Organizational discourse is getting hyped and exaggerated about leadership. This results in shifting of rational preferences about leadership into absolutist musts. These hardened beliefs enter into the cognitive processes of the individuals at work places and thereby result in dysfunctional organizational behavior and high psychological stress. This study applies the cognitive psychotherapeutic framework of the rational emotive behavior therapy to discuss the implications of such beliefs in an organizational context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
