Studies of the Bulgarian vegetation have started a century ago, but for many reasons for a long time they were defined by the dominant approach. Within the last two decades, many syntaxa occurring in the country have been identified in the result of intensive field work and development of national and international databases, as well as after adoption of the standards of the European vegetation classification. The first complete checklist of the Bulgarian syntaxa under the Braun-Blanquet approach was compiled more than a decade ago and has been in need of updating in compliance with the latest national and international scientific achievements. The current paper aims at compiling an updated checklist of the Bulgarian high-rank syntaxa dominated by vascular plants. According to the results, Bulgarian vegetation features 68 classes, 135 orders and 259 alliances. These syntaxa account for 65% of the European classes, 45% of the orders and 23% of the alliances. Yellow Water-Lily (Nuphar lutea) is a well-known aquatic plant for the flora of Bulgaria. However, presently it has very limited distribution. Many former localities have disappeared during the last century. This paper provides current data on some important populations of the species in Northwest Bulgaria, the municipalities of Byala Slatina and Boychinovtsi, and presents information on its distribution and syntaxonomy in the country. Marsh Fern (Thelypteris palustris) is a hygrophytic plant uncommon to the flora of Bulgaria. It is also a vulnerable species, with small and isolated localities in several parts of the country. This paper provides new data on syntaxonomy of the communities in which this fern participates, as well as on a new important locality near Pleven town, Danubian Plain. This paper presents the results of the first phytocoenological analysis of psammophytic semi-ruderal vegetation on the alluvial terraces of River Maritsa in the Thracian Lowland, Bulgaria. During the field study, new syntaxa for Bulgaria have been found. The new alliance for Bulgaria, Salsolion ruthenicae (class Digitario sanguinalis-Eragrostietea minoris), is represented by the association Erysimo diffusi-Cynodontetum dactylontis, which is widespread on the sand deposits in the river's floodplain. A comparatively high level of ruderalisation influences the communities on the alluvial sands. The species composition of the communities reveals a mixture of perennial species (Cynodon dactylon, Bothriochloa ischaemum, Eryngium campestre), annual psammophytes (Plantago arenaria, Silene conica, Lomelosia argentea) and nitrophilous species, including neophytes (Portulaca oleracea, Tragus racemosus, Erigeron canadensis). The paper presents new data on the composition of bryophyte species in the Bulgarka Nature Park. A total of 103 bryophyte species have been identified (17 liverworts and 86 mosses). Comments are offered on the distribution of Dicranum viride, Leucobryum glaucum and on the debatable report of Dichelyma falcatum and Trichocolea tomentella, two species rare for Bulgaria. In this paper, the current diversity and distribution of genus Bupleurum in Bulgaria are presented. Field and herbarium studies have found that in the Bulgarian flora the genus is represented by 17 species (three perennials and 14 annuals) belonging to four sections. A new key for identification of the sections and taxa is provided. For each species, the diagnostic characters are noted down, as well as its closest relatives with which it can be confused. The aim of the paper is to report data about the distribution, habitat preferences and naturalisation success of three ornamental taxa cultivated in Bulgaria. Hemerocallis fulva (Asphodelaceae), a native species to temperate Asia, has been recorded as an established alien in eight floristic regions in the country. Oxalis articulata (Oxalidaceae), native to temperate South America, has been recorded as a casual species in three floristic regions. Phalaris arundinacea var. picta (Poaceae) has white variegated leaves and is a popular garden cultivar of a native to Bulgaria species. It has been recorded as an established alien in three floristic regions. Although H. fulva and Ph. arundinacea var. picta may form relatively wide, monodominant stands through vegetative reproduction, at this stage the two taxa do not show invasive behaviour in the Bulgarian flora. Circaea alpina is already known in the flora of Bulgaria from Yundola, Lokvensko Dere locality (West Rhodope Mts). However, information on it is based only on a single publication 70 years ago, not documented with any herbarium materials. The species has not been confirmed subsequently for Bulgaria and was evaluated as Data Deficient in the Red List of Bulgarian vascular plants. This paper offers new data on the second established locality of the species in Bulgaria, as well as some information on its ecology and conservation status in the country. The new locality was found comparatively far from the first one, in the Mt Etropolska Divide - part of Central Balkan Range. The discovered population was very small (about 30 individuals) and inhabited some silicate rocky walls. The new record requires reassessment of the conservation status of Circaea alpina in Bulgaria. The study presents recent data on the distribution of two new chasmophytic habitats to Bulgaria. They are low-altitudinal siliceous screes distributed mostly in South Bulgaria, and calcareous screes found mostly in the northern part of the country. Their main characteristics, as well as many typical vascular plants, mosses and lichens are given in the paper. The habitats are included in the Habitats Directive under the names 8150 Medio-European upland siliceous screes and 8160* Medio-European calcareous screes at hill and montane levels. This was the reason to make an attempt at calculating their representativeness in the existing NATURA 2000 sites in Bulgaria by means of field researches, GIS models from the Forestry Database and mapping. Mollugo verticillata L., a new alien species for the Bulgarian flora, was collected from the Valley of River Struma (South) floristic subregion in 2018. The paper presents a concise morphological description of the species, with comparison to the similar M. cerviana (L.) Ser.
