The accurate prediction of PM2.5 concentration across extensive temporal and spatial scales is essential for air pollution control and safeguarding public health. To address the challenges of the uneven coverage and limited number of traditional PM2.5 ground monitoring networks, the low inversion accuracy of PM2.5 concentration, and the incomplete understanding of its spatiotemporal dynamics, this study proposes a refined PM2.5 concentration estimation model, Bi-LSTM-SA, integrating multi-source remote sensing data. First, utilizing multi-source remote sensing data, such as MODIS aerosol optical depth (AOD) products, meteorological data, and PM2.5 monitoring sites, AERONET AOD was used to validate the accuracy of the MODIS AOD data. Variables including temperature (TEMP), relative humidity (RH), surface pressure (SP), wind speed (WS), and total precipitation (PRE) were selected, followed by the application of the variance inflation factor (VIF) and Pearson's correlation coefficient (R) for variable screening. Second, to effectively capture temporal dependencies and emphasize key features, an improved Long Short-Term Memory Network (LSTM) model, Bi-LSTM-SA, was constructed by combining a bidirectional LSTM (Bi-LSTM) model with a self-adaptive attention mechanism (SA). This model was evaluated through ablation and comparative experiments using three cross-validation methods: sample-based, temporal, and spatial. The effectiveness of this method was demonstrated on Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei urban agglomeration, achieving a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.89, root mean squared error (RMSE) of 12.76 μg/m3, and mean absolute error (MAE) of 8.27 μg/m3. Finally, this model was applied to predict PM2.5 concentration on Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei urban agglomeration in 2023, revealing the characteristics of its spatiotemporal evolution. Additionally, the results indicated that this model performs exceptionally well in hourly PM2.5 concentration forecasting and can be used for PM2.5 concentration hourly prediction tasks. Urbanization is growing at a rapid pace, and this is being reflected in the rising energy consumption from fossil fuels, which is contributing significantly to greenhouse gas impacts and carbon emissions (CE). Aiming at the problems of the time delay, inconsistency, uneven spatial coverage scale, and low precision of the current regional carbon emissions from energy consumption accounting statistics, this study builds a precise model for estimating the carbon emissions from regional energy consumption and analyzes the spatio-temporal characteristics. Firstly, in order to estimate the carbon emissions resulting from energy consumption, a fixed effects model was built using data on province energy consumption and NPP-VIIRS-like nighttime lighting data. Secondly, the PRD urban agglomeration was selected as the case study area to estimate the carbon emissions from 2012 to 2020 and predict the carbon emissions from 2021 to 2023. Then, their multi-scale spatial and temporal distribution characteristics were analyzed through trends and hotspots. Lastly, the influence factors of CE from 2012 to 2020 were examined with the OLS, GWR, GTWR, and MGWR models, as well as a ridge regression to enhance the MGWR model. The findings indicate that, from 2012 to 2020, the carbon emissions in the PRD urban agglomeration were characterized by the non-equilibrium feature of "high in the middle and low at both ends"; from 2021 to 2023, the central and eastern regions saw the majority of its high carbon emission areas, the east saw the region with the highest rate of growth, the east and the periphery of the high value area were home to the area of medium values, while the southern, central, and northern regions were home to the low value areas; carbon emissions were positively impacted by population, economics, land area, and energy, and they were negatively impacted by science, technology, and environmental factors. This study could provide technical support for the long-term time-series monitoring and remote sensing inversion of the carbon emissions from energy consumption in large-scale, complex urban agglomerations. Deep learning has gained widespread interest in the task of building semantic segmentation modelling using remote sensing images; however, neural network models require a large number of training samples to achieve better classification performance, and the models are more sensitive to error patches in the training samples. The training samples obtained in semi-supervised classification methods need less reliable weakly labelled samples, but current semi-supervised classification research puts the generated weak samples directly into the model for applications, with less consideration of the impact of the accuracy and quality improvement of the weak samples on the subsequent model classification. Therefore, to address the problem of generating and optimising the quality of weak samples from training data in deep learning, this paper proposes a semi-supervised building classification framework. Firstly, based on the test results of the remote sensing image segmentation model and the unsupervised classification results of LiDAR point cloud data, this paper quickly generates weak image samples of buildings. Secondly, in order to improve the quality of the spots of the weak samples, an iterative optimisation strategy of the weak samples is proposed to compare and analyse the weak samples with the real samples and extract the accurate samples from the weak samples. Finally, the real samples, the weak samples, and the optimised weak samples are input into the semantic segmentation model of buildings for accuracy evaluation and analysis. The effectiveness of this paper's approach was experimentally verified on two different building datasets, and the optimised weak samples improved by 1.9% and 0.6%, respectively, in the test accuracy mIoU compared to the initial weak samples. The results demonstrate that the semi-supervised classification framework proposed in this paper can be used to alleviate the model's demand for a large number of real-labelled samples while improving the ability to utilise weak samples, and it can be used as an alternative to fully supervised classification methods in deep learning model applications that require a large number of training samples. The monitoring and analysis of the spatiotemporal distribution of anthropogenic carbon emissions is an important part of realizing China's regional "dual carbon" goals; that is, the aim is for carbon emissions to peak in 2030 an to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060, as well as achieving sustainable development of the ecological environment. The column-averaged CO2 dry air mole fraction (XCO2) of greenhouse gas remote sensing satellites has been widely used to monitor anthropogenic carbon emissions. However, selecting a reasonable background region to eliminate the influence of uncertainty factors is still an important challenge to monitor anthropogenic carbon emissions by using XCO2. Aiming at the problems of the imprecise selection of background regions, this study proposes to enhance the anthropogenic carbon emission signal in the XCO2 by using the regional comparison method based on the idea of zoning. First, this study determines the background region based on the Open-Data Inventory for Anthropogenic Carbon dioxide (ODIAC) dataset and potential temperature data. Second, the average value of the XCO2 in the background area was extracted and taken as the XCO2 background. On this basis, the XCO2 anomaly (XCO2ano) was obtained by regional comparison method. Finally, the spatiotemporal variation characteristics and trends of XCO2ano were analyzed, and the correlations between the number of residential areas and fossil fuel emissions were calculated. The results of the satellite observation data experiments over China from 2010 to 2020 show that the XCO2ano and anthropogenic carbon emissions have similar spatial distribution patterns. The XCO2ano in China changed significantly and was in a positive growth trend as a whole. The XCO2ano values have a certain positive correlation with the number of residential areas and observations of fossil fuel emissions. The purpose of this research is to enhance the anthropogenic carbon emission signals in satellite observation XCO2 data by combining ODIAC data and potential temperature data, achieve the remote sensing monitoring and analysis of spatiotemporal changes in anthropogenic carbon emissions over China, and provide technical support for the policies and paths of regional carbon emission reductions and ecological environmental protection. At present, fine particulate matter (PM2.5) has become an important pollutant in regard to air pollution and has seriously harmed the ecological environment and human health. In the face of increasingly serious PM2.5 air pollution problems, feasible large-scale continuous spatial PM2.5 concentration monitoring provides great practical value and potential. Based on radiative transfer theory, a correlation model of the nighttime light radiance and ground PM2.5 concentration is established. A multiple linear regression model is proposed with the light radiance, meteorological elements (temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed) and terrain elements (elevation, slope, and terrain relief) as variables to estimate the ground PM2.5 concentration at 56 air quality monitoring stations in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) urban agglomeration from 2018 to 2019, and the accuracy of model estimation is tested. The results indicate that the R2 value between the model-estimated and measured values is 0.82 in the PRD region, and the model attains a high estimation accuracy. Moreover, the estimation accuracy of the model exhibits notable temporal and spatial heterogeneity. This study, to a certain extent, mitigates the shortcomings of traditional ground PM2.5 concentration monitoring methods with a high cost and low spatial resolution and complements satellite remote sensing technology. This study extends the use of LJ1-01 nighttime light remote sensing images to estimate nighttime PM2.5 concentrations. Urban planning and management need accurate three-dimensional (3D) data such as light detection and ranging (LiDAR) point clouds. The mobile laser scanning (MLS) data, with up to millimeter-level accuracy and point density of a few thousand points/m2, have gained increasing attention in urban applications. Substantial research has been conducted in the past decade. This paper conducted a comprehensive survey of urban applications and key techniques based on MLS point clouds. We first introduce the key characteristics of MLS systems and the corresponding point clouds, and present the challenges and opportunities of using the data. Next, we summarize the current applications of using MLS over urban areas, including transportation infrastructure mapping, building information modeling, utility surveying and mapping, vegetation inventory, and autonomous vehicle driving. Then, we review common key issues for processing and analyzing MLS point clouds, including classification methods, object recognition, data registration, data fusion, and 3D city modeling.
