The suddenness of landslide disasters often causes significant loss of life and property. Accurate assessment of landslide disaster susceptibility is of great significance in enhancing the ability of accurate disaster prevention. To address the problems of strong subjectivity in the selection of assessment indicators and low efficiency of the assessment process caused by the insufficient application of a priori knowledge in landslide susceptibility assessment, in this paper, we propose a novel landslide susceptibility assessment framework by combing domain knowledge graph and machine learning algorithms. Firstly, we combine unstructured data, extract priori knowledge based on the Unified Structure Generation for Universal Information Extraction Pre-trained model (UIE) fine-tuned with a small amount of labeled data to construct a landslide susceptibility knowledge graph. We use Paired Relation Vectors (PairRE) to characterize the knowledge graph, then construct a target area characterization factor recommendation model by calculating spatial correlation, attribute similarity, Term Frequency–Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) metrics. We select the optimal model and optimal feature combination among six typical machine learning (ML) models to construct interpretable landslide disaster susceptibility assessment mapping. Experimental validation and analysis are carried out on the three gorges area (TGA), and the results show the effectiveness of the feature factors recommended by the knowledge graph characterization learning, with the overall accuracy of the model after adding associated disaster factors reaching 87.2%. Since the current remote sensing pre-trained models trained on optical images are not as effective when applied to SAR image tasks, it is crucial to create sensor-specific SAR models with generalized feature representations and to demonstrate with evidence the limitations of optical pre-trained models in downstream SAR tasks. The following aspects are the focus of this study: pre-training, fine-tuning, and explaining. First, we collect the current large-scale open-source SAR scene image classification datasets to pre-train a series of deep neural networks, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and vision transformers (ViT). A novel dynamic range adaptive enhancement method and a mini-batch class-balanced loss are proposed to tackle the challenges in SAR scene image classification. Second, the pre-trained models are transferred to various SAR downstream tasks compared with optical ones. Lastly, we propose a novel knowledge point interpretation method to reveal the benefits of the SAR pre-trained model with comprehensive and quantifiable explanations. This study is reproducible using open-source code and datasets, demonstrates generalization through extensive experiments on a variety of tasks, and is interpretable through qualitative and quantitative analyses. This study presents a novel method for assessing landslide hazards along highways using remote sensing and machine learning. We extract geospatial features such as slope, aspect, and rainfall over Guangxi, China, and apply an extreme gradient boosting model pre-trained on contiguous United States datasets. The model produces susceptibility maps that indicate landslide probability at different scales. However, the lack of accurate data on historical landslides in Guangxi challenges the model evaluation and comparison between regions. To overcome this, we calibrate the model to fit the local conditions in Guangxi. The calibrated model agrees with the observed landslide locations, implying its capability to capture regional variations in landslide mechanisms. We apply the model at a 30 m resolution along the Heba Expressway and validate it against reports from July 2021 to March 2022. The model correctly predicts five of seven landslide events in this period with a reasonable alarm rate. This framework has the potential for large-scale landslide risk management by informing transportation planning and infrastructure maintenance decisions. More data on landslide timing and human disturbance events may improve the model's accuracy across diverse geographical areas and terrains. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Despeckling is a longstanding topic in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. Recently, many convolutional neural network (CNN) based methods have been proposed and shown state-of-the-art performance for SAR despeckling problem. However, these CNN based methods always need many training data or can only deal with specific noise level. To solve these problems, we directly embed an efficient CNN pre-trained model for additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) with Multi-channel Logarithm with Gaussian denoising (MuLoG) algorithm to deal with the multiplicative noise in SAR images. This flexible pre-trained CNN model takes the noise level as input, thus only a single pre-trained model is needed to deal with different noise levels. We also use a detector to find the homogeneous region automatically to estimate the noise level of image as input. Embedded with MuLoG, our proposed filter can despeckle not only single channel but also multi-channel SAR images. Finally, both simulated and real (Pol)SAR images were tested in experiments, and the results show that the proposed method has better and more robust performance than others.
