The article analyzes texts in the Roman law digest "Digeste" 19,2 compiled during the reign of the Emperor of the Byzantine Empire Justinien, which concern the law and jurisprudence of contracts between renters (locator), or owners, and property managers (conductor). It is noted that these contracts concern the renting of farms, usually to colonists, buildings, and apartments, builders and transporters, commissions with artisans, and the rental of slaves. Topics discussed include written rental and management contracts, the legal action in the event of a conflict, the colonists' responsibilities, and the legal status of slaves turned farmers.
