Improvement in living standards has led to the development and utilization of forest green foods. The study seeks to examine the foundation and potential of forest green food industry in Yunnan Province. By constructing the industrial competitive advantage model, this paper measured and analyzed the competitiveness of forest green food industry in Yunnan Province from 2016 to 2020 by using fuzzy evaluation method and AHP. The conclusions were as follows: (1) The competitiveness of forest green food industry in Yunnan Province was at a medium level with competitiveness index of 83.98. (2) The competitive advantage of forest green food industry in Yunnan Province mainly depended on key factors such as natural endowment and education level. The area is however not having comparative advantage in general factors and important factors. Therefore, there is the need to put in place measures to realise the full potential of forest green food industry in the area by providing players in the sector with requisite skills. Impatiens L., the largest genus in the family Balsaminaceae with approximately 1000 species, is a controversial and complex genus that includes many economically important species well known for medicinal and ornamental values. However, there is limited knowledge of molecular phylogeny and chloroplast genomics, and uncertainties still exist at a taxonomic level. In this study, we have assembled four chloroplast genomics specimens of Impatiens cyanantha and Impatiens monticola, which are found at the different altitudes of Guizhou and Yunnan in China, and compared them with previously published three wild Balsaminaceae species (Impatiens piufanensis, Impatiens glandlifera, and Hydrocera triflora). The complete chloroplast genome sequences ranged from 152,236 bp (I. piufanensis) to 154,189 bp (H. triflora) and encoded 115 total distinct genes, of which 81 were protein-coding, 30 were distinct transfer RNA genes(tRNA), and 4 were ribosomal RNA genes (rRNA). A comparative analysis of I. cyanantha (Guizhou) vs. I. cyanantha (Yunnan) and I. monticola (Guizhou) vs. I. monticola (Yunnan) revealed minor changes in lengths; however, similar gene contents, gene orders, and GC contents existed among them. Interestingly, highly coding and non-coding genes, and regions matK, psbK, atpH-atpI, trnC-trnT, petN, psbM, atpE, rbcL, accD, psaL, rps3-rps19, ndhG-ndhA,rpl16, rpoB, ndhB, ndhF, ycf1, and ndhH were found, which could be suitable for identification of species and phylogenetic studies. During the comparison between I. cyanantha (Guizhou) and I. cyanantha (Yunnan), we observed that the rps4, ycf2, ndhF, ycf1, and rpoC2 genes underwent positive selection. Meanwhile, in the comparative study of I. monticola (Guizhou) vs. I. monticola (Yunnan), The accD and ycf1 genes were positively selected. Additionally, phylogenetic relationships based on maximum likelihood (ML) and Bayesian inference (BI) among whole chloroplast genomes showed that a sister relationship with I. monticola (Guizhou) and I. monticola (Yunnan) formed a clade with I.piufanensis proving their close connection. Besides, I.cyanantha (Guizhou) and I. cyanantha (Yunnan) formed a clade with I. glandlifera. Along with the findings and the results, the current study might provide valuable significant genomic resources for systematics and evolution of the genus impatiens in different altitudes of regions. Background: HCV genotype 6 (HCV-6) typically circulates in Southeast Asia and exhibits the highest genetic diversity among the eight HCV genotypes. In our previous work, a group of HCV-6 sequences was not clearly classified. Here, we further characterized this HCV-6 variant and analyzed the evolutionary history of the enlarged HCV-6 family. Methods: Blood samples from eight HCV seropositive samples collected from intravenous drug users (IDUs) in 2014 in Yunnan Province, China. The full-length HCV genome sequences were amplified by using reverse transcription PCR followed by DNA sequencing and phylogenetic analysis. Bayesian evolutionary analysis was performed with the complete coding region sequences of subtype 6a-6xh. Results: The eight genomes had the same coding region of 9051 nucleotides. The complete coding region sequences of the eight HCV isolates formed a distinct phylogenetic group from the previously assigned HCV-6 subtypes (6a-6xf), however which clustered with 6xg reference sequences that were found in Kachin State, Myanmar, and recently assigned and released. The p-distances of the eight isolates to subtype 6a-6xf and 6xh ranged from 0.143 to 0.283. Based on the HCV-6 complete coding region sequences, we constructed a timescaled phylogenetic tree to reveal the HCV-6 evolutionary history, in which there were four HCV-6 phylogenetic subsets, whose median tMRCAs were 294.8, 388.5, 348.5 and 197.0 years ago, respectively. Subtype 6xg clustered into Subset I, and had the most recent common ancestor with subtype 6n, which dated back to 101.2 (95% HPD: 78.7, 125.8) years ago. The genetic evolutionary analysis further confirmed that subtype 6xg originated from Myanmar, and transmitted to Dehong through cross-border IDUs. Conclusion: The HCV-6 variant characterized in this study belonged to newly assigned subtype 6xg. Our finding further confirmed the assignment of 6xg. HCV-6 family was highly divers and had a complicated evolutionary history in Southeast Asia. It is necessary to further characterize HCV-6 genetics in this region. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: The human immunodeficiency virus 1 (HIV-1) epidemic in China historically stemmed from intravenous drug users (IDUs) in Yunnan. Due to a shared transmission route, hepatitis C virus (HCV)/HIV-1 co-infection is common. Here, we investigated HCV genetic characteristics and baseline drug resistance among HIV-infected IDUs in Yunnan. Methods: Blood samples of 432 HIV-1/HCV co-infected IDUs were collected from January to June 2014 in six prefectures of Yunnan Province. Partial E1E2 and NS5B genes were sequenced. Phylogenetic, evolutionary and genotypic drug resistance analyses were performed. Results: Among the 293 specimens successfully genotyped, seven subtypes were identified, including subtypes 3b (37.9%, 111/293), 3a (21.8%, 64/293), 6n (14.0%, 41/293), 1b (10.6%, 31/293), 1a (8.2%, 24/293), 6a (5.1%, 15/293) and 6u (2.4%, 7/293). The distribution of HCV subtypes was mostly related to geographic location. Subtypes 3b, 3a, and 6n were detected in all six prefectures, however, the other four subtypes were detected only in parts of the six prefectures. Phylogeographic analyses indicated that 6n, 1a and 6u originated in the western prefecture (Dehong) and spread eastward and showed genetic relatedness with those detected in Burmese. However, 6a originated in the southeast prefectures (Honghe and Wenshan) bordering Vietnam and was transmitted westward. These subtypes exhibited different evolutionary rates (between 4.35×10−4 and 2.38×10−3 substitutions site-1 year-1) and times of most recent common ancestor (tMRCA, between 1790.3 and 1994.6), suggesting that HCV was multiply introduced into Yunnan. Naturally occurring resistance-associated mutations (C316N, A421V, C445F, I482L, V494A, and V499A) to NS5B polymerase inhibitors were detected in direct-acting antivirals (DAAs)-naïve IDUs. Conclusion: This work reveals the temporal-spatial distribution of HCV subtypes and baseline HCV drug resistance among HIV-infected IDUs in Yunnan. The findings enhance our understanding of the characteristics and evolution of HCV in IDUs and are valuable for developing HCV prevention and management strategies for this population. Climate and human-driven changes play an important role in regional droughts. Northwest Yunnan Province is a key region for biodiversity conservation in China, and it has experienced severe droughts since the beginning of this century; however, the extent of the contributions from climate and human-driven changes remains unclear. We calculated the ecosystem evapotranspiration (ET) and water yield (WY) of northwest Yunnan Province, China from 2001 to 2013 using meteorological and remote sensing observation data and a Surface Energy Balance System (SEBS) model. Multivariate regression analyses were used to differentiate the contribution of climate and vegetation coverage to ET. The results showed that the annual average vegetation coverage significantly increased over time with a mean of 0.69 in spite of the precipitation fluctuation. Afforestation/reforestation and other management efforts attributed to vegetation coverage increase in NW Yunnan. Both ET and WY considerably fluctuated with the climate factors, which ranged from 623.29 mm to 893.8 mm and –51.88 mm to 384.40 mm over the time period. Spatially, ET in the southeast of NW Yunnan (mainly in Lijiang) increased significantly, which was in line with the spatial trend of vegetation coverage. Multivariate linear regression analysis indicated that climatic factors accounted for 85.18% of the ET variation, while vegetation coverage explained 14.82%. On the other hand, precipitation accounted for 67.5% of the WY. We conclude that the continuous droughts in northwest Yunnan were primarily climatically driven; however, man-made land cover and vegetation changes also increased the vulnerability of local populations to drought. Because of the high proportion of the water yield consumed for subsistence and poor infrastructure for water management, local populations have been highly vulnerable to climate drought conditions. We suggest that conservation of native vegetation and development of water-conserving agricultural practices should be implemented as adaptive strategies to mitigate climate change. Objective: To examine alcohol use and subsequent HIV risky behaviors among a sample of predominately ethnic minority people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in a rural community in Yunnan Province, China. Method: A cross-sectional study with a face-to-face questionnaire interview was conducted among eligible participants. Results: In total, 455 (94.4%) out of 482 eligible HIV patients participated in the study. Of them, 82.6% were ethnic minorities; 15.4% were never married; 96.5% were sexually experienced; 55.4% had used drugs, 67% were receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART). Over 65% were ever drinkers; of whom 61.5% were current drinkers. Among current drinkers, 32.4% drank daily and 41.2% were hazardous drinkers. Chinese white wine was the preferred choice. Higher level of alcohol use among drinkers in the preceding month was positively associated with being males (OR = 2.76, 95%CI: 1.03–7.43), ethnic minorities (OR Jingpo = 2.21, 95%CI: 1.06–4.59; OR other minorities = 3.20, 95%CI: 1.34–7.62), higher education (OR1–6 = 1.98, 95%CI: 0.99–3.96; OR≥7 = 2.35, 95%CI: 1.09–5.06) and being ART-naive (OR = 2.69, 95%CI: 1.67–4.32). About 39% of ever drinkers reported having engaged in sex after drinking since HIV diagnosis. Those who were younger than 46 years (OR16–25 = 7.77, 95%CI: 1.22–49.60, OR26–35 = 2.79, 95%CI: 1.06–7.35, OR36–45 = 2.96, 95%CI: 1.57–7.58), hazardous drinkers (OR = 1.99, 95%CI: 1.00–3.97) and drug users (OR = 3.01, 95%CI: 1.19–7.58) were more likely to have had sex after drinking. Approximately 56% of drug users had used drugs after drinking. Conclusions: High prevalence of alcohol use and subsequent risky behaviors including sexual engagement and drug use among HIV patients in rural Yunnan require tremendous and integrated efforts for prevention and control of alcohol and drug abuse and HIV spreading. Background: Yunnan has the longest endured Human Immunodeficiency Virus-1 (HIV-1) epidemic in China, and the genetic diversity of HIV-1 constitutes an essential characteristic of molecular epidemiology in this region. To obtain a more comprehensive picture of the dynamic changes in Yunnan’s HIV-1 epidemic, a cross-sectional molecular epidemiological investigation was carried out among recently infected individuals. Methodology/Principal Findings: We sequenced partial gag (HXB2∶781–1861) and env (HXB2∶7002–7541) genes from 308 plasma samples of recently infected patients. With phylogenetic analysis, 130 specimens generated interpretable genotyping data. We found that the circulating genotypes included: CRF08_BC (40.8%), unique recombinant forms (URFs, 27.7%), CRF01_AE (18.5%), CRF07_BC (9.2%), subtype B (2.3%) and C (1.5%). CRF08_BC was the most common genotype, and was predominant in both intravenous drug users (IDUs) and heterosexually transmitted populations. CRF08_BC and CRF07_BC still predominated in eastern Yunnan, but CRF08_BC showed increasing prevalence in western Yunnan. Strikingly, the URFs raised dramatically in most regions of Yunnan. Seven different types of URFs were detected from 12 prefectures, suggesting that complicated and frequent recombination is a salient feature of Yunnan’s HIV-1 epidemic. Among URFs, two BC clusters with distinctive recombination patterns might be potential new CRF_BCs. CRF01_AE was no longer confined to the prefectures bordering Myanmar, and had spread to the eastern part of Yunnan, especially the capital city of Kunming, with a large number of infections in the transient population. The ratios of the main genotypes showed no statistical differences between infected IDUs and heterosexually transmitted infections. Conclusions/Significance: The changing patterns of the dominant HIV-1 genotypes in Yunnan indicate the complex evolving dynamic nature of the epidemic.
