Objective: To compare the diagnosis effect of the TPPA (treponema pallidum gelatin particle agglutination test), RPR(rapid determination of plasma reaction) and USR(unheated serum reagin test) in patients with different clinical stages of syphilis. Methods: A total of 113 people with suspected of syphilis patients were retrospectively analyzed, of whom 99 were diagnosed with syphilis and the remaining 14 were normal. All the 113 persons adopted RPR, USR and TPPA diagnosis experiment. RPR, USR and TPPA diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value were evaluated. Results: The diagnosis sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value and negative predictive value of RPR and USR had no statistical significance(P>0.05).Each value of TPPA was higher than that of RPR and USR, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). RPR, USR in Syphilis I, II and III diagnosis rate had no statistical difference(P>0.05). But the TPPA in Syphilis I and II diagnosis rate was 100%. For III syphilis diagnosis, its rate was reduced, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05). Conclusion: USR and RPR have certain misdiagnosis rate for syphilis at different clinical stages, and in order to increase the rate of clinical suspected diagnosis, they should be jointed in syphilis detection. TPPA is confirmed experiment, but there is still some missed diagnosis for Syphilis III. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
