Currently, within political and philosophical discourse, the public debate regarding the politics of recognition and the ethics of tolerance has gained significant relevance as mechanisms through which crucial social concepts and aspirations are intended to be materialized in our societies. These concepts are even incorporated at the level of constitutional principles, such as plurality, multiculturalism, respect for differences of all kinds, and the inclusion of everyone in the social and political project of our nations. As a tribute to Kant in celebration of the third century of his birth, this reflective article aims to establish a connection between the foundations of current public discourse --ethics of tolerance and politics of recognition-- and some postulates of Kantian philosophy, particularly with essential elements of his aesthetic theory. This approach also allows us to highlight this lesser-known aspect of the great philosopher from Königsberg and, in turn, adequately appreciate this very important area of philosophy.
