A series of triorganotin and triorganogermanium(IV) complexes with 1H-5-mercapto-1,2,3-triazolato, of the type R3MSC2H2N3 (M=Sn, R=CH3, (1); C2H5, (2); n-C4H9, (3); C6H5, (4); M=Ge, R=CH3, (5); C2H5, (6); n-C4H9, (7); C6H5, (8)), have been synthesized. All the complexes 1–8 have been characterized by elemental, IR and 1H NMR analyses. Among them complexes 4 and 8 have also been characterized by X-ray crystallography diffraction analyses, which revealed that the Sn and Ge atom environments are distorted tetrahedral coordination polyhedrons, coordinated to three phenyl groups and to one sulfur atom of the ligand. The packing of complexes 4 and 8 is stabilized into a one-dimensional infinite chain by intermolecular N–H⋯N hydrogen bonds. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

A series of organotin(IV) complexes with 1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-1H-tetrazole-5-thiol of the type, RnSn[S(C7H5N4O)]4 - n · L (n=3, L=0: R=Me (1), n-Bu (2), Ph (3); n=3, L=0.5C2H5OH · 0.5H2O, R=PhCH2 (4); n=2, L=H2O, R=Me (5); n=2, L=0: R=n-Bu (6), Ph (7), PhCH2 (8)) have been synthesized. All the complexes 1–8 have been characterized by elemental, IR and 1H NMR analyses. Among them complexes 3, 4, 5 and 6 have also been characterized by X-ray crystallography diffraction analyses, which revealed the 1D ribbons of complexes 3 and 5 and the 2D network of complex 6 due to the versatile intermolecular hydrogen bonds O–H⋯X (X=O, N, S) in the crystallographic structures. Six diorganotin(IV) compounds with dicyanoethylene-1,2-dithiolate (mnt) of the type [R2Sn(mnt)ClnL] · Y (when n=0, L=0: R=CH3, Y=0, 1; R=n-Bu, Y=0, 2; R=C6H6, Y=0.5C6H6, 3; R=CH3, Y=1.5(4,4′-Bipy), 4; when n=1, L=0, R=CH3, Y=4,4′-Bipy, 5; when n=0, L=Phen, R=CH3, Y=0, 6; 4,4′-Bipy=4,4′-bipyridyl; Phen=1,10-phenanthroline) are synthesized by the reaction of diorganotin dichloride and disodium maleonitriledithiolate (Na2mnt) in the presence of 4,4′-Bipy or Phen. All the compounds 1–6 are characterized by elemental, IR, 1H NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography analyses. The X-ray data showed the geometries of all the tin atoms in compounds 1–4 are tetrahedral, and those in 5 and 6 are trigonal bipyramidal and distorted octahedral, respectively. Co-crystallization is found in crystals of compounds 3 and 4. The co-crystallized solvents are benzene and 4,4′-Bipy, respectively. Compound 5 is a stannate with a five-coordinated tin(IV) atom. Compound 6 is a six-coordinated dimethyltin(IV) derivative from mixed ligands of mnt and Phen. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

A series of organotin(IV) complexes with 2-mercapto-6-nitrobenzothiazole (HMNBT) of the type, [RnSn(MNBT)4 − n] (n=2, R=Me, 4; n=3, R=Me, 5; n-Bu, 6; Ph, 7; PhCH2, 8) were synthesized. All the complexes 4–8 have been characterized by elemental, IR and 1H NMR analyses. Among them, complexes 4, 7 and 8 were also characterized by X-ray crystallography diffraction analyses, which revealed that the structures of both complexes 7 and 8 are penta-coordinated with R3Sn coordinated to the thiol S and heterocyclic N atoms, and the structural distortion for each is a displacement from tetragonal towards trigonal bipyramidal geometry. For complex 4, the geometry of the center tin atom is a distorted trapezoidal bipyramid. Besides, intermolecular S⋯S and Sn⋯S non-bonded interactions were recognized in crystal structures of complexes 4 and 7, respectively. The IR and 1H NMR spectral data indicate such an inclination that those structures of trialkyltin derivatives are apt to be penta-coordinated and those dialkyltin derivatives are likely in six-coordination. A series of organogermanium(IV) complexes with 2,5-dimercapto-4-phenyl-1,3,4-thiodiazole of the type, RnGe[S(C8H5N2S2)]4−n (n=3, R=CH3, 1; C2H5, 2; C4H9, 3; C6H5, 4; n=2, R=CH3, 5; C2H5, 6; C4H9, 7; C6H5, 8) have been synthesized. All the complexes 1–8 have been characterized by elemental, IR and 1H NMR analyses. Among them complexes 4 and 8 have also been characterized by X-ray crystallography diffraction analyses, which revealed that the structure of complex 4 is a tetrahedron while the germanium environment of complex 8 is a distorted octahedron. Furthermore, an intermolecular non-bonded sulfur–sulfur interaction was recognized in complex 8. The IR and 1H NMR spectral data indicate such an inclination that those structures of trialkylgermanium derivatives are apt to be four-coordinated and those of dialkylgermanium derivatives are likely to be six-coordinated.
