratios R = B R ( h 0 → b b ¯ ) / B R ( h 0 → τ + τ − ) of Higgs boson decays which could be used to disentangle SM from other models such as 2HDM.

Abstract: Phenomenological AdS/QCD models, like hard wall and soft wall, provide hadronic mass spectra in reasonable consistency with experimental and (or) lattice results. These simple models are inspired in the AdS/CFT correspondence and assume that gauge/ gravity duality holds in a scenario where conformal invariance is broken through the introduction of an energy scale. Another important property of hadrons: the decay constant, can also be obtained from these models. However, a consistent formulation of an AdS/QCD model that reproduces the observed behavior of decay constants of vector meson excited states is still lacking. In particular: for radially excited states of heavy vector mesons, the experimental data lead to decay constants that decrease with the radial excitation level. We show here that a modified framework of soft wall AdS/QCD involving an additional dimensionfull parameter, associated with an ultraviolet energy scale, provides decay constants decreasing with radial excitation level. In this version of the soft wall model the two point function of gauge theory operators is calculated at a finite position of the anti-de Sitter space radial coordinate., Shorter (letter) version. Abstract: © 2015 The Authors. While the 12C(α,γ)16O reaction plays a central role in nuclear astrophysics, the cross section at energies relevant to hydrostatic helium burning is too small to be directly measured in the laboratory. The β-delayed α spectrum of 16N can be used to constrain the extrapolation of the E1 component of the S-factor, however, with this approach the resulting S-factor becomes strongly correlated with the assumed βα branching ratio. We have remeasured the βα branching ratio by implanting 16N ions in a segmented Si detector and counting the number of βα decays relative to the number of implantations. Our result, 1.49(5)×10-5, represents a 24% increase compared to the accepted value and implies an increase of ≈10% in the extrapolated S-factor. Abstract: Late time properties of moving relativistic particles are studied. Within the proper relativistic treatment of the problem we find decay curves of such particles and we show that late time deviations of the survival probability of these particles from the exponential form of the decay law, that is the transition times region between exponential and non-expo\-nen\-tial form of the survival amplitude, occur much earlier than it follows from the classical standard approach boiled down to replace time $t$ by $t/\gamma_{L}$ (where $\gamma_{L}$ is the relativistic Lorentz factor) in the formula for the survival probability. The consequence is that fluctuations of the corresponding decay curves can appear much earlier and much more unstable particles have a chance to survive up to these times or later. It is also shown that fluctuations of the instantaneous energy of the moving unstable particles has a similar form as the fluctuations in the particle rest frame but they are seen by the observer in his rest system much earlier than one could expect replacing $t$ by $t/\gamma_{L}$ in the corresponding expressions for this energy and that the amplitude of these fluctuations can be even larger than it follows from the standard approach. All these effects seems to be important when interpreting some accelerator experiments with high energy unstable particles and the like (possible connections of these effects with GSI anomaly are analyzed) and some results of astrophysical observations., Comment: 15 pages, 3 figures

Abstract: We have searched for a light vector boson U, the possible carrier of a "dark force", with the KLOE detector at the DA Phi NE e(+)e(-) collider, motivated by astrophysical evidence for the presence of dark matter in the Universe. Using e(+)e(-) collisions collected with an integrated luminosity of 239.3 pb(-1), we look for a dimuon mass peak in the reaction e(+)e(-) -> mu(+)mu(-)gamma, corresponding to the decay U -> mu(+)mu(-). We find no evidence for a U vector boson signal. We set a 90% CL upper limit for the mixing parameter squared between the photon and the U boson of 1.6 x 10(-5) to 8.6 x 10(-7) for the mass region 520 < m(U) < 980 MeV.

Abstract: A study of the dynamics of the rare decay K ± → π ± γ γ has been performed on a sample of 232 decay candidates, with an estimated background of 17.4 ± 1.1 events, collected by the NA62 experiment at CERN in 2007. The results are combined with those from a measurement conducted by the NA48/2 Collaboration at CERN. The combined model-independent branching ratio in the kinematic range z = ( m γ γ / m K ) 2 > 0.2 is B MI ( z > 0.2 ) = ( 0.965 ± 0.063 ) × 10 − 6 , and the combined branching ratio in the full kinematic range assuming a Chiral Perturbation Theory description is B ( K π γ γ ) = ( 1.003 ± 0.056 ) × 10 − 6 . A detailed comparison of the results with the previous measurements is performed.

7. Possible emission of cosmic X- and γ-rays by unstable particles at late times

Abstract: Not all astrophysical mechanisms of the emission of electromagnetic radiation including $X$-- and $\gamma$-- rays coming from the space are clear. We find that charged unstable particles as well as neutral unstable particles with non--zero magnetic moment which live sufficiently long may emit electromagnetic radiation. This new mechanism is connected with the properties of unstable particles at the post exponential time region. Analyzing the transition time region between exponential and non-exponential form of the survival amplitude it is found that the instantaneous energy of the unstable particle can take very large values, much larger than the energy of this state for times from the exponential time region. Basing on the results obtained for the model considered, it is shown that this purely quantum mechanical effect may be responsible for causing unstable particles to emit electromagnetic--, $X$-- or $\gamma$--rays at some time intervals from the transition time regions., Comment: 15 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: The NA48/2 experiment at CERN collected two data samples with minimum bias trigger conditions in 2003 and 2004. A measurement of the rate and dynamic properties of the rare decay K ± → π ± γ γ from these data sets based on 149 decay candidates with an estimated background of 15.5 ± 0.7 events is reported. The model-independent branching ratio in the kinematic range z = ( m γ γ / m K ) 2 > 0.2 is measured to be B MI ( z > 0.2 ) = ( 0.877 ± 0.089 ) × 10 − 6 , and the branching ratio in the full kinematic range assuming a particular Chiral Perturbation Theory description to be B ( K π γ γ ) = ( 0.910 ± 0.075 ) × 10 − 6 .

Abstract: We have carried out an experiment to search for a neutron-rich hypernucleus, 6 H, by the 6 Li(π − , K + ) reaction at pπ− =1.2 GeV/c. The obtained missing-mass spectrum with an estimated energy resolution of 3.2 MeV (FWHM) showed no peak structure corresponding to the 6 H hypernucleus neither below nor above the 4 H+2n particle decay threshold. An upper limit of the production cross section for the bound 6 H hypernucleus was estimated to be 1.2 nb/sr at 90% confidence level.

Abstract: The presently world largest data sample for π 0 → γ e + e − decays studies containing nearly 5 × 10 5 events was collected using the WASA detector at COSY. A search for a dark photon U produced in the π 0 → γ U → γ e + e − decay from the p p → p p π 0 reaction was carried out. An upper limit on the square of the U − γ mixing strength parameter ϵ 2 of 5 × 10 − 6 at 90% CL was obtained for the mass range 20 MeV M U 100 MeV . This result together with other recent experimental limits significantly reduces the M U vs. ϵ 2 parameter space which could explain the presently seen deviation between the Standard Model prediction and the direct measurement of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon.

Abstract: To ascertain the new boson with mass near 125 GeV observed recently by ATLAS and CMS Collaborations to be the Standard Model Higgs, and to determine its intrinsic properties, more measurements on its various decay channels are still necessary. In this work we reanalyze the processes of the Standard Model Higgs radiative decays to lepton pairs. We find that when photon and leptons are hard, that is possessing energies larger than 1 GeV, the branching fractions of H → l l ¯ γ ( l = e or μ ) processes are about two-thirds of the H → μ + μ − process. Since the lepton pair yields of the radiative processes mainly come from the Z-boson conversion, which will greatly suppress the backgrounds, we believe the signal should be observable in presently accumulated data or in the next run of the LHC experiment, provided the Standard Model Higgs is indeed light.

Abstract: A model that gives family gauge bosons with an inverted mass hierarchy is proposed, stimulated by Sumino's cancellation mechanism for the QED radiative correction to the charged lepton masses. The Sumino mechanism cannot straightforwardly be applied to SUSY models because of the non-renormalization theorem. In this talk, an alternative model which is applicable to a SUSY model is proposed. It is essential that family gauge boson masses $m(A_i^j)$ in this model is given by an inverted mass hierarchy $m(A_i^i) \propto 1/\sqrt{m_{ei}}$, in contrast to $m(A_i^i) \propto \sqrt{m_{ei}}$ in the original Sumino model. Phenomenological meaning of the model is also investigated. Abstract: We revisited the decaying dark matter (DDM) model, in which one collisionless particle decays early into two collisionless particles, that are potentially dark matter particles today. The effect of DDM will be manifested in the cosmic microwave background (CMB) and structure formation. With a systematic modification of CMB calculation tool \texttt{camb}, we can numerically calculated this effect, and compare it to observations. Further Markov Chain Monte Carlo \texttt{cosmomc} runnings update the constraints in that model: the free streaming length $\lambda_{FS}\lesssim0.5$Mpc for nonrelativistic decay, and $((M_{DDM}/keV) Y)^2 (T_d/yr)\lesssim5\times10^{-5}$ for relativistic decay., Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures

Abstract: This Letter reports a measurement of the muon charge asymmetry from W bosons produced in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV with the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The asymmetry is measured in the W -> mu nu decay mode as a function of the muon pseudorapidity using a data sample corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 31 pb(-1). The results are compared to predictions based on next-to-leading order calculations with various parton distribution functions. Abstract: The cross sections for exclusive D + D − and D 0 D ¯ 0 meson pair production in peripheral nucleus–nucleus collisions are calculated and several differential distributions are presented. The calculation of the elementary γ γ → D D ¯ cross section is done within the heavy-quark approximation and in the Brodsky–Lapage formalism with distribution amplitudes describing recent CLEO data on leptonic D + decay. Realistic (Fourier transform of charge density) charge form factors of nuclei are used to generate photon flux factors. Absorption effects are discussed and quantified. The cross sections of a few nb are predicted for RHIC and of a few hundreds of nb for LHC with details depending on the approximation made in calculating elementary γ γ → D D ¯ cross sections.

Abstract: We search for lepton-flavor-violating tau-> ell V^0 decays, where ell is an electron or muon and V^0 is one of the vector mesons rho^0, phi, omega, K*0 and K*0-bar. We use 854 fb^{-1} of data collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e^+e^- collider. No evidence for a signal is found in any decay mode, and we obtain 90% confidence level upper limits on the individual branching fractions in the range (1.2-8.4)*10^{-8}., 13 pages, 5 figures, submitted to Phys. Abstract: A sample of 3120 K ± → π ± μ + μ − decay candidates with ( 3.3 ± 0.7 ) % background contamination has been collected by the NA48/2 experiment at the CERN SPS, allowing a detailed study of the decay properties. The branching ratio was measured to be BR = ( 9.62 ± 0.25 ) × 10 − 8 . The form factor W ( z ) , where z = ( M μ μ / M K ) 2 , was parameterized according to several models. In particular, the slope of the linear form factor W ( z ) = W 0 ( 1 + δ z ) was measured to be δ = 3.11 ± 0.57 . Upper limits of 2.9 × 10 − 2 and 2.3 × 10 − 2 on possible charge asymmetry and forward–backward asymmetry were established at 90% CL. An upper limit BR ( K ± → π ∓ μ ± μ ± ) 1.1 × 10 − 9 was established at 90% CL for the rate of the lepton number violating decay.

Abstract: Tau lepton emission in two-nucleon disappearance reactions from within nuclei which conserve baryon number minus lepton number (B-L) is considered. It is shown that some existing limits on proton decay channels and two-nucleon disappearance reactions resulting in electrons and muons can be applied to $\Delta B=\Delta L=2$ decays involving $\tau$ leptons. For the two-nucleon disappearance channel $np\to\tau^+ \overline\nu_\tau$ the estimated limit for the partial mean life is $\frac{\tau}{Br}>1\times10^{30}$ yrs based on results from the IMB3 experiment. Re-analysis of existing data and future experiments could result in higher sensitivity for two-nucleon disappearance modes involving $\tau$ lepton final states., Comment: 7 pages, 0 figures

Abstract: The hierarchy among the radiative γ(π0, η, η′) decay channels for the ψ′ looks quite different from the J/ψ one. The fate of charm, namely an ultimate survival of on-shell cc¯ intermediate states, might give us the clue for this new puzzle in exclusive charmonium decays. A similar self-preservation has already been invoked in the past to solve the so-called ρπ puzzle.

Abstract: The decay asymmetries of the weak radiative hyperon decays Ξ 0 → Λ γ and Ξ 0 → Σ 0 γ have been measured with high precision using data of the NA48/1 experiment at CERN. From about 52 000 Ξ 0 → Λ γ and 15 000 Ξ 0 → Σ 0 γ decays, we obtain for the decay asymmetries α Ξ 0 → Λ γ = − 0.704 ± 0.019 stat ± 0.064 syst and α Ξ 0 → Σ 0 γ = − 0.729 ± 0.030 stat ± 0.076 syst , respectively. These results are in good agreement with previous experiments, but more precise.

Abstract: We report a new measurement of the decay Ω − → Ξ − π + π − with 76 events and a first observation of the decay Ω ¯ + → Ξ ¯ + π + π − with 24 events, yielding a combined branching ratio ( 3.74 − 0.56 + 0.67 ) × 10 − 4 . This represents a factor 25 increase in statistics over the best previous measurement. No evidence is seen for CP violation, with B ( Ω − → Ξ − π + π − ) = 4.04 − 0.71 + 0.83 × 10 − 4 and B ( Ω ¯ + → Ξ ¯ + π + π − ) = 3.15 − 0.89 + 1.12 × 10 − 4 . Contrary to theoretical expectation, we see little evidence for the decays Ω − → Ξ 1530 ∗ 0 π − and Ω ¯ + → Ξ ¯ 1530 ∗ 0 π + and place a 90% C.L. upper limit on the combined branching ratio B ( Ω − ( Ω ¯ + ) → Ξ 1530 ∗ 0 ( Ξ ¯ 1530 ∗ 0 ) π ∓ ) 7.0 × 10 − 5 .

Abstract: We report results from an experiment on the decay of the high-K isomers in 254No. We have been able to establish the decay from the known high-lying four-quasiparticle isomer, which we assign as a K π = 16 + state at an excitation energy of E x = 2.928 ( 3 ) MeV . The decay of this state passes through a rotational band based on a previously unobserved state at E x = 2.012 ( 2 ) MeV , which we suggest is based on a two-quasineutron configuration with K π = 10 + . This state in turn decays to a rotational band based on the known K π = 8 − isomer, which we infer must also have a two quasineutron configuration. We are able to assign many new gamma-rays associated with the decay of the K π = 8 − isomer, including the identification of a highly K-forbidden Δ K = 8 E1 transition to the ground-state band. These results provide valuable new information on the orbitals close to the Fermi surface, pairing correlations, deformation and rotational response, and K-conservation in nuclei of the deformed trans-fermium region.

Abstract: We point out at the peculiarity of B --> mu nu decay, namely the enhancement of the soft photon events which originate from the structure dependent part of the B --> mu nu gamma amplitude. This may be a dominant source of systematic uncertainty and compromise the projected experimental uncertainty on Gamma(B --> mu nu). We show that the effect of these soft photons can be controlled if the experimental cut on identification of soft photons is lowered and especially if the better resolution in identifying the momentum of muon emerging from B --> mu nu, is made. A lattice QCD computation of the relevant form factors would be highly helpful for a better numerical control over the structure dependent soft photon emission., 16 pages, 3 figures

Abstract: We have studied the ϕ → a 0 ( 980 ) γ process with the KLOE detector at the Frascati ϕ-factory DAΦNE by detecting the ϕ → η π 0 γ decays in the final states with η → γ γ and η → π + π − π 0 . We have measured the branching ratios for both final states: Br ( ϕ → η π 0 γ ) = ( 7.01 ± 0.10 ± 0.20 ) × 10 − 5 and ( 7.12 ± 0.13 ± 0.22 ) × 10 − 5 , respectively. We have also extracted the a 0 ( 980 ) mass and its couplings to η π 0 , K + K − , and to the ϕ meson from the fit of the η π 0 invariant mass distributions using different phenomenological models.

Abstract: Several older and recent reports provided evidence for the oscillatory character of the exponential decay law in radioactive decay and attempted to explain it with basic physics. We show here that the measured effects observed in some of the cases, namely in the decay of 226Ra, 32Si in equilibrium, and 36Cl, can be explained with the temperature variations.

Abstract: We study the beam-energy and system-size dependence of phi meson production (using the hadronic decay mode phi -> K(+) K(-)) by comparing the new results from Cu + Cu collisions and previously reported Au + Au collisions at root s(NN) = 62.4 and 200 GeV measured in the STAR experiment at RHIC. Data presented in this Letter are from mid-rapidity (vertical bar y vertical bar ) and net strangeness = 2 (Xi). The enhancement for phi mesons is observed to be higher at root s(NN) = 200 GeV compared to 62.4 GeV. These observations for the produced phi(s (s) over bar) mesons clearly suggest that, at these collision energies, the source of enhancement of strange hadrons is related to the formation of a dense partonic medium in high energy nucleus-nucleus collisions and cannot be alone due to canonical suppression of their production in smaller systems. Abstract: The neutron-rich N = 126 nucleus Au-205 has been populated following the relativistic energy projectile fragmentation of E/A = 1 GeV Pb-208, and studied via charged-particle decay spectroscopy. An internal decay with a transition energy of 907(5) keV and a half-life of T-1/2 = 6(2) s has been identified through the observation of the corresponding K and L internal conversion electron lines. The 907 keV energy level corresponds to the pi h(11/2)(-1) proton-hole state and decays both internally into the pi d(3/2)(-1) ground-state and via beta decay into Hg-205. The obtained data provides information on the evolution of single-proton hole energies which are vital inputs of shell model descriptions for nuclei around the Pb-208(82)126 doubly magic core. Abstract: We update a discussion of the relation between the weak phase and the rates and CP asymmetries of several K{pi} decays of B{sup +}, B{sup 0}, and B{sub s}. We emphasize the impact of measurements of B{sub s} {yields} K{pi}. Current data indicate large SU(3) breaking in the strong phases or failure of factorization (including its application to penguin amplitudes) in K{pi} modes of B{sup 0} and B{sub s}. SU(3) and factorization only remain approximately valid if the branching ratio for B{sub s} {yields} K{sup -}{pi}{sup +} exceeds its current value of (5.00 {+-} 1.25) x 10{sup -6} by at least 50%, or if a parameter {zeta} describing ratios of form factors and decay constants is shifted from its nominal value by more than twice its estimated error.

Abstract: Using the full data set of the NA48/2 experiment, the decay K ± → π ± e + e − γ is observed for the first time, selecting 120 candidates with 7.3 ± 1.7 estimated background events. With K ± → π ± π D 0 as normalisation channel, the branching ratio is determined in a model-independent way to be Br ( K ± → π ± e + e − γ , m e e γ > 260 MeV / c 2 ) = ( 1.19 ± 0.12 stat ± 0.04 syst ) × 10 −8 . This measured value and the spectrum of the e + e − γ invariant mass allow a comparison with predictions of chiral perturbation theory.

Abstract: We perform a model-independent analysis for recently reported data of the pi(+)pi(-) invariant mass spectra in the gamma (4S) -> gamma (1S, 2S)pi(+)pi(-) decays and point out that there does exist a broad peak below 0.6 GeV in the data of the gamma(4S) -> gamma(1S)pi(+)pi(-) decay, which is analogous to that in the gamma (3S) -> gamma(1S)pi(+)pi(-) decay. With the data of gamma(4S) decays, we further test our model developed for studying the puzzle in the gamma (3S) -> gamma (1S) pi(+)pi(-) decay. The result shows that with such a model, all the pi(+)pi(-) invariant mass spectra of gamma (4S) decays can be described. We also predict the cos theta(pi)* distributions of gamma (4S) -> gamma (1S, 2S)pi(+)pi(-) decays, which can be used to justify our model prediction. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Abstract: In co-annihilation scenarios, the weakly interacting dark matter particle (WIMP) is close in mass to another particle that can decay into the WIMP. As a result, the other particle does not freeze out before the WIMP in the early universe, and both contribute to the effective dark matter annihilation cross-section. Since the heavier particle does not need to be weakly interacting, the co-annihilation processes are in general subject to sizeable radiative corrections. Here this is analyzed for the example of neutralino–stop co-annihilation in supersymmetry. The leading QCD corrections are calculated and it is found that they have a large effect on the effective annihilation cross-section, reaching more than 50% in some regions of parameter space.

Abstract: Production of f 0 ( 1710 ) , a theoretical endeavor of pure scalar glueball state, is studied in detail from exclusive rare B decay within the framework of perturbative QCD. The branching fraction for B ± → K ∗ ± f 0 ( 1710 ) → K ∗ ± ( K K ¯ ) is estimated to be about 8 × 10 −6 , while for B ± → K ± f 0 ( 1710 ) → K ± ( K K ¯ ) it is smaller by roughly an order of magnitude. With the accumulation of almost 1 billion B B ¯ pairs from the BaBar and Belle experiments to date, hunting for a scalar glueball via these rare decay modes should be attainable.

Abstract: We study the two-point correlator of a modified confined-Coulomb transition order parameter in four-dimensional compact U ( 1 ) lattice gauge theory with Wilson action. Its long distance behavior in the confined phase turns out to be governed by a single particle decay. The mass of this particle is computed and found to be in agreement with previous calculations of the 0 + + gaugeball mass. Remarkably, our order parameter allows to extract a good signal to noise ratio for masses with low statistics. The results we present provide a numerical check of a theorem about the structure of the Hilbert space describing the confined phase of four-dimensional compact U ( 1 ) lattice gauge theories.

Abstract: We present a search for t t ¯ events with a tau lepton in the final state. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 194 pb −1 collected with the CDF II detector from p p ¯ collisions at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. We observe two events with an expected signal of 1.0 ± 0.2 events and a background of 1.3 ± 0.3 events. We determine a 95% confidence level upper limit on r τ , the ratio of the measured rate of t → τ ν q to the expectation, of 5.2.

Abstract: Among some 400 million K S K L pairs produced in e + e − annihilations at DAΦNE, ∼6500 each of K S → π + e − ν ¯ and K S → π − e + ν decays have been observed with the KLOE detector. From these, the ratio Γ ( K S → π e ν ) / Γ ( K S → π + π − ) = ( 10.19 ± 0.13 ) × 10 −4 is obtained, improving the accuracy on BR ( K S → π e ν ) by a factor of four and providing the most precise test of the Δ S = Δ Q rule. From the partial width Γ ( K S → π e ν ) , a value for f + K 0 ( 0 ) × V u s is obtained that is in agreement with unitarity of the quark-mixing matrix. The lepton charge asymmetry A S = ( 1.5 ± 9.6 stat ± 2.9 syst ) × 10 −3 is compatible with the requirements of CPT invariance. The form-factor slope agrees with recent results from semileptonic K L and K + decays. These are the first measurements of the charge asymmetry and form-factor slope for semileptonic K S decays.

Abstract: We calculate the dissipation rate of a coherently oscillating scalar field in a thermal environment using nonequilibrium quantum field theory and apply it to the reheating stage after cosmic inflation. It is shown that the rate is nonvanishing even when particles coupled to the oscillating inflaton field have a larger thermal mass than it, and therefore the cosmic temperature can be much higher than inflaton's mass even in the absence of preheating. Abstract: We measured, with the KLOE detector, the spectrum of π + π − invariant mass in a sample of 6.7 × 10 5 e + e − → π + π − γ events with the photon at large polar angle ( θ γ > 45 ° ) at a centre of mass energy s around the ϕ mass. We observe in this spectrum a clear contribution from the intermediate process ϕ → f 0 ( 980 ) γ . A sizeable effect is also observed in the distribution of the pion forward–backward asymmetry. We use different theoretical models to fit the spectrum and we determine the f0 mass and coupling constants to the ϕ, to π + π − and to K K ¯ .

Abstract: A simple and precise method is presented to compare contributions to neutrinoless double-beta decay ( 0 ν β β -decay) from heavy particle exchange and light Majorana neutrino exchange. This procedure makes no assumptions about the momentum transfer between the two nucleons involved in the 0 ν β β -decay process. It is shown that for a general particle physics model, the characteristic 0 ν β β -decay scale > 4.4 TeV when all the coupling constants are assumed to be natural and of O ( 1 ) .

Abstract: The sizes of tracks of events of neutrinoless double beta decay in a germanium detector depend on particle physics and nuclear physics parameters such as neutrino mass, right-handed current parameters, etc., and nuclear matrix elements. The knowledge of this dependence is of importance, since the key to probe the existence of 0 ν β β decay beyond observation of a signal at the Q value of the process, Q β β , is the discrimination of ββ events from background γ events (or other events), in almost any double beta decay experiment (see [H.V. Klapdor-Kleingrothaus, I.V. Krivosheina, A. Dietz, et al., Phys. Lett. B 586 (2004) 198; H.V. Klapdor-Kleingrothaus, A. Dietz, I.V. Krivosheina, et al., Nucl. Instrum. Methods A 522 (2004) 371]). In this Letter for the first time Monte Carlo simulations of neutrino-accompanied ( 2 ν β β ) and neutrinoless double beta decay ( 0 ν β β ) events, and of various kinds of background processes such as multiple and other γ interactions are reported for a Ge detector. The time history of the evolution of the individual events is followed and a systematic study has been performed of the sizes of the events (volumes in the detector inside which the energy of the event is released which determine the observed signals). Effects of the angular correlations of the two electrons in ββ decay, which again depend on the above nuclear and (for 0 ν β β decay) particle physics parameters, are taken into account and have been calculated for this purpose for 76Ge for the first time on basis of the experimental half-life and of realistic nuclear matrix elements. A brief outlook is given on the potential of future experiments with respect to determination of the particle physics parameters 〈 m ν 〉 , 〈 λ 〉 , 〈 η 〉 .

Abstract: We investigate the sensitivity of the LHC experiments to the Standard Model Higgs using H → τ τ → l + l − p t associated with one high- P T jet in the mass range 110 M H 150 GeV / c 2 . Cut and Neural Network based event selections are chosen to optimize the expected signal significance with this decay mode. A signal significance of about 6.2 σ can be achieved for M H = 120 GeV / c 2 with 30 fb −1 of integrated luminosity for one experiment only. Additionally, experimental issues related to tagging forward jets, reconstructing missing transverse momentum and the application of a central jet veto are simplified considerably.

Abstract: We study a lepton flavor violating μ N → τ X reaction in deep inelastic scattering region in supersymmetric models. The contribution from the Higgs boson mediation could be important for this reaction. For that case, the cross section is constrained by the experimental limit of the pseudo-scalar coupling from τ → μ η decays. We find that at a muon energy ( E μ ) higher than 50 GeV, the predicted cross section increases significantly due to the contribution from sea b-quarks. As a result, with 1020 muons per year, at most a number of O ( 10 4 ) is expected for μ N → τ X events at E μ = 300 GeV , whereas O ( 10 2 ) events are given at E μ = 50 GeV . Furthermore, the μ N → τ X phenomenology, in particular that for the signal and backgrounds, is briefly discussed. Another promising possibility to search for the e N → τ X reaction at an electron–positron linear collider is also discussed. Searches for these reactions would be competitive to studies of rare tau decays and have potential to improve sensitivities to lepton flavor violation significantly.

42. Annihilation rate of heavy 0−+ quarkonium in relativistic Salpeter method

Abstract: Two-photon and two-gluon annihilation rates of η c , η c ′ , η b and η b ′ are estimated in the relativistic Salpeter method. By solving the full Salpeter equation with a well defined relativistic wave function, we estimate M η c = 2.979 ± 0.432 GeV , M η c ′ = 3.566 ± 0.437 GeV , M η b = 9.364 ± 1.120 GeV and M η b ′ = 9.941 ± 1.112 GeV . We calculated the transition amplitude using the Mandelstam formalism and estimate the decay widths: Γ ( η c → 2 γ ) = 7.14 ± 0.95 keV , Γ ( η c ′ → 2 γ ) = 4.44 ± 0.48 keV , Γ ( η b → 2 γ ) = 0.384 ± 0.047 keV and Γ ( η b ′ → 2 γ ) = 0.191 ± 0.025 keV . We also give estimates of total widths by the two-gluon decay rates: Γ tot ( η c ) = 19.6 ± 2.6 MeV , Γ tot ( η c ′ ) = 12.1 ± 1.3 MeV , Γ tot ( η b ) = 6.98 ± 0.85 MeV and Γ tot ( η b ) = 3.47 ± 0.45 MeV .

43. Decay constants of DsJ*(2317) and DsJ(2460)

Abstract: The resonances D s J * ( 2317 ) and D s J ( 2460 ) which are considered to be the ( 0 + , 1 + ) doublet composed of charm and strange quarks have been discovered recently. Using the method of Rosner which is based on the factorization hypothesis, we calculate the lower bounds of the decay constants of these states from the branching ratios of B → D D s J measured by Belle and BaBar. Our result shows that the decay constant of D s J ( 2460 ) is about twice that of D s J * ( 2317 ) contrary to the naive expectation of the heavy quark symmetry which gives their equality. We show that this big deviation originates from the large internal motion of quarks inside these P-wave states and that our result is in good accord with the relativistic quark model calculation.

Abstract: Selectron decays constitute a source of 100% polarised neutralinos, whose helicity is fixed by the charge and “chirality” of the decaying selectron. In SUSY scenarios where the second neutralino χ ˜ 2 0 has three-body decays, the cascade decay e ˜ L → e χ ˜ 2 0 → e χ ˜ 1 0 μ + μ − provides a clean place to study CP violation in the neutralino sector, through the analysis of CP-violating asymmetries involving the χ ˜ 2 0 spin s → and the momenta of the two muons. We show that a CP-violating asymmetry in the triple product s → ⋅ ( p → μ − × p → μ + ) could be observable at a 800 GeV linear collider provided the gaugino mass M 1 has a large phase at the electroweak scale.

47. CP violation in the decays B→KK¯ in the presence of DD¯↔KK¯ mixing

Abstract: We have recently shown that the large direct CP violation observed in the decay B 0 → π + π − , and the enhanced branching ratio for B 0 → π 0 π 0 , can be understood by invoking a small mixing of the ππ system with the dominant D D ¯ channel. We examine here the analogous effect of D D ¯ ↔ K K ¯ mixing on the rare decays B 0 → K 0 K ¯ 0 , B − → K − K 0 and B 0 → K + K − . We find (a) significant values for the asymmetry parameters C and S in B 0 / B ¯ 0 → K 0 K ¯ 0 , (b) a possible enhancement of the suppressed mode B 0 → K + K − , (c) a correlation between the three decay channels following from a triangle relation between amplitudes A K 0 K ¯ 0 − A K + K − = A K − K 0 . The pattern of asymmetries and branching ratios is compared with that derived from the short-distance QCD penguin interaction.

Abstract: We consider a model for the decay B 0 →ρ 0 γ in which the short-distance amplitude determined by the Hamiltonian describing b → dγ is combined with a typical long-distance contribution B 0 →D + D − →ρ 0 γ . The latter possesses a significant dynamical phase which induces a CP-violating asymmetry A CP , as well as an important modification of the Stokes vector of the photon. The components S 1 and S 3 of the Stokes vector S → =(S 1 ,S 2 ,S 3 ) can be measured in the decay B 0 →ρ 0 γ ∗ →π + π − e + e − where they produce a characteristic effect in the angular distribution dΓ / dφ , φ being the angle between the π + π − and e + e − planes. A similar analysis is carried out for the decays B 0 → K ∗ γ and B 0 → K ∗ γ ∗ →π + K − e + e − .

Abstract: Recent measurements of B^0 -> pi pi decays reveal two features that are in conflict with conventional calculations: the channel B^0 (Bbar^0) -> pi^+ pi^- shows a large direct CP-violating asymmetry, and the channel B^0 (B^0) -> pi^0 pi^0 has an unexpectedly high branching ratio. We show that both features can be understood in terms of strong-interaction mixing of pi pi and D Dbar channels in the isospin-zero state, an effect that is important because of the large experimentally observed ratio Gamma(B^0 / Bbar^0 -> D^+ D^-) / Gamma (B^0 / Bbar^0 -> pi^+ pi^-) approx. 50. Abstract: The η → π 0 γγ rare decay was measured at the AGS with the Crystal Ball photon spectrometer and its relative branching ratio was extracted to be B 1 =(8.3±2.8±1.4)×10 −4 , based on the analysis of 3×10 7 detected η mesons. This leads to a lower partial width for this eta channel than past measurements and is in line with chiral perturbation theory calculations.
