Information accessibility is a pivotal factor influencing farmers' adoption of Agricultural Green Production Technologies (AGPT). However, the widespread issue of information poverty presents a significant obstacle to this adoption process, thereby hindering the progression towards sustainable agricultural development. To address this information deficit, farmers have begun to utilize the Internet and participate in government-led onsite assembly training programs to acquire the necessary knowledge. Yet there is still a lack of research evidence on the effectiveness and comparative advantages of internet and offline training. This study explores the impact of various information access channels on farmers' adoption of green production technologies in agriculture, focusing on a sample of 731 family farms located in Sichuan Province. The issue of endogeneity was addressed using the Conditional Mixed Process Estimation Method. The sample underwent a t-test and heterogeneity analysis. The findings revealed that both internet-based information access and participation in training significantly bolstered farmers' adoption of AGPT, with the former proving to be more effective. Notably, heterogeneity was observed among farmers, differentiated by age and the number of village cadres within their family units.

At present, the mechanism of fluorosis-induced damage to the hepatic system is unclear. Studies have shown that excess fluoride causes some degree of damage to the liver, including inflammation. The SDF-1/CXCR4 signaling axis has been reported to have an impact on the regulation of inflammation in human cells. In this study, we investigated the role of the SDF-1/CXCR4 signaling axis and related inflammatory factors in fluorosis through in vitro experiments on human hepatic astrocytes (LX-2) cultured with sodium fluoride. CCK-8 assays showed that the median lethal dose at 24 h was 2 mmol/l NaF, and these conditions were used for subsequent enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) analysis. The protein expression levels of SDF-1/CXCR4 and the related inflammatory factors nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and interleukin 1β (IL-1β) were detected by ELISAs from the experimental and control groups. The mRNA expression levels of these inflammatory indicators were also determined by qPCR in both groups. Moreover, the expression levels of these factors were significantly higher in the experimental group than in the control group at both the protein and mRNA levels (P < 0.05). Excess fluorine may stimulate the SDF-1/CXCR4 signaling axis, activating the inflammatory NF-κB signaling pathway and increasing the expression levels of the related inflammatory factors IL-6, TNF-α and IL-1β. Identification of this mechanism is important for elucidating the pathogenesis of fluorosis-induced liver injury.

BackgroundThe impact of bacterial vaginosis on women's health is an increasing concern; however, the effect of the obesity index on bacterial vaginosis is controversial. We investigated the association between body mass index and bacterial vaginosis in women in the United States.MethodsThis was a cross-sectional study which obtained the data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2001 to 2004, in which weighted multivariate regression and logistic regression analyses were performed to explore the independent relationship between body mass index and bacterial vaginosis. Subgroup analyses and smoothed curve fitting were also performed.ResultsA total of 5,428 participants were enrolled, and the findings show that the participants with higher body mass index tended to have a higher incidence of bacterial vaginosis. In the fully adjusted model, a positive association between bacterial vaginosis and body mass index was observed (Odd's ratio = 1.03, 95% Confidence interval, 1.01-1.04). The subgroup analysis showed that this positive association was significant in non-Hispanic White individuals (Odd's ratio = 1.0327, 95% Confidence interval, 1.0163, 1.0493).ConclusionIncreased bacterial vaginosis positivity may be associated with an increased body mass index.

BackgroundPreterm infants have imperfect neurological development, uncoordinated sucking-swallowing-breathing, which makes it difficult to realize effective oral feeding after birth. How to help preterm infants achieve complete oral feeding as soon as possible has become an important issue in the management of preterm infants. Non-nutritive sucking (NNS), as a useful oral stimulation, can improve the effect of oral feeding in preterm infants. This review aimed to explore the effect of NNS on oral feeding progression through a meta-analysis.MethodsWe systematically searched PubMed, CINHAL, Web of Science, Embase, Cochrane databases, China's National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang and VIP database from inception to January 20, 2024. Search terms included 'non-nutritive sucking' 'oral feeding' and 'premature.' Eligibility criteria involved randomized controlled studies in English or Chinese. Studies were excluded if they were reviews, case reports, or observational studies from which valid data could not be extracted or outcome indicators were poorly defined. The meta-analysis will utilize Review Manager 5.3 software, employing either random-effects or fixed-effects models based on observed heterogeneity. We calculated the mean difference (MD) and 95% confidence interval (CI) for continuous data, and estimated pooled odds ratios (ORs) for dichotomous data. Sensitivity and publication bias analyses were conducted to ensure robust and reliable findings. We evaluated the methodological quality of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) utilizing the assessment tool provided by the Cochrane Collaboration.ResultsA total of 23 randomized controlled trials with 1461 preterm infants were included. The results of the meta-analysis showed that NNS significantly shortened time taken to achieve exclusive oral feeding (MD = -5.37,95%CI = -7.48 to-3.26, pConclusionNNS improves oral feeding outcomes in preterm infants and reduces the time to reach full oral feeding and hospitalization length. However, this study was limited by the relatively small sample size of included studies and did not account for potential confounding factors. There was some heterogeneity and bias between studies. More studies are needed in the future to validate the effects on weight gain and growth in preterm infants. Nevertheless, our meta-analysis provides valuable insights, updating existing evidence on NNS for improving oral feeding in preterm infants and promoting evidence-based feeding practices in this population.

Pollution in the environment is today the biggest issue facing the globe and the main factor in the development of many fatal diseases. The main objective of the study to investigate green investments, economic growth and financial development on environmental pollution in the G-7 countries. This study used annual penal data from 1997 to 2021. The panel NARDL (Non-linear autoregressive distributed lag) results affirm that the positive change of green investment and negative shock in green investment have a significant and positive association with environment pollution in G-7 nations. Our findings provide more evidence for the long-term asymmetry between financial development and environmental performance. However, the findings confirm that a positive modification in financial development has a positive and significant effect on environment pollution. Whereas negative shock in financial development is negative and insignificant relationship with environment pollution. Moreover, the outcomes of the study reveal that both positive shock in gross domestic product growth and negative shock of economic growth have a significant and positive link with environment pollution in G-7 countries. According to the findings, by lowering carbon dioxide emissions, green investments reduced environmental pollution in the G-7 nations over the long and short term. Moreover, it is an innovative research effort that provides light on the connection between green investments, financial development, and the environment while making mention to the EKC in G-7 countries. After all these, our recommendation is to increases green investment expenditures to reduce environmental pollution in the G-7 nations based on our findings. Additionally, one important way for the nation to achieve its sustainable development goals is to improve advancements in the financial sector.

BackgroundLiver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) is a prevalent form of primary liver cancer. Research has demonstrated the contribution of tumor stem cells in facilitating tumor recurrence, metastasis, and treatment resistance. Despite this, there remains a lack of established cancer stem cells (CSCs)-associated genes signatures for effectively predicting the prognosis and guiding the treatment strategies for patients diagnosed with LIHC.MethodsThe single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and bulk RNA transcriptome data were obtained based on public datasets and computerized firstly using CytoTRACE package and One Class Linear Regression (OCLR) algorithm to evaluate stemness level, respectively. Then, we explored the association of stemness indicators (CytoTRACE score and stemness index, mRNAsi) with survival outcomes and clinical characteristics by combining clinical information and survival analyses. Subsequently, weighted co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and Cox were applied to assess mRNAsi-related genes in bulk LIHC data and construct a prognostic model for LIHC patients. Single-sample gene-set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA), Cell-type Identification By Estimating Relative Subsets Of RNA Transcripts (CIBERSORT) and Tumor Immune Estimation Resource (TIMER) analysis were employed for immune infiltration assessment. Finally, the potential immunotherapeutic response was predicted by the Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE), and the tumor mutation burden (TMB). Additionally, pRRophetic package was applied to evaluate the sensitivity of high and low-risk groups to common chemotherapeutic drugs.ResultsA total of four genes (including STIP1, H2AFZ, BRIX1, and TUBB) associated with stemness score (CytoTRACE score and mRNAsi) were identified and constructed a risk model that could predict prognosis in LIHC patients. It was observed that high stemness cells occurred predominantly in the late stages of LIHC and that poor overall survival in LIHC patients was also associated with high mRNAsi scores. In addition, pathway analysis confirmed the biological uniqueness of the two risk groups. Personalized treatment predictions suggest that patients with a low risk benefited more from immunotherapy, while those with a high risk group may be conducive to chemotherapeutic drugs.ConclusionThe current study developed a novel prognostic risk signature with genes related to CSCs, which provides novel ideas for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of LIHC.

BackgroundPhysical activity, a first-line approach for the treatment of non-gestational hypertension globally, has been shown to benefit most pregnant women in many respects. The benefits and risks of prenatal physical activity in complicated pregnancies, such as preeclampsia and chronic hypertension, require further investigation. It is worth conducting studies to address questions about physical activity during pregnancy in women with chronic hypertension, such as the benefits and risks, frequency, duration, and intensity. This prospective cohort study aims to investigate whether moderate-intensity daily physical activity reduces ambulatory blood pressure in pregnant women with chronic hypertension.MethodsPregnant women with chronic hypertension at 11+0 to 13+6 gestational weeks will be recruited from the outpatient clinic and divided into moderate- and light-intensity physical activity groups according to the intensity of the 7-day physical activity monitored using the model wGT3X-BT accelerometer. 24-h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring will be performed at enrollment as a baseline and will be repeated in the second and third trimesters. The primary outcome is the difference in the change in 24-h ambulatory systolic blood pressure from the first to the third trimester between the groups. Secondary outcomes include the difference of change in other ambulatory (24-h diastolic, daytime, and nighttime) and office blood pressure variables from the first to the second and third trimesters, the incidence of severe hypertension (≥160/110 mmHg), and changes in the type and dosage of antihypertensive medication. The primary and secondary outcomes related to changes in blood pressure from baseline to the second and third trimesters between the groups will be analyzed using Student's independent t-test or the Mann-Whitney U test.DiscussionThis cohort study will provide a basis for randomized controlled trials and verify an easily achieved, economical, and non-fetotoxic approach for adjuvant blood pressure management in pregnant women with chronic hypertension.RegistryThis study is registered with the Chinese Clinical Trials Registry (NO. The endangered tree species of the Aquilaria genus produce agarwood, a high value material produced only after wounding; however, conservation of Aquilaria seeds is difficult. The B3 transcription factor family has diverse important functions in plant development, especially in seed development, although their functions in other areas, such as stress responses, remain to be revealed. Here germination tests proved that the seeds of A. sinensis were recalcitrant seeds. To provide insights into the B3 superfamily, the members were identified and characterized by bioinformatic approaches and classified by phylogenetic analysis and domain structure. In total, 71 members were identified and classified into four subfamilies. Each subfamily not only had similar domains, but also had conserved motifs in their B3 domains. For the seed-related LAV subfamily, the B3 domain of AsLAV3 was identical to that of AsVALs but lacked a typical zf-CW domain such as VALs. AsLAV5 lacks a typical PHD-L domain present in Arabidopsis VALs. qRT-PCR expression analysis showed that the LEC2 ortholog AsLAV4 was not expressed in seeds. RAVs and REMs induced after wound treatment were also identified. These findings provide insights into the functions of B3 genes and seed recalcitrance of A. sinensis and indicate the role of B3 genes in wound response and agarwood formation.This is the first work to investigate the B3 family in A. sinensis and to provide insights of the molecular mechanism of seed recalcitrance.This will be a valuable guidance for studies of B3 genes in stress responses, secondary metabolite biosynthesis, and seed development.

ObjectiveTo evaluate the association between gestational weight gain (GWG) and adverse neonatal outcomes in women who conceived using assisted reproductive technology (ART).MethodsThe National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) 2019-2021 provided data for this retrospective cohort study. Adverse neonatal outcomes included premature birth, small for gestational age (SGA), large for gestational age (LGA), macrosomia, low birth weight (LBW), and other abnormal conditions. Any adverse outcome was defined as at least one of the above six outcomes. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was employed to evaluate the associations between GWG and different outcomes, after adjusting for confounding factors. These associations were further assessed in subgroups of maternal age at delivery, paternal age at delivery, preconception body mass index (BMI), gestational age, maternal race, parity, gestational diabetes, and gestational hypertension.ResultsTotally 108201 women were included, with 22282 in the insufficient GWG group, 38034 in the sufficient GWG group, and 47885 in the excessive GWG group. Women with insufficient GWG [odds ratios (OR) = 1.11, 95%CI: 1.07-1.16, PConclusionInsufficient GWG and excessive GWG were associated with increased risks of any adverse outcome than sufficient GWG in women who conceived with ART, indicating the applicability of recommended GWG by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) in this population.

BackgroundThe present study aimed to evaluate the synergistic impact of acute heart failure (AHF) and acute kidney injury (AKI) on in-hospital mortality in critically ill patients with sepsis.MethodsWe undertook a retrospective, observational analysis using data acquired from the Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care-IV (MIMIC-IV) database and eICU Collaborative Research Database (eICU-CRD). The effects of AKI and AHF on in-hospital mortality were examined using a Cox proportional hazards model. Additive interactions were analyzed using the relative extra risk attributable to interaction.ResultsA total of 33,184 patients were eventually included, comprising 20,626 patients in the training cohort collected from the MIMIC-IV database and 12,558 patients in the validation cohort extracted from the eICU-CRD database. After multivariate Cox analysis, the independent variables for in-hospital mortality included: AHF only (HR:1.20, 95% CI:1.02-1.41, P = 0.005), AKI only (HR:2.10, 95% CI:1.91-2.31, P < 0.001), and both AHF and AKI (HR:3.80, 95%CI:13.40-4.24, P < 0.001). The relative excess risk owing to interaction was 1.49 (95% CI:1.14-1.87), the attributable percentage due to interaction was 0.39 (95%CI:0.31-0.46), and the synergy index was 2.15 (95%CI:1.75-2.63), demonstrated AHF and AKI had a strong synergic impact on in-hospital mortality. And the findings in the validation cohort indicated identical conclusions to the training cohort.ConclusionOur data demonstrated a synergistic relationship of AHF and AKI on in-hospital mortality in critically unwell patients with sepsis.

Digital logistics techniques are important for business applications that contribute to economic growth. The modern supply chain or logistics seeks to implement a large-scale smart infrastructure incorporating data, physical objects, information, products, and business progressions. The business applications are utilized various intelligent techniques to maximize the logistic process. However, the logistic process suffers due to transportation costs, quality, and multinational transportation. These factors frequently affect the region's economic growth. In addition, most cities are located in remote areas that receive improper logistic support, which minimizes business growth. So, this work analyzes the impact of digital logistics on the region's economy. The Yangtze River economic belt region, which includes almost 11 cities, is chosen for analysis. The gathered information is processed by Dynamic Stochastic Equilibrium with Statistical Analysis Modelling (DSE-SAM), which predicts the correlation and influence of digital logistics on economic development. Here, the judgment matrix is constructed to reduce the difficulties of data standardization and normalization processes. Then entropy model and statistical correlation analysis are utilized to improve the overall impact analysis process. Finally, the developed DSE-SAM based created system efficiency is compared with the other economic models, such as Spatial Durbin Model (SDM), Coupling Coordination Degree Model (CCDM), and Collaborative Degree Model (CDM). The results of the suggested DSE-SAM model achieve a high correlation of urbanization, logistics, and ecology in the Yangtze River economic belt region compared to other regions.

The study on the spatial distribution and dynamic change in monthly Fractional Vegetation Cover (FVC) of parks provides a scientific basis for vegetation management and optimization in urban parks. This research focuses on two comprehensive parks located in Xinxiang, China—People's Park and Harmony Park, using multi-spectral Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) images as the data source and considering monthly periods. Monthly FVC data was obtained using the method of Dimidiate Pixel Model based on the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI). The dynamic changes of monthly FVC at regional scale were described through the dynamic changes in the monthly FVC mean and in the FVC areas at various scales, and the dynamic changes in the monthly FVC were analyzed using the coefficient of variation and curve change trends. Furthermore, the dynamic changes in FVC areas at various scales in the parks were analyzed using standard deviation and curve change trends. Subsequently, the differential method was used to analyze the monthly FVC dynamic changes at pixel scale. The results indicate: (1) In terms of the spatial distribution characteristics in monthly FVC of urban parks, both parks exhibit the highest ratio of bare area in January and February. The proportions of FVC for People's Park are 59.17% and 64.46%, while for Harmony Park they are 69.10% and 51.92%, showing the most distinct spatial distribution characteristics. The high and very high coverage areas in each month are mainly distributed on the outskirts of the park, while the medium, medium-low, and low coverage areas are mainly located in the central and middle parts of the park. The overall FVC of the park shows a trend of high coverage on the periphery and low coverage in the center. (2) In the spatial-temporal dynamic change in FVC at regional scale, the average monthly FVC changes exhibit an overall "∩" -shaped pattern. The peak and minimum FVC values for different parks occur at different times. The peak FVC for People's Park appears in August, while for Harmony Park it appears in June, with corresponding FVC values of 0.46 and 0.50, respectively. The minimum FVC for People's Park occurs in February, and for Harmony Park it occurs in January, with FVC values of 0.17 and 0.15, respectively. Among the dynamic change in FVC areas at various scales, the areas of bare and highest-coverage exhibit the greatest fluctuations, with the ascending and descending changes and rates of bare and highest-coverage areas generally showing opposite trends. (3) In terms of the spatial-temporal dynamic changes in FVC at pixel scale in urban parks, overall, FVC shows moderate improvement from February-August, and moderate degradation from January-February and from August-December. The degradation and improvement are primarily slight. The most significant improvement in monthly FVC occurs in March-April, with a predominant type of significant improvement in FVC changes. People's Park and Harmony Park show the most significant degradation in FVC during September-October and October-November, respectively, with a predominant type of significant degradation in FVC changes. During the periods of most significant improvement and degradation in monthly FVC, the spatial distribution of significant improvement and degradation areas primarily occurs in the periphery and middle parts of the parks. FVC in urban parks decreases from January to February and from August to December, while it increases from February to August, with relatively good conditions from June to August. Vegetation optimization should consider: balancing recreational and ecological functions overall, controlling the proportion of bare land, and enhancing the canopy structure of vegetation in low coverage areas or the coverage of hard surfaces; locally increasing the proportion of evergreen plants and moderately increasing planting density. Lithium has broad applications in several emerging industries and fields, including high energy batteries, energy storage, aerospace, and controlled nuclear reactions. Currently, the discrepancy between the supply and demand for lithium resources increases, and its distribution is uneven. Within the framework of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, the lithium trade pattern evolves constantly. However, the trade pattern of lithium in the nations along the "Belt and Road" is likely to face substantial repercussions in modern world of unilateral protectionism and geopolitical conflicts. Taking the social network analysis approach as a tool, this study first examines the characteristics of the lithium trade network structure as it has evolved over the years in the Belt and Road countries, from 2000 to 2022. Additionally, this study uses the quadratic assignment problem approach to analyze the factors influencing the evolution of the lithium trade network. The study shows that: (1) The spatial patterns of import and export trade network of lithium in countries along the route has a certain path dependence. And the market is mainly concentrated in East Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, South America and Southeast Asia. (2) The network density of the countries along the route has increased year after year, but it remains low. And the fluctuation of the network's reciprocity has increased, with a huge magnitude of variation. The number of core countries in the network has decreased over time, but the core-periphery structure has stayed largely steady. China, Chile, and South Korea are the network's main node countries. (3) Regarding the influencing factors, the differences in economic and technological development between these countries have a beneficial impact on the formation of lithium trade; whether or not regional trade agreements have been signed, the differences about average tax rates for mineral products, bordering countries, and similar languages and cultures are all conducive to the establishment of close trade links. The contribution of this essay is of paramount importance for understanding different countries' role along the Belt and Road in the lithium trade network pattern, and promoting regional trade cooperation. Moreover, the outcomes of the study reveal that both positive shock in gross domestic product growth and negative shock of economic growth have a significant and positive link with environment pollution in G-7 countries. According to the findings, by lowering carbon dioxide emissions, green investments reduced environmental pollution in the G-7 nations over the long and short term. Moreover, it is an innovative research effort that provides light on the connection between green investments, financial development, and the environment while making mention to the EKC in G-7 countries. After all these, our recommendation is to increases green investment expenditures to reduce environmental pollution in the G-7 nations based on our findings. Background: Liver hepatocellular carcinoma (LIHC) is a prevalent form of primary liver cancer. Research has demonstrated the contribution of tumor stem cells in facilitating tumor recurrence, metastasis, and treatment resistance. Despite this, there remains a lack of established cancer stem cells (CSCs)-associated genes signatures for effectively predicting the prognosis and guiding the treatment strategies for patients diagnosed with LIHC. Methods: The single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and bulk RNA transcriptome data were obtained based on public datasets and computerized firstly using CytoTRACE package and One Class Linear Regression (OCLR) algorithm to evaluate stemness level, respectively. Then, we explored the association of stemness indicators (CytoTRACE score and stemness index, mRNAsi) with survival outcomes and clinical characteristics by combining clinical information and survival analyses. Subsequently, weighted co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and Cox were applied to assess mRNAsi-related genes in bulk LIHC data and construct a prognostic model for LIHC patients. Single-sample gene-set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA), Cell-type Identification By Estimating Relative Subsets Of RNA Transcripts (CIBERSORT) and Tumor Immune Estimation Resource (TIMER) analysis were employed for immune infiltration assessment. Finally, the potential immunotherapeutic response was predicted by the Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE), and the tumor mutation burden (TMB). Additionally, pRRophetic package was applied to evaluate the sensitivity of high and low-risk groups to common chemotherapeutic drugs. Results: A total of four genes (including STIP1, H2AFZ, BRIX1, and TUBB) associated with stemness score (CytoTRACE score and mRNAsi) were identified and constructed a risk model that could predict prognosis in LIHC patients. It was observed that high stemness cells occurred predominantly in the late stages of LIHC and that poor overall survival in LIHC patients was also associated with high mRNAsi scores. In addition, pathway analysis confirmed the biological uniqueness of the two risk groups. Personalized treatment predictions suggest that patients with a low risk benefited more from immunotherapy, while those with a high risk group may be conducive to chemotherapeutic drugs. Conclusion: The current study developed a novel prognostic risk signature with genes related to CSCs, which provides novel ideas for the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of LIHC. University graduates can inject strong impetus into the development of cities. However, China's "Strengthening the Provincial Capital" strategy attracts many college graduates, resulting in many limitations in attracting college students to employment in non-provincial capital cities. This paper systematically studies college students' work and entrepreneurial intention factors. We conduct a social survey of employment and entrepreneurial intentions among university graduates in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, and obtain 12,897 questionnaires. Then, we construct an index analysis system (IAS) and analyze the 12897 questionnaires systematically based on IAS. The results show that urban characteristics and personal orientation most directly affect college graduates' employment and entrepreneurial willingness. Based on the statistical conclusions, we put forward corresponding policy recommendations. Colleges should build a "government-enterprise-school" cooperation mechanism, implement strategically focused attraction policies following local conditions and local conditions, and promote the employment of college students to promote employment and entrepreneurship in non-provincial capitals.

In the latest version of ISO 4037-1:2019 standard, the minimum dimension of a gamma radiation reference field was not clearly specified, which makes the construction of a minitype gamma reference radiation field lack of scientific basis. This paper carried out the research on the relationship between the scattering contribution and physical factors of the reference radiation regulated by ISO 4037-1. LS-SVM was applied to construct the relational model between physical factors and scattering contribution based on the data simulated by Monte Carlo method. Then the minimum dimension of collimated reference radiation field is obtained by PSO algorithm. For Co-60 source, the minimum size of the radiation field obtained is 93 cm(L)×40 cm(W)×40 cm(H). For Cs-137 source, the minimum size of the radiation field obtained is 153 cm(L)×47 cm (W)×47 cm(H). The results meet the requirements of the standard based on the model and provides a technical reference for the design of a minitype reference radiation field.

Background Methylxanthine, including caffeine citrate and aminophylline, is the most common pharmacologic treatment for apnea of prematurity. However, due to the lack of high-quality evidence, there are no clear recommendations or guidelines on how to choose between caffeine and aminophylline. Objective This meta-analysis aimed to assess the comparative efficacy and safety of caffeine and aminophylline for apnea of prematurity, and provide reliable evidence for clinical medication in the treatment for apnea of prematurity. Methods PubMed, Scopus, Embase, EBSCO, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases were systematically searched from May 1975 to June 2022. Results Ten studies including a total of 923 preterm infants were evaluated. Our results showed that there was no significant difference in the effective rate of 1-3days between caffeine and aminophylline (OR 1.05, 95%CI: 0.40–2.74, P = 0.914). However, for side effects such as tachycardia (OR 0.22, 95%CI: 0.13–0.37, PConclusion This meta-analysis reveals that caffeine citrate and aminophylline have similar therapeutic effectiveness on respiratory function, but caffeine has fewer side effects and should be considered first for treatment.

Tea plant (Camellia sinensis) is one of the most important horticultural cash crops, and tea green leafhopper (Matsumurasca onukii) is an extremely harmful sap-sucking pest of tea plant. Serious generation overlapping, which is mainly caused by the long oviposition period, leads to poor control effect of pesticides on this pest in the tea plantation. But the intuitive evidences of continuous oogenesis and egg-laying of this pest are still lacking, which seriously hindered the development of genetic control methods. Here, we clarified the main structures of the inner reproductive system of tea green leafhopper female adult. Oviposition behaviors were monitored as well, and six oviposition steps were recorded. According to the maturity of oocytes, the maturity stages of the reproductive system under different copulation periods were classified into 4 stages. For female adults at stage IV, mature and immature oocytes were presented simultaneously, and the developmental levels of oocytes were asynchronous among different ovarioles. The proportion of gravid females with mature oocytes significantly increased when the continuous copulation time was prolonged. In sync with the development of the ovary maturity, female adults started to slightly deposit eggs at the 5th day, and then increased dramatically. In addition, we found that, whether mature or immature, oocytes in the ovarioles always emitted green fluorescence under blue light excitation, which in turn provide solid proof for the new egg detection method from the insect physiology point of view.

Both hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) are produced endogenously from the mammalian metabolic pathway of sulfur-containing amino acids and play important roles in several vascular diseases. However, their interaction during the control of vascular function has not been fully clear. Here, we investigated the potential role of H2S in SO2 production and vascular regulation in vivo and in vitro. Wistar rats were divided into the vehicle, SO2, DL-propargylglycine (PPG) + SO2, β-cyano-L-alanine (BCA) + SO2 and sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) + SO2 groups. SO2 donor was administered with or without pre-administration of PPG, BCA or NaHS for 30 min after blood pressure was stabilized for 1 h, and then, the change in blood pressure was detected by catheterization via the common carotid artery. Rat plasma SO2 and H2S concentrations were measured by high performance liquid chromatography and sensitive sulfur electrode, respectively. The isolated aortic rings were prepared for the measurement of changes in vasorelaxation stimulated by SO2 after PPG, BCA or NaHS pre-incubation. Results showed that the intravenous injection of SO2 donors caused transient hypotension in rats compared with vehicle group. After PPG or BCA pretreatment, the plasma H2S content decreased but the SO2 content increased markedly, and the hypotensive effect of SO2 was significantly enhanced. Conversely, NaHS pretreatment upregulated the plasma H2S content but reduced SO2 content, and attenuated the hypotensive effect of SO2. After PPG or BCA pre-incubation, the vasorelaxation response to SO2 was enhanced significantly. While NaHS pre-administration weakened the SO2-induced relaxation in aortic rings. In conclusion, our in vivo and in vitro data indicate that H2S negatively controls the plasma content of SO2 and the vasorelaxant effect under physiological conditions.

Background and purposeTo date, sepsis remains the main cause of mortality in intensive care units (ICU). This study aimed analyze the risk factors of the prognosis in sepsis patients.MethodsIn this case-control study, patients with sepsis admitted to the intensive care unit of a Chinese hospital between January and November 2020 were analyzed. Ultrasound and clinical data were analyzed and compared between non-survivors and survivors. The ROC curve analysis was also performed to determine the best indicator for predicting mortality.ResultsA total of 72 patients with sepsis in ICU were included for analysis. The basic characteristics between the survivals and non-survivals were similar, except for acute physiology and chronic health evaluation (APACHE) Ⅱ score, sepsis-related organ failure assessment (SOFA) score, lactate level, ultrasound parameters from superior mesenteric artery (SMA) such as peak systolic velocity (PSV), end-diastolic velocity (EDV) and resistive index (RI). Univariate analysis revealed that the APACHE Ⅱ score, SOFA score, lactate, low PSV, EDV, and RI were potential risk factors for mortality in sepsis, while multivariate analysis suggested that low PSV was an independent risk factor for mortality, and the adjusted odds ratio was 0.295 (95% CI: 0.094-0.925). The ROC analysis showed that the PSV (AUC = 0.99; sensitivity and specificity were 0.99 and 0.96, respectively) had good predictive value for mortality in sepsis.ConclusionLow PSV as found to be an independent risk factor and good predictor for mortality in patients with sepsis. This study shows the promise of ultrasound in predicting mortality in patients with sepsis; however, further studies are needed to validate these results.

BackgroundHelicobacter pylori (H. pylori) encodes numerous outer membrane proteins (OMPs), with considerable geographic heterogeneity and related to different clinical outcomes. This study aimed to investigate the distribution characteristics of five important OMP genes (sabA, hofC, homA, homB and frpB-4) in different regions of China.Materials and methodA total of 266 strains were isolated from 348 stomach biopsy specimens in Shandong, Guangxi, Heilongjiang, Hunan, and Qinghai provinces. The presence of sabA, hofC, homA, homB and frpB-4 gene was detected by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) from H. pylori genomic DNA.ResultsAmong the strains in five regions, the prevalence of frpB-4 was 100% and that of hofC was 97.7%. The prevalence of homB in the isolates from Qinghai (45.5%) was significantly lower than that in Shandong (75.3%), Guangxi (76.9%) and Hunan (69.6%) (PConclusionThe prevalence of homA, homB, and sabA genes and the sabA "on" or "off" status have significant geographical differences among five provinces in China. The presence of homA and sabA genes may be protective factors of gastritis.

PurposeTo examine the mechanism by which a novel connexin 50 (Cx50) mutation, Cx50 V44A, in a Chinese family causes suture-sparing autosomal dominant congenital nuclear cataracts.MethodsFamily history and clinical data were recorded and direct gene sequencing was used to identify the disease-causing mutation. The Cx50 gene was cloned from a human lens cDNA library. Connexin protein distributions were assessed by fluorescence microscopy. Hemichannel functions were analyzed by dye uptake assay. Formation of functional channels was assessed by dye transfer experiments.ResultsDirect sequencing of the candidate GJA8 gene revealed a novel c.131T>C transition in exon 2, which cosegregated with the disease in the family and resulted in the substitution of a valine residue with alanine at codon 44 (p. V44A) in the extracellular loop 1 of the Cx50 protein. Both Cx50 and Cx50V44A formed functional gap junctions, as shown by the neurobiotin transfer assay. However, unlike wild-type Cx50, Cx50V44A was unable to form open hemichannels in dye uptake experiments.ConclusionThis work identified a unique congenital cataract in the Chinese population, caused by the novel mutation Cx50V44A, and it showed that the V44A mutation specifically impairs the gating of the hemichannels but not the gap junction channels. The dysfunctional hemichannels resulted in the development of human congenital cataracts.

Inactivating mutations in either TSC1 or TSC2 cause Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, an autosomal dominant disorder, characterized by multi-system tumor and hamartoma development. Mutation and loss of function of TSC1 and/or TSC2 also occur in a variety of sporadic cancers, and rapamycin and related drugs show highly variable treatment benefit in patients with such cancers. The TSC1 and TSC2 proteins function in a complex that inhibits mTORC1, a key regulator of cell growth, which acts to enhance anabolic biosynthetic pathways. In this study, we identified and validated five cancer cell lines with TSC1 or TSC2 mutations and performed a kinase inhibitor drug screen with 197 compounds. The five cell lines were sensitive to several mTOR inhibitors, and cell cycle kinase and HSP90 kinase inhibitors. The IC50 for Torin1 and INK128, both mTOR kinase inhibitors, was significantly increased in three TSC2 null cell lines in which TSC2 expression was restored. Rapamycin was significantly more effective than either INK128 or ganetespib (an HSP90 inhibitor) in reducing the growth of TSC2 null SNU-398 cells in a xenograft model. Combination ganetespib-rapamycin showed no significant enhancement of growth suppression over rapamycin. Hence, although HSP90 inhibitors show strong inhibition of TSC1/TSC2 null cell line growth in vitro, ganetespib showed little benefit at standard dosage in vivo. In contrast, rapamycin which showed very modest growth inhibition in vitro was the best agent for in vivo treatment, but did not cause tumor regression, only growth delay.

Guiding institutional investors to actively participate in corporate governance is a hot issue to improve the internal governance of China's listed companies. This study seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of the mechanism that underlies the governance effects of the heterogeneity of institutional investors on the cost of capital, and the influence of ownership structure on the relationship between them. Using an unbalanced panel data on A-share listed companies of Shanghai and Shenzhen in China's capital market during the 2014-2019 period, this study reveals how institutional investors with longer holding period and higher shareholding ratio are negatively associated with the cost of capital in China's capital market. Furthermore, this study successfully confirms the moderating effect of ownership structure in the relationship between institutional investors and the cost of capital. China's state-owned enterprises are more likely to introduce improvements at the corporate governance level, and ownership concentration weakens the negative influence of institutional investors on the cost of capital. The research contributes to a deeper understanding of the impacts of institutional investor's heterogeneity and ownership structure on the cost of capital in China. In the process, the study yields useful implications for the theory and practice of corporate governance.

Micro-CT technique poses significant applications in characterizing the microstructure of materials. Based on the CT three-dimensional(3D) reconstruction technology and "Avizo" 3D visualization software, the microscopic pore-throat structure of porous media can be quantitatively characterized. This paper takes the carbon fiber reinforced resin matrix composites as an example to introduce the operation process of "Avizo" in details, which mainly covers the following modules: Volume Edit, Interactive Thresholding, Fill Holes, Mask, Separate Objects and Generate Pore Network Model, then further discuss the difficult problems when the "Avizo" is employed to analyze. The microstructures of carbon fiber reinforced resin matrix composites illustrate that pores in the upper part of sample are dramatically dispersed, and mainly concentrated in the lower part of sample. The porosity of adopted cuboid is 3.6%, accordingly the numbers of pores and throats reach 268 and 7, respectively. The equivalent radius of pores seems mainly distributed in the range of 0.7-0.8μm, accounting for 28.73% of the total pore number. The surface area of pore ranges from 5 to 10μm2, accounting for 14.16% of the total pore number. The pore volume concentrates in the range of 1-20μm3, accounting for 57.46% of the total pore number. In addition, the equivalent radius of throat mainly concentrates in the range of 1-5μm, the overall length of throat is distributed in the range of 37-60μm, and the equivalent area of throat is distributed non-uniformly in the range of 5-75μm2. This work provides a basis for the further investigation of fluid migration mechanism and law in the composite materials by the numerical simulation methodology.

Kentucky bluegrass (Poa pratensis L.) is an excellent cool-season turfgrass utilized widely in Northern China. However, turf quality of Kentucky bluegrass declines significantly due to drought. Ethephon seeds-soaking treatment has been proved to effectively improve the drought tolerance of Kentucky bluegrass seedlings. In order to investigate the effect of ethephon leaf-spraying method on drought tolerance of Kentucky bluegrass and understand the underlying mechanism, Kentucky bluegrass plants sprayed with and without ethephon are subjected to either drought or well watered treatments. The relative water content and malondialdehyde conent were measured. Meanwhile, samples were sequenced through Illumina. Results showed that ethephon could improve the drought tolerance of Kentucky bluegrass by elevating relative water content and decreasing malondialdehyde content under drought. Transcriptome analysis showed that 58.43% transcripts (254,331 out of 435,250) were detected as unigenes. A total of 9.69% (24,643 out of 254,331) unigenes were identified as differentially expressed genes in one or more of the pairwise comparisons. Differentially expressed genes due to drought stress with or without ethephon pre-treatment showed that ethephon application affected genes associated with plant hormone, signal transduction pathway and plant defense, protein degradation and stabilization, transportation and osmosis, antioxidant system and the glyoxalase pathway, cell wall and cuticular wax, fatty acid unsaturation and photosynthesis. This study provides a theoretical basis for revealing the mechanism for how ethephon regulates drought response and improves drought tolerance of Kentucky bluegrass.

Meta-analyses of European populations has successfully identified genetic variants in over 100 loci associated with lipid levels, but our knowledge in other ethnicities remains limited. To address this, we performed dense genotyping of ∼2,000 candidate genes in 7,657 African Americans, 1,315 Hispanics and 841 East Asians, using the IBC array, a custom ∼50,000 SNP genotyping array. Meta-analyses confirmed 16 lipid loci previously established in European populations at genome-wide significance level, and found multiple independent association signals within these lipid loci. Initial discovery and in silico follow-up in 7,000 additional African American samples, confirmed two novel loci: rs5030359 within ICAM1 is associated with total cholesterol (TC) and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) (p = 8.8×10(-7) and p = 1.5×10(-6) respectively) and a nonsense mutation rs3211938 within CD36 is associated with high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels (p = 13.5×10(-12)). The rs3211938-G allele, which is nearly absent in European and Asian populations, has been previously found to be associated with CD36 deficiency and shows a signature of selection in Africans and African Americans. Finally, we have evaluated the effect of SNPs established in European populations on lipid levels in multi-ethnic populations and show that most known lipid association signals span across ethnicities. However, differences between populations, especially differences in allele frequency, can be leveraged to identify novel signals, as shown by the discovery of ICAM1 and CD36 in the current report.

Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) is a devastating intestinal emergency that affects ten percent of very low birth weight premature babies and costs society in both expense and heartache. It is probably caused by an inappropriate interaction of colonizing bacteria with an immature intestine. A possible preventative measure is to feed prematures their mother's expressed breast milk in conjunction with a probiotic. This synbiotic prevention reduces the severity and incidence of this condition. This study was designed to determine the mechanism of the synbiotic effect in human and mouse fetal intestine. Breast milk interacting with a NEC preventative probiotic such as Bifidobacterium infantis can produce increased levels of short chain fatty acids (acetate, propionate and butyrate) (SCFAs). SCFAs are known to be anti-inflammatory in mature enterocytes and immunocytes. Very little is known about their role in immature intestine. When exposed to a human fetal cell line, fetal intestinal organoids and fetal mouse intestine, these SCFAs were anti-inflammatory. Their mechanism of anti-inflammation differed from those reported for mature cells by involving the G-protein coupled receptor (GPR 109A) and inhibiting histone deacetylase 4 and 5. These bacterial metabolites may help explain the synbiotic anti-inflammatory effect of breast milk and probiotics given to premature infants at risk for NEC.

Leber congenital amaurosis (LCA) is a group of severe congenital retinal diseases. Variants in the guanylate cyclase 2D gene (GUCY2D), which encodes guanylate cyclase 1 (ROS-GC1), are associated with LCA1 and account for 6%-21% of all LCA cases. In this study, one family with LCA1 was recruited from China. A combination of next generation sequencing and Sanger sequencing was used to screen for disease-causing mutations. We found three novel mutations (c.139delC, p.Ala49Profs*36; c.835G>A, p.Asp279Asn and c.2783G>A, p.Gly928Glu) in the GUCY2D gene. Proband III-2 carries mutations c.139delC and c.2783G>A, which are inherited from the heterozygous mutation carriers, II-2 (c.139delC) and II-3 (c.2783G>A) that possess c.139delC and c.2783G>A. Additionally, II-8 carries heterozygous mutation c.835G>A. Sanger sequencing was used to confirm the presence of the three novel mutations in other family members. Mutation c.139delC results in a truncated protein. Mutations c.835G>A and c.2783G>A significantly reduce the catalytic activity of ROS-GC1. Our findings highlight the gene variants range of LCA. Moreover, HPLC-coupled tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) was used to analyze the concentration of 3',5'-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), suggesting that HPLC-MS/MS is an effective alternative method to evaluate the catalytic activity of wild-type and mutant ROS-GC1.

Aiming at the problem of fast certification for a constrained iris in the same category caused by the unstable iris features caused by the change of the iris acquisition environment and shooting status under lightweight training samples, a one-to-one fast certification algorithm for constrained unsteady-state iris based on the scale change stable feature and multi-algorithm voting is proposed. Scale change stable features are found by constructing an isometric differential Gaussian space, and a local binary pattern algorithm with extended statistics (ES-LBP), the Haar wavelet with over threshold detection and the Gabor filter algorithm with immune particle swarm optimization (IPSO) are used to represent the stable features as binary feature codes. Iris certification is performed by the Hamming distance. According to the certification results of three algorithms, the final result is obtained by multi-algorithm voting. Experiments with the JLU and CASIA iris libraries under the iris prerequisite conditions show that the correct recognition rate of this algorithm can reach a high level of 98% or more, indicating that this algorithm can improve the operation speed, accuracy and robustness of certification.

The liquid foodstuffs such as edible oil products remain a problem of excessive aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) content. This paper focused on the preparation of magnetic mesoporous silica (MMS) from rice husk ash for the removal of AFB1 in oil system. The MMS preparation process, adsorption conditions, structural characteristics, and adsorption mechanism were investigated. The optimum conditions for MMS preparation were pH 11.0 and 80°C for 24 h. The characterization results showed that magnetic particles were successfully embedded in the MMS and had high responsiveness to a magnetic field, which was advantageous for recyclability. The MMS had ordered uniform channels with a specific surface area of 730.98 m2/g and pore diameter of 2.43 nm. The optimum adsorption conditions were 2 h at 20°C. For AFB1 with an initial concentration of 0.2 μg/mL, the MMS adsorption capacity was 171.98 μg/g and the adsorption rate was 94.59%. The MMS adsorption isotherm fitted the Langmuir model well under the assumption of monolayer AFB1 adsorption with uniformly distributed adsorption sites on the MMS surface. The maximum amount of AFB1 adsorbed according to the Langmuir isotherm was 1118.69 μg/g. A quasi-second-order kinetic model gave a better fit to the process of AFB1 adsorption on MMS. The values of ΔH (-19.17 kJ/mol) and ΔG (-34.09, -34.61, and -35.15 kJ/mol at 283, 293, and 303 K, respectively) were negative, indicating that AFB1 adsorption on MMS was a spontaneous exothermic process. The results indicated that MMS was a promising material for AFB1 removal in oil system, and this study will serve as a guide for practical MMS applications.

AimTo investigate markers of systemic inflammation in pre- and postmenopausal women and identify possible predictors of systemic inflammation with menopause.MethodsCross-sectional study of 69 healthy women between 45- and 60 years. Blood samples were collected to assess leukocyte subsets and plasma cytokines. MRI and DXA scans were performed to assess body composition. Through uni- and multivariate analyses, follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), visceral fat mass and age were evaluated as predictors of systemic inflammation in relation to menopause.ResultsPostmenopausal women tended to have higher leukocyte counts (5.4 x109 vs. 4.9 x109 cells/l, p = 0.05) reflected in increased total lymphocytes (1.8 x109 vs. 1.6 x109 cells/l, p = 0.01) and monocytes (0.5 x109 vs. 0.4 x109 cells/l, p = 0.02), compared to premenopausal women. Increased visceral fat mass was a strong predictor of high leukocyte subsets. Postmenopausal women had higher plasma TNF-α (2.24 vs. 1.91 pg/ml, p = 0.01) and IL-6 (0.45 vs. 0.33 pg/ml, p = 0.004) compared to premenopausal women and high FSH was a significant predictor of increased plasma TNF-α, IL-1β and IL-6. Menopause was further associated with increased T-cells (1,336 vs. 1,128 cells/μl, p = 0.04) reflected in significantly higher counts of exhausted-, senescent-, and memory CD4+ T-cell subsets.ConclusionsMenopause is associated with increased systemic inflammation as well as exhausted- and senescent T-cells. We suggest, that both increased visceral fat mass and declining sex hormone levels might contribute to postmenopausal systemic inflammation and calls for further large-scale studies to confirm these findings.

NOD-like receptors (NLRs) are a group of cytoplasmic molecules that recognize microbial invasion or 'danger signals'. Activation of NLRs can induce rapid caspase-1 dependent cell death termed pyroptosis, or a caspase-1 independent cell death termed pyronecrosis. Bacillus anthracis lethal toxin (LT), is recognized by a subset of alleles of the NLR protein Nlrp1b, resulting in pyroptotic cell death of macrophages and dendritic cells. Here we show that LT induces lysosomal membrane permeabilization (LMP). The presentation of LMP requires expression of an LT-responsive allele of Nlrp1b, and is blocked by proteasome inhibitors and heat shock, both of which prevent LT-mediated pyroptosis. Further the lysosomal protease cathepsin B is released into the cell cytosol and cathepsin inhibitors block LT-mediated cell death. These data reveal a role for lysosomal membrane permeabilization in the cellular response to bacterial pathogens and demonstrate a shared requirement for cytosolic relocalization of cathepsins in pyroptosis and pyronecrosis.
