This exploratory and qualitative study aimed to analyze the knowledge, perceptions and practices of Oral Health Teams and Community Health Agents about public health policies that regulate the use of medicinal plants and herbal medicines in the context of integrative and complementary practices, including their incorporation, recognition, challenges and possibilities in the local routine of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SUS). Eight Basic Health Units were selected in the municipality of Itabuna, Bahia, Brazil, and interviews were conducted with 8 dentists, 8 oral health assistants/technicians and 8 community health agents, totaling 24 participants. For data analysis, the Collective Subject Discourse technique was used. The knowledge, perceptions and practices of the actors involved in the study about public policies for the introduction of medicinal plants in the SUS were permeated by the hegemonic culture, traditional and fragmented health education, the administrative (un)interest of the municipal authorities, and individual subjectivities that are produced and reproduced in the local oral health services and the primary care. Diferentes formulações têm dado destaque à Atenção Primária à Saúde como porta de entrada preferencial do sistema de saúde, base das redes de atenção e função de coordenação do cuidado. A regulação assistencial (ou do acesso), por sua vez, vem sendo considerada, no Brasil, uma estratégia e tecnologia central de gestão das redes. Este artigo objetivou caracterizar a interface entre atenção primária e regulação assistencial nas formulações e diretrizes nacionais sobre regulação assistencial do SUS, considerando o período de 2002 a 2017. Adotou-se a metodologia da análise documental, utilizando fontes de domínio público, notadamente portarias e manuais técnicos do Ministério da Saúde, organizando os conteúdos extraídos nas dimensões "conceitos de regulação", "organização e gestão da regulação" e "estratégias e ferramentas de regulação", dentro das quais se buscou caracterizar o lugar da atenção primária. Observou-se maior destaque para a interface entre regulação assistencial ambulatorial e atenção primária a partir de 2011 com a noção de microrregulação, de modo mais marcante nos documentos e iniciativas relacionados à gestão da atenção primária do que nos específicos da regulação, enfocando a elaboração de dispositivos de regulação a partir da atenção primária, destacando-se o Telessaúde. Different formulations have emphasized Primary Health Care as the preferred gateway to the health system, the basis of care networks and the care coordination function. Access regulation, in turn, has been considered, in Brazil, as a strategy and central technology for network management. This article aimed to characterize how primary care is placed in the national formulations and guidelines on health care regulation of the SUS from 2002 to 2017. The methodology was the documentary analysis, using public domain sources, notably ordinances and technical manuals of the Ministry of Health, organizing the extracted contents in the dimensions "concepts of regulation", "organization and management of regulation" and "strategies and tools of regulation", which sought to characterize the place of primary care. Greater emphasis was given to the interface between health care regulation and primary care from 2011, more prominently in the documents and initiatives related to primary care management than in the specifics of regulation, focusing on the ambulatory dimension of access regulation and in the elaboration of regulation devices based on primary care, highlighting Telehealth. Evaluability of the Brazilian Regulatory Policy within the SUS: a preliminary proposal Evaluability studies allow determining the purposes of the policy and the evaluation focus, assisting a thorough understanding and prior appreciation of the possibilities of policy evaluation. Thus, this article analyzes the evaluability of the Brazilian Regulatory Policy, from January to May of 2018, with an exploratory and qualitative approach, in order to define how this policy can be evaluated and the elaboration of the logical and theoretical models of evaluation, according to the seven- element system by Thurston and Ramaliu. The results contributed to a better understanding of the structure and operationalization of the policy to reach their results and impacts on health. However, the Policy has many components and activities, so it is difficult to elaborate indicators and a global policy assessment matrix. It is suggested a cut of the policy for an evaluation process. The Brazilian Regulatory Policy was published 10 years ago but any proposal to evaluate it has been submitted. It is known that regulation in the health sector brings numerous challenges, and it requires a proposal of evaluation that goes beyond the dimensions of efficiency and equity, including the training and activities of health professionals, accessibility to health services and health technology assessment. Until recently, there were no policies that induce the formation of specialists geared to the Unified Heath System (SUS). A milestone was the National Program to Support Training of Medical Specialists in Strategic Areas - Pro-Residência, created in 2009. With the launch of the Mais Médicos Program by Law n. 12.871/2013, new strategies were shaped to enhance the regulation of training specialists. This article discusses the regulatory policies of the opening of medical residency positions from the Pro-Residência and addresses changes suggested by Law n. 12.871/2013 such as universal vacancies with emphasis on Family Medicine. This is a quantitative and qualitative study that uses bibliographic and documentary research. The results show the positive effects of public policies in the number and distribution of medical residency positions. The number of professionals has been doubled between 2009 and 2014 with more significant increase in the North and Northeast regions. Furthermore, there is also the emergence of specialties previously nonexistent in these regions. New challenges arise to expand residency with necessary quality and speed, such as improved tools for the management of health human resources, with expansion and qualification of preceptorship and practice fields for training. The article analyzes the relationship between the production of scientific knowledge and a childhood disease named Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome. Our focus is on highlighting how biomedical science builds a way to "see" and define social problems, in this case a health problem that mainly affects the population under five years old in Argentina, and how from of those objective characteristics defined by biomedicine, public health sustained ways to address and intervene on the issue. From a qualitative methodology, data collection was conducted by a joint techniques included analysis of secondary sources, from the review of scientific articles on the disease, semi-structured interviews to scientists and public officials and observation at scientific conferences. We present the main features biomedicine concerning the disease and then analyze its implications on the design of health policies. Planning policy followed the logic of scientific knowledge production. New discoveries have been occurring over time and moved almost linearly to the design of policies to prevent and control the disease. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The paper discusses the development in Brazil of the field of Collective Health field as grounded on three principles similar to those of the policy sciences proposed in the US by H. Laswell in the 1950's: multidisciplinarity, resolution of problems and normativity. Since then, the idea of science applied to the improvement of the policy process spread under the name of policy analysis. While in the USA normativity was seen by political scientists as incompatible with science's core values, in Brazil this convergence originated the academic field of collective health in the 1970's when health reform movement, supported by political parties, labor unions and social movements, developed. With democratic regime and deep changes in the health sector, the use of scientific and analytical knowledge by decision makers got momentum in Brazil as well as the role of the collective health which joined knowledge production and political action. The paper shows that as the field developed, a double process occurred: on one hand, the support for policy oriented studies as well as of Abrasco in the assertion of the multidisciplinary and normative features of the collective health. On the other hand, in the sphere of academic accreditation, the epistemic disputes for scientific legitimating and the predominance of academic legitimacy based on biomedicine criteria affecting the access to financial resources and calling into question the normative and multidisciplinary principles that originated the field. We conducted a descriptive study on the experience of implementation of actions in the area of genetics in a medium-sized municipality, combining the analysis of official documents and a questionnaire administered to 43 university level professionals of the Family Health Strategy. The data were analyzed looking for answers about how and why certain health care strategies in the area of clinical and community genetics were performed. Such actions were classified as "continuing education", "health surveillance" and "enhanced access to care". The results showed that it is still necessary to extend the actions of continuing education in genetics for primary care professionals, promoting this gateway to the SUS also to the area of genetics, in order to allow full access to comprehensive health care. This paper arises as a way of systematizing the reflections based on the "Intercultural tensions and the impacts on the health-disease process in the Guarani Mbyá from the city of Aracruz, State of Espírito Santo, approached by its authors, under a process for knowledge development within the Post-graduation on NUrsery at Rio de Janeiro Federal University (UniRio). The paper aims to stimulate a reflection about the contradictions arising from the health politics for indigenous populations in Brazil, whose guidelines do not contribute for the construction of new approaches that raise the value of diversity in the ethnical and cultural viewpoints. Its approach can be classified as descriptive with qualitative approach of a study case. Data were collected from semi-structured interviews conducted together with members of the Mbyá, Aracruz, Espírito Santo, and its analysis was based on the rules that subsidize indigenous healthcare actions. The conclusion is indigenous healthcare is influenced by local, regional and global political, economic and social interests, that, in many respects, overlap or neglect those aspects so necessary for the promotion and protection on the quality of life of the Mbyá groups living in Aracruz.
