Abstract

We report an improved measurement of D0–D‾0 mixing and a search for CP violation in D0 decays to CP-even final states K+K− and π+π−. The measurement is based on the final Belle data sample of 976 fb−1. The results are yCP=(1.11±0.22±0.09)% and AΓ=(−0.03±0.20±0.07)%, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic.

Abstract

Abstract

We present new precision measurements of the {Psi}(2S) total and partial widths from excitation curves obtained in antiproton-proton annihilations by Fermilab experiment E835 at the Antiproton Accumulator in the year 2000. A new technique of complementary scans was developed to study narrow resonances with stochastically cooled antiproton beams. It relies on precise revolution-frequency and orbit-length measurements, while making the analysis of the excitation curve almost independent of machine lattice parameters. For the {Psi}(2S) meson, by studying the processes {bar p}p {yields} e{sup +}e{sup -} and {bar p}p {yields} J/{Psi} + X {yields} e{sup +}e{sup -} + X, we measure the width {Gamma} = 290 {+-} 25(sta) {+-} 4(sys) keV and the combination of partial widths {Gamma}{sub e{sup +}e{sup -}}{Gamma}{sub {bar p}p}/{Gamma} = 579 {+-} 38(sta) {+-} 36(sys) meV, which represent the most precise measurements to date.

Abstract

We present the first measurement of the angular distribution for the exclusive process p ¯ p → ψ ( 2 S ) → e + e − based on a sample of 6844 events collected by the Fermilab E835 experiment. We find that the angular distribution is well described by the expected functional form d N d cos θ ∗ ∝ 1 + λ cos 2 θ ∗ , where θ ∗ is the angle between the antiproton and the electron in the center of mass frame, with λ = 0.67 ± 0.15 ( stat ) ± 0.04 ( sys ) . The measured value for λ implies a small but non-zero ψ ( 2 S ) helicity 0 formation amplitude in p ¯ p , comparable to what is observed in J / ψ decays to baryon pairs.

Abstract

Cross section ratios for deep-inelastic scattering from 14N and 3He with respect to 2H have been measured by the HERMES experiment at DESY using a 27.5 GeV positron beam. The data cover a range in the Bjorken scaling variable x between 0.013 and 0.65, while the negative squared four-momentum transfer Q^2 varies from 0.5 to 15 GeV^2. The data are compared to measurements performed by NMC, E665, and SLAC on 4He and 12C, and are found to be different for x < 0.06 and Q^2 < 1.5 GeV^2. The observed difference is attributed to an A-dependence of the ratio R = sigma_L / sigma_T of longitudinal to transverse deep-inelastic scattering cross sections at low x and low Q^2.

Abstract

We present measurements of the 2π0 mass spectrum in proton—antiproton annihilations. The f2 (1520) resonance is strongly produced in the 3π0 channel. Its production along with an η is observed, but strongly suppressed. Other features are seen in the data, including the f2 (1270) and structures at 2000 MeV/c2 and above.

Abstract

In an experiment performed at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings as a part of an energy scan to detect the ηc formation in pp annihilation, we studied the reaction pp→φφ→K+K−K+K−. The total cross section has been determined to be 25.0± 7.4±3.8 nb.
