Bismuth(III) halide complexes with 1-ethyl-3-methylpyridinium (1-Et-3-MePy)3[Bi2I9] (1) and (1-Et-3-MePy)3[Bi3I12] (2) have been synthesized when BiI3 reacted with 1-ethyl-3-methylpyridinium iodide in organic solvents and characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. The purity of samples has been confirmed by X-ray powder diffraction analysis. The diffuse reflectance spectra were recorded and the band gap was estimated using the classical Kubelka–Munk formula. The thermal stability has been studied by the TGA method. Based on the results of the data obtained, the following conclusions can be drawn: (i) the structure and composition of the product is affected not only by the ratio of reagents but also by the choice of solvent for the reaction; (ii) the resulting complex compounds have high thermal stability (mass loss begins only at >250°C); (iii) the band gap is 2.11 and 1.96 eV for compounds 1 and 2, respectively. A new iron polyoxometalate complex, (Bu4N)4.3K0.7[PW11O39FeIIIN3]⋅2.5H2O (1), has been synthesized in 50% yield by the reaction of K7[PW11O39]⋅14H2O, Fe(NO3)3 ⋅ 9H2O, and NaN3 with subsequent addition of Bu4NBr. The compound has been characterized by elemental analysis, mass spectrometry, and vibrational spectroscopy. The unit cell parameters of 1 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction: cubic crystal system, space group I 3m, a = 17.82(1) Å, which is typical of salts of Keggin anions with strongly disordered Bu4N+ cations. Polynuclear bismuth(III) iodide complexes with 1-ethyl-4-dimethylaminopyridinium (1-EtDMAP)4[Bi8I28] (1) and (1-EtDMAP)BiI4 (2) have been obtained by the reactions of bismuth(III) iodide with an organic iodide salt cations in organic solvents and characterized by X-ray diffraction. Polyhalide salts of acetonitrile copper(I) complex cations [Cu(CH3CN)4]Br5 (1) and Cu(CH3CN)4]I5 (2) have been obtained by reactions of copper(II) bromide and copper(I) iodide with the corresponding dihalogen in acetonitrile solution and the corresponding hydrohalic acid. Polynuclear bromoantimonates(III) with alkanediyl-bis(3-methylpyridinium) cations (3-MePy )—(3-MePyC2)3[Sb2Br9]2 (1), (3-MePyC3)2[β-Sb4Br16] (2), and (3-MePyC4)2[α-Sb4Br16] (3)—and bromobismuthate(III) (3-MePyC3)3[Bi2Br9]2 (4) have been synthesized by reacting solutions of Sb2O3 (Bi2O3) in HBr with bromides of the corresponding organic cations. The reaction of uranyl nitrate with the [P8W48O184]40– polylacunary polyanion gives the [(UO2)7P8W48O184]26– (1) and [(UO2)8P8W48O184]24– (2) anions, which were isolated as potassium and ammonium salts. For K24[(UO2)8P8W48O184] · 50H2O · 3LiCl and (NH4)16H8[(UO2)8P8W48O184] · 50H2O, X-ray diffraction study was performed. The incorporation of uranyl ions into [P8W48O184]40– was confirmed by IR and Raman spectroscopy and by mass spectrometry.
