It is a fact that once passed the stage of compulsory education, the transition of a disabled child towards adult life and the world of employment is an increasing source of worry for parents. It is a process that terrifies parents and guidance is required as much for parents as for pupils to access useful employment or worthwhile activities and the adult world, besides personal autonomy and independence. This communication analyzes the different educational and occupational alternatives for disabled pupils. The employment of this group is recognized as key to enabling the disabled to participate fully in society and to achieve personal independence. It can also be the axis of an overall vehicular approach to actions to be developed for disabled adults.
