The article focuses on the yellow leaf curl disease that contributes to heavy losses to cucurbit crops in Thailand. DNA was extracted from the leaves and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was conducted using begomovirus specific degenerate to amplify the DNA and a PCR product was obtained, cloned and sequenced. Comparison of the complete nucleotide sequence of the begomovirus with full-length begomoviral DNA-A, containing five open reading frames typical of begomovirus showed the highest nucleotide sequence identity with Squash leaf curl China virus.

The article examines the association between Tobacco leaf curl Japan virus strain and a satellite DNA in honeysuckle in Japan. Researchers collected honeysuckle samples which showed typical yellow vein symptoms while growing besides tomato crops in Ibaraki, Japan in 2001. Honeysuckle yellow vein virus was then set apart from honeysuckle suggesting infection by a begomovirus. The total DNA taken from the sample was then removed from infected leaves and polymerase chain reaction was done using begomovirus-specific degenerate primers.
