Abstract

The porous networks of [Cu2(malonato)2(bipy)(H2O)2]·H2O (I) and [Cd(malonato)(py)(H2O)] (II) were co-assembled by rigid 4,4′-bipyridine or pyridine and the flexible malonate ion. In the network of compound I, 4,4′-bipy acts as a bone, separating and supporting the flexible malonate–Cu units to form a nearly strain-free square framework and a chiral square cavity in the solid state. In compound II, the rigid pyridine rings sustain the network by saturating the coordination sphere of Cd(II) ion to avoid a high coordination number and self-inclusion, and to prevent the two-dimensional network from forming a non-porous phase.

The cryptate complex [Gd(L)(DMF)]. KSCN . CH3CN . 3H(2)O has been synthesized by the reaction of gadolinium isothiocyanate and potassium thiocyanate with cryptate [Na(H(2)L)], which was prepared by a (2+3) Schiff-base condensation of tris(2-aminoethyl)amine and 2,6-diformyl-4-methoxyphenol in the presence of NaOH. Abstract

Abstract: Two novel heptanuclear trigonal prismatic LnNi6 clusters, [SmNi6(Gly)6(Ac)(μ3-OH)3(μ2-H2O)2(im)6]·(ClO4)5 ·(H2O)5 (1) and [GdNi6(Gly)6Cl3(OH)3(py)6]·Cl·(ClO4)2 ·(H2O)5 (2), were synthesized through self-assembly, and were characterized by X-ray structure analyses. Complex 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic Cc space group (a =17.9722(3) Å, b =16.3906(2) Å, c =25.3463(3) Å, β =99.832(1)° and Z =4). Complex 2 attributes to the monoclinic P2(1)/c space group (a =15.5408(2) Å, b =20.0516(4) Å, c =23.8204(4) Å, β =100.096(1)° and Z =4). 1 has six terminal imidazole ligands, while 2 has six terminal pyridine ligands. The two complexes both have a [LnNi6(Gly)6(μ3-OH)3]6+ core. The magnetic measurements reveal that 1 exhibits an overall antiferromagnetic interaction, while 2 exhibits a ferromagnetic interaction. Abstract

Abstract: Three new M/Ag/S heterobimetallic compounds [Et4N]2[(MS4)Ag8(SBu t )8] (1a, M=W; 1b, M=Mo) and {[Et4N][WOS3Ag2(S2COEt)]} n (2) have been prepared from the reactions of [MO n S4−n ]2− (M=W, Mo; n =0–1) with AgSBu t or AgS2COEt. Single crystal structural studies show that the compound 1a contains a [WS4]2− dianion encapsulated in a neutral octanuclear (AgSBu t )8 cage via weak Ag⋯S(WS4) interactions. In compound 2, butterfly WOS3Ag2 fragments are connected via bidentate bridging [S2COEt]− ligands to give a chain polymeric anion. These compounds are fully characterized by IR, UV–vis and microanalyses. Compound 2 is the first W/Ag/S polymer with bidentate thiolato linkages. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract

We report the synthesis, single-crystal X-ray structure, IR, TGA–DTA and fluorescence of a black MOF crystal {(Mo4O12)(4,4′-bipy)2}n, which has two channels. One channel along the [001] direction was formed by a metal&z.sbnd;oxygen octatomic ring and the another one along the [010] direction was shaped by 4′4-bipy. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
