En este artículo se evalúa la eficacia de las reformas tributarias efectuadas durante el período 1973-2000 por medio de tres modelos ARIMAX para el recaudo real y la tasa recaudo/PIB. Este análisis, que sólo se incluye las reformas que cambiaron la base o las tarifas, o que buscaban aumentar el recaudo o disminuir la evasión, muestra que apenas dos de las quince reformas consideradas lograron afectar el recaudo: las de 1974 y 1990, con un efecto permanente.

El artículo discurre sobre el economista británico Ronald Coase y sus ideas sobre la teoría económica durante el siglo 20. Los autores comentan específicamente sobre las teorías de Keynes y las de Hayek así como la crítica de Coase. También se considera el concepto del mercado de las ideas.

The efficacy of tax reforms is estimated for the period 1973-2000 using three ARIMAX models for the real revenue and the revenue/GDP ratio. Based on literary sources and following Marshall Berman and Benedict Anderson's theory, this article outlines some key tendencies of English society prior to World War I. Economic modernization and political imperialism emerged while the cultural avant garde (i.e. modernism) was pushed into the background. Religious, sexual and political repression completed the picture and supported the fear of inner ruptures and discontinuities related to the experience of modernity; in contrast, conventions and other mechanisms were used to create the illusion of continuity in their place.
