Information and Communication Sciences fruitfully have been invaded by the spirit of interdisciplinarity in recent decades. The transformations generated by the paradigm of informationalism, the increasingly widespread use of ICT, the characteristics and demands of the network society have radically changed the role that historically occupied both fields within the social sciences. The Faculty of Communication at the University of Havana, the only of its kind in Cuba, welcomes the races of Journalism, Information Sciences and Social Communication and it is involved in an institutional movement to provide the info-communication of specific routes, both in theoretical and applied research. This article describes these routes, and some of the factors that stimulate or disadvantage them in the Cuban context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
