This paper deals with the wide range of strategies employed in Bribri to express the number of nominal referents. These strategies include both the use of quantifiers and the different ways to codify the grammatical category of number, which distinguishes between singular and plural. The paper also analyzes the factors that allow the speaker to leave out the plural marking in certain words with a plural referent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
