ImportanceSARS-CoV-2 infection can result in ongoing, relapsing, or new symptoms or other health effects after the acute phase of infection; termed post-acute sequelae of SARS-CoV-2 infection (PASC), or long COVID. The characteristics, prevalence, trajectory and mechanisms of PASC are ill-defined. The objectives of the Researching COVID to Enhance Recovery (RECOVER) Multi-site Observational Study of PASC in Adults (RECOVER-Adult) are to: (1) characterize PASC prevalence; (2) characterize the symptoms, organ dysfunction, natural history, and distinct phenotypes of PASC; (3) identify demographic, social and clinical risk factors for PASC onset and recovery; and (4) define the biological mechanisms underlying PASC pathogenesis.MethodsRECOVER-Adult is a combined prospective/retrospective cohort currently planned to enroll 14,880 adults aged ≥18 years. Eligible participants either must meet WHO criteria for suspected, probable, or confirmed infection; or must have evidence of no prior infection. Recruitment occurs at 86 sites in 33 U.S. states, Washington, DC and Puerto Rico, via facility- and community-based outreach. Participants complete quarterly questionnaires about symptoms, social determinants, vaccination status, and interim SARS-CoV-2 infections. In addition, participants contribute biospecimens and undergo physical and laboratory examinations at approximately 0, 90 and 180 days from infection or negative test date, and yearly thereafter. Some participants undergo additional testing based on specific criteria or random sampling. Patient representatives provide input on all study processes. The primary study outcome is onset of PASC, measured by signs and symptoms. A paradigm for identifying PASC cases will be defined and updated using supervised and unsupervised learning approaches with cross-validation. Logistic regression and proportional hazards regression will be conducted to investigate associations between risk factors, onset, and resolution of PASC symptoms.DiscussionRECOVER-Adult is the first national, prospective, longitudinal cohort of PASC among US adults. Background: The widespread increase in multiple variants of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) since 2020 is causing significant health concerns worldwide. While whole-genome sequencing (WGS) has played a leading role in surveillance programs, many local laboratories lack the expertise and resources. Thus, we aimed to investigate the circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants and evaluate the performance of multiplexed real-time reverse transcription-PCR (RT-PCR) for screening and monitoring the emergence of new SARS-CoV-2 variants in Bangladesh. Methods: A total of 600 confirmed SARS-CoV-2-positive cases were enrolled either prospectively or retrospectively from two divisions of Bangladesh. The samples were screened by variant RT-PCR targeting five mutations of the spike gene (N501Y, P681R, L452R, E484K, E484Q). A subsample of the study population was also selected for third-generation sequencing (TGS) and the results were compared to the variant RT-PCR screening. An in-depth comparison was made between the two methods in terms of congruence and cost-benefit. Result: Seven variants were detected among samples, with similar distributions of the variants across both divisions. Variant RT-PCR for the targeted mutations lead to a 98.5% call rate; only nine samples failed to be determined. No association was found regarding the demographic features, clinical criteria, or routine RT-PCR Ct values across the variants. The clade diversity of the sequenced subpopulation (n = 99) exhibited similar distributions across the two study sites and other epidemiologic variables. Variant RT-PCR successfully distinguished variants of concern (VOCs) and variants of interest (VOIs); however, 8% discrepancy was observed for the closest lineages. Moreover, the variant RT-PCR represented an ideal balance of cost, time, and accuracy that outweigh their limitations. Conclusion: Based on the strong agreement of variant RT-PCR with TGS, such rapid, easily accessible approaches of rapid strain typing are essential in the context of pandemic responses to guide both treatment decisions and public health measures. A novel nickel-molybdenum carbide-graphite nanofiber composite is introduced as an electrocatalyst for ethanol electrooxidation. The proposed nanofibers have been prepared by calcinating electrospun nanofibers composed of nickel acetate tetrahydrate, molybdenum chloride, and polyvinyl alcohol. The calcination process was conducted at different temperatures (700, 850, and 1000°C) under a nitrogen gas atmosphere with a heating rate of 2.5 deg/min and a holding time of 5 h. Physicochemical characterizations have indicated that nickel acetate is entirely reduced to nickel metal during the sintering process, and molybdenum has bonded with carbon to produce molybdenum carbide. At the same time, the used polymer has been pyrolyzed to produce a carbon nanofiber matrix embedding formed inorganic nanoparticles. Electrochemical measurements concluded that molybdenum content and calcination temperature should be controlled to maximize the electrocatalytic activity of the proposed catalyst. Typically, the oxidation peak current density was 28.5, 28.8, 51.5, 128.3, 25.6, and 3 mA/cm2 for nanofibers prepared from an electrospun solution containing 0, 5, 10, 15, 25, and 35 wt% molybdenum carbide, respectively. Moreover, it was observed that increasing the calcination temperature distinctly improves the electrocatalytic activity. Kinetic studies have indicated that the reaction order is close to zero with a reaction temperature-dependent value. Moreover, it was detected that the electrooxidation reaction of ethanol over the proposed nanofiber composite follows the Arrhenius equation. The determined activation energy is 33 kJ/mol, which indicates good catalytic activity for the introduced nanofibers. Through the application of a set of visualization-based tools and the general linear model (GLM), the optimal conditions that generate the highest current density were identified. Organic sources of trace minerals (TM) in broiler diets are more bioavailable and stable than inorganic sources, making them particularly beneficial during challenging periods such as heat stress (HS) conditions. A 42-d study investigated the effects of using advanced chelate technology-based TM (ACTM) or adding varying amounts of ACTM to broiler diets during HS conditions. The study involved 672 male broiler chickens in 7 treatment groups, including a thermoneutral control (TNC) group and six HS treatments. There were 8 replicate pens per treatment and 12 birds per replicate. The six HS treatments included birds exposed to a cyclic HS environment (34°C) for 8 h and were as follows: HSC, which consisted of the same basal diet with the recommended ITM levels; ACTM50 and ACTM100, which replaced the basal diet with 50% and 100% ACTM instead of ITM; ITM+ACTM12.5 and ITM+ACTM25, which involved adding extra ACTM to the ITM basal diet at 12.5% and 25%, respectively; and ITM125, which used 125% of the recommended levels of ITM in the basal diet. Compared with the HSC treatment, the TNC, ACTM100, and ITM+ACTM25 treatments resulted in increased (P < 0.05) body weight; tibia weight; tibia ash, phosphorus, iron, and manganese contents; secondary antibody titers; and serum TAC and SOD values but decreased (P < 0.05) serum MDA concentrations and the expression levels of the hepatic genes IL-1β, IL-6, and INF-γ. The TNC and ACTM100 groups also showed greater (P < 0.05) feed efficiency, tibia length, tibia zinc content, and hepatic SOD1 expression but exhibited reduced (P < 0.05) hepatic NF-kB expression. Significant increases (P < 0.05) in primary anti-NDV titers, serum GPx1 activity, and Nrf2 and GPx1 gene expression levels were also detected in the ACTM100, ITM+ACTM12.5, and ITM+ACTM25 groups. In conclusion, the findings suggest that replacing ITM with ACTM or adding ACTM to ITM diets, especially at a 25% higher dose, can effectively protect broilers from heat stress by promoting growth, reducing inflammation, and increasing the expression of antioxidant proteins. Water buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) is an important source of meat and milk in countries with relatively warm weather. Compared to the cattle genome, a little has been done to reveal its genome structure and genomic traits. This is due to the complications stemming from the large genome size, the complexity of the genome, and the high repetitive content. In this paper, we introduce a high-quality draft assembly of the Egyptian water buffalo genome. The Egyptian breed is used as a dual purpose animal (milk/meat). It is distinguished by its adaptability to the local environment, quality of feed changes, as well as its high resistance to diseases. The genome assembly of the Egyptian water buffalo has been achieved using a reference-based assembly workflow. Our workflow significantly reduced the computational complexity of the assembly process, and improved the assembly quality by integrating different public resources. We also compared our assembly to the currently available draft assemblies of water buffalo breeds. A total of 21,128 genes were identified in the produced assembly. A list of milk virgin-related genes; milk pregnancy-related genes; milk lactation-related genes; milk involution-related genes; and milk mastitis-related genes were identified in the assembly. Our results will significantly contribute to a better understanding of the genetics of the Egyptian water buffalo which will eventually support the ongoing breeding efforts and facilitate the future discovery of genes responsible for complex processes of dairy, meat production and disease resistance among other significant traits.

Adult intestinal epithelial stem cells are a promising resource for treatment of intestinal epithelial disorders that cause intestinal failure and for intestinal tissue engineering. We developed two different animal models to study the implantation of cultured murine and human intestinal epithelial cells in the less differentiated "spheroid" state and the more differentiated "enteroid" state into the denuded small intestine of mice. Engraftment of donor cells could not be achieved while the recipient intestine remained in continuity. However, we were able to demonstrate successful implantation of murine and human epithelial cells when the graft segment was in a bypassed loop of jejunum. Implantation of donor cells occurred in a random fashion in villus and crypt areas. Engraftment was observed in 75% of recipients for murine and 36% of recipients for human cells. Engrafted spheroid cells differentiated into the full complement of intestinal epithelial cells. These findings demonstrate for the first time successful engraftment into the small bowel which is optimized in a bypassed loop surgical model.

Introduction: Monitoring social inequalities in dental caries is crucial for establishing priorities in oral health systems. This study aimed to assess economic inequalities in dental caries and its contributing factors among Iranian schoolchildren. Methods: Data were obtained from the first phase of the Shahroud Schoolchildren Eye Cohort Study in 2015. A total of 4992 children aged 6–12 years old were included in the analysis. Dental examinations were conducted following the diagnostic methods and standards of the Oral Health Examination Survey, as recommended by the World Health Organization. The concentration index (C) was utilized to assess economic inequalities in dental caries. Additionally, the decomposition of C was employed to explain the determinants of the measured inequalities. Results: In total, 71.4% of the schoolchildren had dental caries in primary dentition (dft≥1), and 41.6% of the schoolchildren had dental caries in permanent dentition (DMFT≥1). The Cs of dft≥1, primary decayed teeth (pdt≥1), and permanent missing teeth (PMT≥1) were -0.136 (95% CI: -0.167, -0.104), -0.164 (95% CI: -0.194, -0.134), and -0.208 (95% CI: -0.262, -0.153), respectively, which indicates their more concentration among low-economic children. Conversely, pft≥1 and PFT≥1 had Cs of 0.327 (95% CI: 0.292, 0.361) and 0.218 (95% CI: 0.179, 0.256), showing more concentration among high-economic children. Basic health insurance coverage and age were the main contributors that explained 28.6% and 19.2% of the economic inequality in dft≥1, and 25.7% and 16.6% of the pdt≥1 inequality, respectively. Economic status, residence in rural areas, mother education, father education, and age were the main contributors to the measured inequality in pft≥1 by 80.5% and 26.5%, 21.9%, 22%, and -18.3%, respectively. Economic status, having a housekeeper mother, residence in rural areas, having basic health insurance coverage, mother education, and father education positively contributed to the measured inequality in PMT≥1 by 45.4%, 42.4%, 37.8%, 35.1%, 21.3%, and 15.2%, respectively, while age had a negative contribution of -19.3%. For PFT≥1, economic status, age, and father education accounted for 76%, 25.4%, and 20.3% of the measured inequality, respectively. Conclusion: Pro-rich economic inequalities were observed in children's primary and permanent teeth caries. Thus, government interventions to reduce these inequalities should aim to expand the coverage of basic and supplementary health insurance in line with increasing the coverage of dental health costs in these plans, training and providing access to required dental health services for low-socioeconomic children, including the poor, rural, and those who have low-educated parents and a housekeeper mother, especially at younger ages. We have addressed critical challenges in probiotic design to develop a commercially viable bacterial strain capable of removing the intestinal toxin, acetaldehyde. In this study, we report the engineering of the hag locus, a σD-dependent flagellin expression site, as a stable location for robust enzyme production. We demonstrate constitutive gene expression in relevant conditions driven by the endogenous hag promoter, following a deletion of the gene encoding a post-translational regulator of σD, FlgM, and a point mutation to abrogate the binding of the translational inhibitor CsrA. Reporter constructs demonstrate activity at the hag locus after germination, with a steady increase in heterologous expression throughout outgrowth and vegetative growth. To evaluate the chassis as a spore-based probiotic solution, we identified the physiologically relevant ethanol metabolic pathway and the subsequent accumulation of gut-derived acetaldehyde following alcohol consumption. We integrated a Cupriavidus necator aldehyde dehydrogenase gene (acoD) into the hag locus under the control of the flagellin promoter and observed a rapid reduction in acetaldehyde levels in gut-simulated conditions post-germination. In this study, the chaotic behavior of a second-order circuit comprising a nonlinear resistor and Chua's diode is investigated. This circuit, which includes a nonlinear capacitor and resistor among its components, is considered one of the simplest nonautonomous circuits. The research explores various oscillator characteristics, emphasizing their chaotic properties through bifurcations, Lyapunov exponents, periodicity, local Lyapunov region, and resonance. The system exhibits both stable equilibrium points and a chaotic attractor. Additionally, the second objective of this study is to develop a novel cryptographic technique by incorporating the designed circuit into the S-box method. The evaluation results suggest that this approach is suitable for secure cryptographic applications, providing insights into constructing a cryptosystem for images and text based on its complex behavior. Real-life data were analyzed using various statistical and performance criteria after applying the proposed methodology. These findings enhance the reliability of the cryptosystems. Moreover, The proposed methods are assessed using a range of statistical and performance metrics after testing the text and images. Introduction: Malaria poses a serious issue for pregnant women in African regions. It is crucial to comprehend the various factors that impact receiving IPTp during ANC checkups. These are important for the well-being of both pregnant mothers and their unborn children. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the determinants of IPTp coverage among women in Cameroon, Guinea, Mali, and Nigeria. Methodology: This cross-sectional study utilized secondary data from the Malaria Indicator Surveys (MIS) across Cameroon, Guinea, Mali, and Nigeria, focusing on women who received IPTp during pregnancy with IPTp categorized dichotomously as "Yes" for ANC visits and "No" for other visits. Chi-squared tests were used to assess associations, and binary logistic regression was conducted to calculate adjusted odds ratios, confidence intervals, and p-values. Results were summarized in tables. Results: We found IPTp coverage during ANC visits was highest in Cameroon (98.6%), followed by Guinea (97.7%), Mali (97.1%), and lowest in Nigeria (95.5%). In Guinea, rural women were less likely to receive IPTp than urban women (AOR: 0.16, 95% CI: 0.07–0.41, p<0.001). In Mali, women who received 3 or more doses were less likely to receive IPTp at ANC (AOR: 0.48, p<0.01). In Nigeria, personal transport increased IPTp uptake (AOR: 1.88, p<0.01). In Cameroon, malaria prevention messages improved IPTp coverage (AOR: 3.12, p<0.05). Conclusions: This study highlights significant disparities in IPTp uptake, with rural Mali and Guinea facing lower coverage. In Nigeria, personal transport improved IPTp uptake. Backgrounds: Phosphorus is a critical nutrient in agriculture, influencing plant growth and nutritional quality. Objectives: This study, uniquely designed to investigate the effects of phosphorus (P) fertilization levels, sorghum cultivars, and growing locations on phytochemical content and antioxidant activity in sorghum grains, employed four sorghum cultivars (Hakeka, P954063, Tabat, and Tetron) grown under three P levels (0P, 1P, 2P) in two locations (Gezira and White Nile) in Sudan. Methods: In this study, four sorghum cultivars were grown in two distinct locations in Sudan, employing a split-plot design with three (P) fertilization levels. P was applied as triple super phosphate directly with the seeds, and additional fertilization included urea applied in two split doses. At physiological maturity, representative sorghum panicles were harvested, processed, and analyzed for bioactive compounds and antioxidant activities using standard extraction and quantification techniques such as Folin-Ciocalteu for phenolics and colorimetric flavonoid assays. Antioxidant activities were assessed through various assays, including DPPH and FRAP. Statistical analyses were performed using a three-way ANOVA to examine the effects of cultivar, P level, and location on the measured parameters, supplemented by multivariate analysis to further elucidate the interactions between these factors. Results: Significant interactions (p<0.001) were observed among cultivars, P levels, and locations for total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), carotenoids, tannins, and various antioxidant activity measures (DPPH, FRAP, ABTS, TRP, H2O2). P fertilization significantly increased all measured phytochemicals and antioxidant activities compared to non-treated cultivars, except for H2O2, which decreased with P application. Among cultivars, Hakeka consistently exhibited the highest TFC, carotenoid content, and antioxidant activities (DPPH, FRAP, TRP, ABTS), particularly at the 2P level. P954063 showed the highest TPC and tannin concentrations. Tetron generally had the lowest phytochemical and antioxidant levels. White Nile showed higher TPC, carotenoids, DPPH, FRAP, TRP, and ABTS levels, while Gezira had higher TFC, tannins, and H2O2 concentrations. The impact of phosphorus fertilization often varies between locations. Strong positive correlations were found between TPC and all antioxidant assays (r = 0.68–0.90) and total carotenoids and antioxidant activities (r = 0.73–0.93). Conclusions: This study recommended cultivating the Tabat variety with 2P doses in Gezira. In addition, the Hakeka cultivar showed the highest increases in total flavonoid content, carotenoids, and antioxidant activities, particularly under the highest P level (2P). The findings highlight that P plays a critical role in enhancing sorghum's nutritional and health-promoting qualities, which are essential for leveraging this staple crop for food and nutrition security strategies in semi-arid regions. Background: Emerging technologies and societal changes create new ethical concerns and greater need for cross-disciplinary and cross–stakeholder communication on navigating ethics in research. Scholarly articles are the primary mode of communication for researchers, however there are concerns regarding the expression of research ethics in these outputs. If not in these outputs, where should researchers and stakeholders learn about the ethical considerations of research? Objectives: Drawing on a scoping review, analysis of policy in a specific disciplinary context (learning and technology), and reference group discussion, we address concerns regarding research ethics, in research involving emerging technologies through developing novel policy that aims to foster learning through the expression of ethical concepts in research. Approach: This paper develops new editorial policy for expression of research ethics in scholarly outputs across disciplines. These guidelines, aimed at authors, reviewers, and editors, are underpinned by: a cross-disciplinary scoping review of existing policy and adherence to these policies; a review of emerging policies, and policies in a specific discipline (learning and technology); and, a collective drafting process undertaken by a reference group of journal editors (the authors of this paper). Results: Analysis arising from the scoping review indicates gaps in policy across a wide range of journals (54% have no statement regarding reporting of research ethics), and adherence (51% of papers reviewed did not refer to ethics considerations). Analysis of emerging and discipline-specific policies highlights gaps. Conclusion: Our collective policy development process develops novel materials suitable for cross-disciplinary transfer, to address specific issues of research involving AI, and broader challenges of emerging technologies. This study aims to develop explainable AI methods for matching patients with phase 1 oncology clinical trials using Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to address challenges in patient recruitment for improved efficiency in drug development. A prototype system based on modern NLP techniques has been developed to match patient records with phase 1 oncology clinical trial protocols. Four criteria are considered for the matching: cancer type, performance status, genetic mutation, and measurable disease. The system outputs a summary matching score along with explanations of the evidence. The outputs of the AI system were evaluated against the ground truth matching results provided by the domain expert on a dataset of twelve synthesized dummy patient records and six clinical trial protocols. The system achieved a precision of 73.68%, sensitivity/recall of 56%, accuracy of 77.78%, and specificity of 89.36%. Further investigation into the misclassified cases indicated that ambiguity of abbreviation and misunderstanding of context are significant contributors to errors. The system found evidence of no matching for all false positive cases. To the best of our knowledge, no system in the public domain currently deploys an explainable AI-based approach to identify optimal patients for phase 1 oncology trials. This initial attempt to develop an AI system for patients and clinical trial matching in the context of phase 1 oncology trials showed promising results that are set to increase efficiency without sacrificing quality in patient-trial matching. Background: In Persian medicine, early diagnosis and treatment of stomach dystemperament is crucial for preventing other diseases. However, traditional medicine diagnosis often involves ambiguous and less structured information making it challenging for practitioners. Integrating fuzzy ontology with case-based reasoning (CBR) systems can enhance diagnostic accuracy in this filed. Objectives: This study aimed to develop and evaluate a fuzzy ontology-based CBR system for diagnosing and treating stomach dystemperament in Persian medicine. Methods: This was a mixed-methods research in which a fuzzy ontology-based CBR system was developed based on the fuzzy features, utilizing trapezoidal, triangular, right shoulder and left shoulder membership functions to represent linguistic variables such as hunger level and digestion power. The research phases included identifying relevant terms, concepts, and relationships, developing the fuzzy case-base ontology using the IKARUS-Onto methodology, and subsequently designing and implementing the CBR system. The system performance was evaluated in terms of its sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, precision, and F1-score. Results: Initially, a case-base fuzzy ontology was created. Then, the database was built up using 88 expert-validated medical records. Of these cases, 72% (63 cases) were diagnosed with phlegmatic dystemperament, 18% (16 cases) with cold-dry dystemperament, and 10% (9 cases) had no stomach dystemperament. The CBR system was developed and evaluated using sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, precision, and F1-score which were 97.5%, 87.5%, 96.6%, 98.7%, and 98.1%, respectively. Conclusions: Our fuzzy ontology-based CBR demonstrated high performance in diagnosing stomach dystemperament in Persian medicine. This system shows promise in improving diagnostic accuracy and facilitating the identification of similar cases. Background: Substance abuse admission to health facilities following the pandemic is often met with challenges. COVID-19 is causing an insurmountable psychosocial impact on the whole of mankind. Marginalized communities, particularly those with substance use disorders (SUDs), are also likely to suffer from greater psychosocial burden. Objectives: This study sought to evaluate substance abuse trends before and during the pandemic. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among patients attending selected government hospitals in Malaysia. Data from the year 2018 to 2021 was utilized. Results: A total of 9,606 patients consisting of 7881 males and 1725 females were identified. Most of the patients involved with substance abuse from 2018 to 2021 were males, aged between 26 and 44 years old, Malays, high school students, singles, workers of private sectors and those residing in urban areas. The most abused substances over the four years were tobacco (61.8%), followed by amphetamine-type stimulants (ATS) (43.1%), alcohol (39.7%), cannabis (17.2%), opioids (13.0%), and kratom (8.8%). Those who worked in the private sector and were self-employed or unemployed were more associated with substance abuse during the pandemic compared to those who worked in the government sector. Those with a history of psychiatric illness were more associated with abuse of substances during the pandemic than those without the history (adjusted OR: 1.18, 95% CI 1.09–1.29, p <0.001). Conclusions: Targeted exploration of factors affecting substance abuse in Malaysia is essential. This review aimed to systematically compare and pool the prevalence of all the known evidence on caregiver hesitancy and to describe the factors influencing vaccine hesitancy among caregiver worldwide such as COVID-19, MMR, Influenza, HPV and others. We searched article from few electronic databases (PubMed, CENTRAL, ProQuest, and Web of Science) from inception to August 2023 using specific keywords for example caregiver, parents, prevalence, factor, hesitancy, and others. We included population-based studies that reported the prevalence of caregiver hesitancy. We used random-effects meta-analyses for pool prevalence estimates of caregiver hesitancy. A total of 765 studies met our inclusion criteria, containing data on 38,210,589 caregivers from seven regions across the globe. Overall or pool prevalence of vaccine hesitancy among caregiver is 25.0% (95% CI: 0.22–0.27, I2 = 99.91%, p = 0.001). Based on the evidence gathered, vaccine hesitancy was found to be religious sentiments, personal beliefs, perceived safety concerns, and a desire for more information from healthcare providers, along with factors related to availability, accessibility, affordability, and acceptability of vaccinations. Vaccine safety and efficiency have been identified as the main factor for caregiver vaccine hesitancy globally with a prevalence of 91.4%. There has been a lack of a satisfactory solution for identifying and locating evolving faults in unbalanced distribution systems. The proposed approach is based on the cross-correlation technique as a key element for fault detection and location. Evolving faults, in this context, refer to two sequential faults that result in a change of fault phase. The captured QRS value reflects the occurrence of the second fault occurrence. In order to identify Evolving Faults, it makes use of the signal that is currently being monitored at any given point in the network. Typical system occurrences, such as a short circuit fault that grew into another short circuit fault, as well as cross-country faults, are simulated, and according to the suggested technique, they are accurately differentiated from one another. Using a real-time simulator, rigorous simulations are performed on the modified IEEE 240 bus distribution system. The results of these simulations reveal that they have the potential to uncover defects that are constantly changing. Regardless of the fault (location\resistance\inception angle), location of the monitored point, or sample frequency that is selected, the suggested approach is unaffected by any of these factors. High effective low-cost substance derived from agriculture-based waste towards a circular economy concept showed a significant green approach for pharmaceuticals uptake in aqueous solution. Beachwood sawdust was used as the source of cellulose based adsorbents. Cellulose is isolated from the waste and in parallel magnetite nanoparticles are prepared by the simple co-precipitation technique and the two substances are mixed in various proportions to be acetaminophen adsorbent. Characteristics of the prepared magnetite (M)/sawdust (SD) composite in various proportions (M:SD (1:1), M:SD (1:2), M:SD (1:3), M:SD (1:5) and M:SD (2:1) were assessed using scanning electron microscope (SEM) transmission electron microscope (TEM) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD) which revealed the presence magnetite and cellulose. Also, for the object of recoverable adsorbent, vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) of the adsorbent is investigated to evaluate its sustainability. The highest removal rate was associated with M:SD (1:2) compared to the other composites and the pristine magnetite or sawdust materials within 2 hours of isotherm time. The adsorption parameters are optimized and the maximal yield is attained at pH (7.0), adsorbent dose of 2.0 g/L at room temperature. The adsorption matrix is following Langmuir model and fitted to the second-order kinetic model. The process is exothermic in nature and highlighted physisorption tendency. Background: Prehypertension is a preclinical state of hypertension which leads to an increased likelihood of coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular disease as well as target organ damage. Addressing pre-hypertension through early lifestyle interventions is crucial to mitigating these detrimental effects and improving long-term health outcomes. So, the main objective of this study is to develop a lifestyle intervention program (LSIP) for the management of prehypertension using consensus building approach. Methods: It was a three round online modified Delphi study with 70 members panellists. All panellists had an experience of prehypertension either as patients (n = 30) or professionals (n = 40). Round 1 included initial recommendations developed from a previous systematic review and metanalysis, which were rated by panellists for their importance on a 5-point Likert scale. Panellists could also suggest additional items in the Round 1. Round 2 and 3 included all items from the Round 1 with new items suggested by the panellists. Data was analysed descriptively using SPSS version 29. All items receiving at least 70% of all respondents combined rating of 'Important' and 'Very Important' in Round 3 were included in the final set of recommendations. Results: Fifty-one panellists (80.9%) (patients = 25, professionals = 26) completed Round 3. Twenty-six recommendation items were included in the Round 1. Twenty new items were added in Round 2 with 46 total items in Round 2 and 3. Thirty-five of these items reached consensus in Round 3. The final set of recommendation comprised of 15 educational. 10 dietary, and 10 exercise recommendations. Conclusion: This modified Delphi study developed a comprehensive LSIP for the prevention of prehypertension, incorporating a holistic approach with educational, dietary, and exercise components aimed at the general population. Previously established standards of care (SOC) for managing prehypertension varied significantly and often provided fragmented guidance particularly on physical activity and education. This preventive model offers a novel and scalable approach for early intervention in prehypertension, potentially reducing reliance on medications and improving long-term health outcomes. In the proposed protection coordination scheme, the depreciation of the operation time of the entire relay in the primary and backup protection modes for all possible fault locations is considered as the objective function. The limitations of this problem include the equations for calculating the operation time of the relays in both forward and reverse directions, the limitation of the coordination time interval, the limitation of the setting parameters of the proposed relays, the restriction of the size of the reactance that limits the fault current, and the limitation of the standing time of distributed generation per small signal fault. The operation time of the relays depends on the short circuit current passing through them, so it is necessary to calculate the network variables before the fault occurs. For this purpose, optimal daily power distribution should be used in the micro-grid, because micro-grids consist of storage and renewable resources. The proposed plan includes the uncertainties of consumption and generation capacity of renewable resources. Then, to achieve a reliable answer with a low standard deviation, the refrigeration optimization algorithm is used to solve the proposed problem. Background: Malawi has one of the highest incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer in the world. Despite a national strategic plan and the roll-out of VIA and screen-and-treat services, cervical cancer screening coverage in Malawi remains far below the national target.Using a nationally representative sample of women enumerated in the Malawi Population-based Impact Assessment (MPHIA) survey we estimated the prevalence and spatial distribution of self-reported cervical cancer screening as a proxy for uptake in Malawi. Methods: MPHIA was a nationally representative household survey in Malawi, targeting adults aged 15 and above, that employed a cross-sectional, two-stage, cluster design. The primary aim of MPHIA was to assess the regional prevalence of viral load suppression and the progress towards achieving the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals among adults aged 15 and above. The survey was carried out between January 2020 and April 2021. Prevalence of self-reported cervical cancer screening by different characteristics was estimated accounting for the survey design using the Taylor series approach. We used univariable and multivariable logistic regression approaches to examine associations between the prevalence of cervical cancer screening and demographic characteristics. Findings: A total of 13,067 adult (15 years and older) female individuals were surveyed during the MPHIA 2020 to 2021 survey, corresponding to a weighted total of 5,604,578. The prevalence of self-reported cervical cancer screening was 16.5% (95% CI 15.5–18.0%), with women living with HIV having a higher prevalence of 37.8% (95% CI 34.8–40.9) compared to 14.0% (95% CI 13.0–15.0) in HIV negative women. The highest prevalence of screening was reported in the Southwest zone (SWZ) (24.1%, 95% CI 21.3–26.9) and in major cities of Blantyre (25.9%, 95% CI 22.9–29.0), and Lilongwe (19.6%, 95% CI 18.0–21.3). Higher self-reported screening was observed in women who resided in urban regions ((22.7%; 95% CI 21.4–24.0) versus women who resided in rural areas (15.2%; 95% CI 14.0–16.8). Cervical cancer screening was strongly associated with being HIV positive (aOR 2.83; 95% CI 2.29–3.50), ever having been pregnant (aOR 1.93; 95% CI 1.19–3.14), attaining higher education level than secondary education (aOR 2.74; 95% CI 1.67–4.52) and being in the highest wealth quintile (aOR 2.86; 95% CI 2.01–4.08). Interpretation: The coverage of cervical cancer screening in Malawi remains low and unequal by region and wealth/education class. Current screening efforts are largely being focussed on women accessing HIV services. Power transformers are essential elements in power systems and thus their protection schemes have critical importance. In this paper, a scheme is proposed for accurate discrimination and location of internal faults in power transformers using conventional measuring devices attached to the transformer. Different types of internal winding faults are intensely considered: partial discharge, inter-disk faults, series and shunt short circuit faults and axial displacement. Depending on the transformer measured output voltage, input voltage and the input current, the construction of a locus diagram (ΔV-Iin) serves as an indicator for any physical modification to the winding. Using five suggested features extracted from the developed locus, an artificial neural network (ANN) technique is applied to accurately distinguish any deviation from the transformer healthy condition. The exact location of each fault inside the windings of power transformer is then determined. The obtained results validate the usefulness of the proposed scheme for different internal faults. Buffalo meat is naturally perishable, making it susceptible to spoilage due to its high moisture content and vulnerability to microbial contamination. Edible coatings have attracted attention as a packaging method that can prolong the shelf life of meat. The study aimed to examine the impact of a combination of Lepidium sativum mucilage (LS) coating and propolis extract (PE) on prolonging the shelf life of buffalo meat. The chemical characteristics (chemical compounds, total phenol content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), antioxidant activity, and cytotoxicity) and antimicrobial activity of the PE (disk diffusion agar, well diffusion agar, minimum inhibitory concentration, and minimum bactericidal concentration) were investigated. The effect of the PE on the cell wall of pathogenic bacteria was examined using a scanning electron microscope. Biological properties of LS (TPC, TFC, antioxidant activity and antimicrobial effect (pour plate method)) was investigated. Different concentrations of PE (0, 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5%) were added to the coating mixture containing LS, and their effects on extending the shelf life of buffalo meat samples stored at 4°C for 9 days were assessed. The PE included gallic acid, benzoic acid, syringic acid, 4–3 dimethoxy cinnamic acid, p-coumaric acid, myricetin, caffeic acid, luteolin, chlorogenic acid, and apigenin. The PE was determined to have a TPC of 36.67 ± 0.57 mg GAE/g and a TFC of 48.02 ± 0.65 mg QE/g. The extract's radical scavenging activity ranged from 0 to 76.22% for DPPH radicals and from 0 to 50.31% for ABTS radicals. The viability of C115 HeLa cell was observed to be 94.14 μg/mL. The PE and LS, exhibited strong antimicrobial properties against pathogenic bacteria. The LS was determined to have a TPC of 15.23 ± 0.43 mg GAE/g and a TFC of 11.51± 0.61 mg QE/g. The LS was determined to have a DPPH of 429.65 ± 1.28 μg/mL and a ABTS of 403.59 ± 1.46 μg/mL. The microbiological analysis revealed that the LS+2.5%PE treatment was the most effective in inhibiting the growth of total viable count (6.23 vs. 8.00 log CFU/g), psychrotrophic bacteria count (3.71 vs. 4.73 log CFU/g), coliforms count (2.78 vs. 3.70 log CFU/g), and fungi count (2.39 vs. 3.93 log CFU/g) compared to the control sample. The addition of PE to the edible coating also demonstrated a concentration-dependent effect on preserving the moisture, pH, color, and hardness of the buffalo meat. Sensory evaluation results suggested that incorporating PE into the edible coating extended the shelf life of buffalo meat by three days. In the second stage of this paper, this investigation employed two distinct forecasting methodologies: the Radial Basis Function (RBF) and the Support Vector Machine (SVM), to predict a range of quality indicators for coated meat products. Upon comparison, the RBF model exhibited a higher level of accuracy, showcasing its exceptional capacity to closely match the experimental outcomes. Cancer patients often grapple with substantial out-of-pocket (OOP) expenses and productivity loss, with the ramifications being particularly crucial for lower-income households. This study aims to estimate OOP costs incurred by cancer patients, assess their productivity loss, and analyse the financial coping mechanisms employed by individuals within the lower-income bracket. The study employed face-to-face interviews among cancer patients aged 40 years and above, currently undergoing treatment, and belonging to the lower-income group. Participants were recruited from six public cancer referral hospitals. OOP expenses, encompassing medical and non-medical costs, along with productivity loss, were measured. A generalized linear model was applied to identify potential OOP determinants. Additionally, the coping mechanisms employed by individuals to finance their cancer OOP expenses were also determined. Among the 430 participants recruited, predominantly female (63.5%), and aged 60 or older (53.9%). The annual mean total cancer costs per patient were US$ 2,398.28 (±2,168.74), including 15% for medical costs US$ 350.95 (±560.24), 34% for non-medical costs US$820.24 (±818.24), and 51% for productivity loss costs US$1,227.09 (±1,809.09). Transportation, nutritional supplements, outpatient treatment, and medical supplies were notable cost contributors to total OOP expenditures. Ethnicity (β = 1.44; 95%CI = 1.15–1.79), household income (β = 1.40; 95%CI = 1.10–1.78), annual outpatient visits (β = 1.00; 95%CI = 1.00–1.01), age (β = 0.74; 95%CI = 0.56–0.98), and employment status (β = 0.54; 95%CI = 0.72–1.34) were identified as significant predictors of OOP costs among cancer patients. Notably, 91% of participants relied on household salaries and savings, while 15% resorted to interest-free borrowing, 11% sold possessions, and 0.5% borrowed with interest to finance their expenses. This study offers crucial insights into the economic impact of cancer on individuals and their families, providing policymakers with valuable information to tackle challenges faced in their journey. Despite substantial public healthcare subsidies, the study revealed that cancer costs can remain a potential barrier to accessing essential treatment. The ongoing conflict in Sudan has severely disrupted the health professions education, notably in dentistry. This study aims to explore the impact of the armed conflict on dental education and training. A mixed-method cross-sectional study encompassed 29 dental schools in Khartoum, Darfur, Kordofan States, and Merowe City. Five key informants from the Sudanese Medical Specialization Board, the Human Resource Development Administration, and a university offering clinical dental master's programs were interviewed. Quantitative data on attacks against dental schools were collected through a structured Google form, and qualitative data on postgraduate training were obtained through semi-structured key informant interviews. Findings reveal that 79.3% of dental schools faced military assaults, with 73.9% experiencing looting and 60.9% repurposed as military bases. Notably, 44.8% of schools shifted to online education,3.4% collaborated with other universities, and 27.6% adopted a combined approach. Key informants' interviews unveiled disruptions in specialty training and housemanship, limiting access to crucial training facilities. The primary proposed solution was overseas training. Recurrently emphasized strategies to enhance the resilience of the training system included establishing dental centers in all states, collaborating with external training bodies, and anticipating and preparing for potential disasters. The adverse effects of the conflict on both undergraduate and postgraduate dental education are discernible, manifested through resource limitations, a shortage of dental materials and supplies within training facilities, and direct disruptions to clinical training due to attacks on healthcare institutions. One of the most significant medicinal plants used to treat numerous illnesses is Swertia chirayita. The present study demonstrated the compositional analysis of the Swertia chirayita (S. chirayita) plant using an emerging and non-destructive laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) technique. Mg, Ca, K, Fe, Sr, Cr, and Na were verified as necessary elements by the optical emission investigations, while Al, Ti, Si, Ba, Mn, and Li were non-essential. Using the Boltzmann plot technique with stark broadening parameters, plasma temperature and electron number density were calculated in the range of (10,000–12,000) K ±1000 K and (1.5–1.8) × 1017 cm-3, respectively. Finally, compositional analysis was carried out using calibration-free (CF-LIBS) analysis and results were compared with ICP-MS. It was observed that the concentration of Ca and Fe is higher than other detected elements. All the toxic elements are found to be within the safe limit. Background: Snakebite statistics in Sudan are lacking despite the high estimated burden of the problem. One study in Sudan reported the presence of 17 medically significant snakes belonging to three major families: Burrowing asps, Elapidae, and Viperidae. These snakes usually become abundant during and after the rainy season, and most snakebite victims are farm workers. This study was set out based on the observed snakebite management, poor outcomes and lack of information on the healthcare provider's knowledge of this serious, deadly medical and health condition in snakebite-endemic regions of Sudan. Materials and methods: In August 2022, a descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted involving 394 medical and healthcare providers in snakebite-endemic regions of Sudan (Gaddarif, Sinnar, Khartoum, and Kassala). A validated questionnaire was used. It consisted of seven sections addressing the study population demographic characteristics, knowledge of snakes, snakebites, and their management. Data analysis used various statistical tests using Microsoft Excel and the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 20 (IBM SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL) was done. Results: Among the 394 participants (44.7% males, 53.3% females), 58.1% demonstrated adequate knowledge of snakes, and 45.3% exhibited adequate knowledge of snakebites. A mere 25.9% received training in snakebite management, with 60.4% possessing adequate knowledge in this domain. Only 14% expressed high confidence in managing snakebites, and 40.9% reported having protocols for snakebite management at their health facilities. Conclusion: The study highlighted the inadequacy of healthcare providers' knowledge in snakebite-endemic areas in Sudan regarding snakes, snakebites and snakebites management. In this study, we conducted a case-control investigation to assess the immunogenicity and effectiveness of primary and first booster homologous and heterologous COVID-19 vaccination regimens against infection and hospitalization, targeting variants circulating in Lebanon during 2021–2022. The study population comprised active Lebanese military personnel between February 2021 and September 2022. Vaccine effectiveness (VE) against laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection and associated hospitalization was retrospectively determined during different variant-predominant periods using a case-control study design. Vaccines developed by Sinopharm, Pfizer, and AstraZeneca as well as Sputnik V were analyzed. Prospective assessment of humoral immune response, which was measured based on the SARS-CoV-2 antispike receptor binding domain IgG titer, was performed post vaccination at various time points, focusing on Sinopharm and Pfizer vaccines. Statistical analyses were performed using IBM SPSS and GraphPad Prism. COVID-19 VE remained consistently high before the emergence of the Omicron variant, with lower estimates during the Delta wave than those during the Alpha wave for primary vaccination schemes. However, vaccines continued to offer significant protection against infection. VE estimates consistently decreased for the Omicron variant across post-vaccination timeframes and schemes. VE against hospitalization declined over time and was influenced by the variant. No breakthrough infections progressed to critical or fatal COVID-19. Immunogenicity analysis revealed that the homologous Pfizer regimen elicited a stronger humoral response than Sinopharm, while a heterologous Sinopharm/Pfizer regimen yielded comparable results to the Pfizer regimen. Over time, both Sinopharm's and Pfizer's primary vaccination schemes exhibited decreased humoral immunity titers, with Pfizer being a more effective booster than Sinopharm. This study, focusing on healthy young adults, provides insights into VE during different pandemic waves. Green lacewing, Chrysoperla carnea (Stephens) is a generalist predator used as a biological control agent in agro ecosystems. In order to use chemical and biological control in an integrated way, it is advantageous to know about natural enemy resistance response to a selected chemical. To determine C. carnea spirotetramat resistance potential, a population collected from the field was selected in the laboratory. Then we determined how spirotetramat resistance was inherited and how much it impacts the fitness of C. carnea. After eighteen selections with spirotetramat, the selected population (Spiro-Sel) of C. carnea had a 47-fold of resistance when compared to an UNSEL population. Inheritance results showed that spirotetramat resistance was inherited as an autosomal, incompletely dominant and polygenic trait. The values of effective dominance decreased from 0.87 (incomplete dominant) to 0.00 (complete recessive) as the concentration of spirotetramat increased from 625 mg/L to 10000 mg/L. The Spiro-Sel strain had no cross resistance to chlorfenapyr (1.10-fold), deltamethrin (1.26-fold) and chlorpyrifos (1.27-fold). After 7 generations without selection pressure resistance to all experimental insecticides in the Spiro-Sel strain was stable. Fitness data of the Spiro-Sel, Cross A, Cross B, UNSEL and susceptible strains of C. carnea showed that spirotetramat resistance increased the fitness of the selected green lacewing population. Life history parameters like fecundity, net reproductive rate, and relative fitness of the Spiro-Sel strain significantly increased when compared to the susceptible or unselected strains of C. carnea. These findings show that C. carnea is a perfect candidate for integrated pest management (IPM) programmes that combine biological control methods with selective pesticide applications to manage a variety of insect pests. Additionally, it would reduce the possibility of pests developing pesticide resistance despite repeated applications. Excessive internet usage can precipitate internet addiction (IA), negatively impacting lifestyle behaviors, especially during adolescence. These warrants investigating associations between IA and lifestyle factors. To examine the relationship between IA and health-promoting lifestyle dimensions among Iranian high school students. A cross-sectional study was conducted among 407 students from Sanandaj, Iran selected via cluster sampling. IA was assessed using the Young IA Test. Lifestyle was measured via the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile questionnaire. Regression analyses evaluated associations while adjusting for covariates. Approximately 25% of participants were at risk of internet addiction. Prevalence variations across groups lacked significance. Non-addicted students had significantly higher overall healthy lifestyle scores (p<0.05). Spiritual growth, health responsibility and nutrition scores significantly differed between addicted and non-addicted students. Regression analyses revealed a statistically significant negative correlation between IA and lifestyle even after adjustment (p<0.001). Nutrition and physical activity scores particularly declined for those at risk of addiction. IA was significantly associated with unhealthy dietary habits, sedentary behavior, and a lower healthy lifestyle. It may also hinder stress management and spiritual well-being. With rising internet integration, collaborative awareness programs between educational institutions, families, and communities are warranted to curb addiction risks and promote healthy lifestyles in youth. Background: The increasing prevalence of diabetes and the side effects associated with current medications necessitate the development of novel candidate drugs targeting alpha-glucosidase as a potential treatment option. Methods: This study employed computer-aided drug design techniques to identify potential alpha-glucosidase inhibitors from the PubChem database. Molecular docking was used to evaluate 81,197 compounds, narrowing the set for further analysis and providing insights into ligand-target interactions. An ADMET study assessed the pharmacokinetic properties of these compounds, including absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity. Molecular dynamics simulations validated the docking results. Results: 9 compounds were identified as potential candidate drugs based on their ability to form stable complexes with alpha-glucosidase and their favorable pharmacokinetic profiles, three of these compounds were subjected to the molecular dynamics, which showed stability throughout the entire 100 ns simulation. Conclusion: These findings suggest promising new alpha-glucosidase inhibitors for diabetes treatment. Background: To describe Purtscher's and Purtscher-like retinopathy clinical features, etiologies, management options, and visual outcomes. Seven online databases were searched: PubMed, Scopus, Medline, ScienceDirect, CENTRAL, clinicaltrials.gov, and Google Scholar. The primary outcome is to describe the clinical features of Purtscher and Purtscher-like retinopathies, including etiologies, results of related investigations, management lines, and visual outcomes. All analyses were conducted with the use of Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 27 (IBM SPSS Corp, SPSS Statistics ver. 26, USA) and Cochrane's RevMan software. The methodological quality of included studies was assessed using the NIH quality assessment tools. Results: A total of 114 articles were included, describing 168 cases of Purtscher's and Purtscher-like retinopathy. Patients were evenly distributed between males (50.89%) and females (49.11%). Average age of patients was 34.62 years old. Trauma was the leading cause of retinopathy, being reported in 39.88% of our patients, followed by systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) (13.1%) and acute pancreatitis (11.9%). Bilateral symptoms were reported in 57.7% of patients with centrally blurred vision being the most complained symptom (OS: 34.32% and OD: 18%). 75% of patients elicited bilateral retinal findings. Cotton-wool spots were of highest prevalence (58%). Purtscher flecken was seen in 53% of patients. Macular edema was seen in 13% of patients. Overall, patients had a favorable prognosis (53%). Conclusion: Purtscher's and Purtscher-like retinopathies are rare sight-threatening retinopathies that develop most commonly following trauma or other systemic diseases as SLE and acute pancreatitis. Little data is available regarding these conditions, and available data is of low quality. Patients develop bilateral disease in approximately 50% of cases, and several retinal findings are observed, with no specific tendency. Most observed signs are cotton-wool spots in around 55% of patients and Purtscher flecken in 51% of patients. Patients spontaneously recovered, although data is not conclusive. This study investigated the virulence potential and antibiotic susceptibility analysis of non-O157 Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) serogroups, which are significant cause of food borne diseases. A study collected 800 samples of dairy bovine raw milk through various sources, 500 from milk shops, 200 from dairy farms, 26 from milk collection centers, and 74 from street vendors. Using a standard method, E. coli was detected in 321 out of the 800 samples collected. Out of the 321 E. coli-positive samples isolated, 148 were identified as STEC using selective media, specifically Cefixime Tellurite Sorbitol MacConkey's Agar (CT-SMA). Out of the 148 positive samples, 40 were confirmed as STEC non-O157 strains using multiplex PCR, indicating a prevalence of 5% (40 out of 800 samples). STEC isolates were subjected to antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and all isolates were resistant to at least one or more antimicrobials tested through the disk diffusion method, revealed high resistance to Amoxicillin 100%, Ceftriaxone 50%, and Penicillin 44.5%, and notably 44% of the strains exhibited Streptomycin resistance, while Enrofloxacin 55%, Florfenicol 50% and Norfloxacin 44%, demonstrated the highest susceptibility. Out of 40 STEC non-O157, twelve were subjected to Multi Locus Sequence Typing (MLST) sequencing through Illumina Inc. MiSeq platform's next-generation sequencing technology, United States. The genome investigation evidenced the persistence of twelve serotypes H4:O82, H30:O9a, H4:O82, H16:O187, H9:O9, H16:O113, H30:O9, H32:O, H32:O, H32, H32, and H38:O187, linked to the potential infections in humans. Conclusion: STEC isolates showed resistance to multiple antimicrobials, raising concerns for both animal and public health due to widespread use of these drugs in treatment and prevention. The study contributes new insights into monitoring STEC in raw milk, emphasizing the critical role of whole genome sequencing (WGS) for genotyping and sequencing diverse isolates. Still a deficiency in understanding STEC pathogenesis mechanisms, ongoing surveillance is crucial for safeguarding human health and enhancing understanding of STEC genetic characteristics. Protein thermostability engineering is a powerful tool to improve resistance of proteins against high temperatures and thereafter broaden their applications. For efficient protein thermostability engineering, different thermostability-classified data sources including sequences and 3D structures are needed for different protein families. However, no data source is available providing such data easily. It is the first release of ProtDataTherm database for analysis and engineering of protein thermostability which contains more than 14 million protein sequences categorized based on their thermal stability and protein family. This database contains data needed for better understanding protein thermostability and stability engineering. Providing categorized protein sequences and structures as psychrophilic, mesophilic and thermophilic makes this database useful for the development of new tools in protein stability prediction. As a proof of concept, the thermostability that improves mutations were suggested for one sample protein belonging to one of protein families with more than 20 mesophilic and thermophilic sequences and with known experimentally measured ΔT of mutations available within ProTherm database.
