The sudden inrush of water poses a serious threat to the safety of workers during tunnel construction in the karst region of southwest China. To mitigate this risk, a model is proposed to assess the risk of water surge through a tunnel by combining improved game theory with uncertainty measure theory. Eight indicators of risk were extracted based on the solubility of rock, its geological structure, capacity for surface catchment, and hydrogeological factors, and were incorporated into the proposed model. The subjective weights of these indicators were obtained using the analytic hierarchy process, while their objective weights were calculated through the entropy weighting method and the criteria importance through intercriteria correlation method. An improved game theory-based method of combinatorial weighting was then used to construct the corresponding weight vectors. Single-indicator measurement functions and multi-indicator measurement matrices were utilized to classify and evaluate the indicators of the risk of a surge in water level based on a confidence criterion. The proposed method was applied to five typical karst sections of the Yanjin Tunnel of the Chongqing–Kunming High-speed Railway Project, and the method was validated by comparing the recorded and estimated inflow volume ranges during the project's construction, showing consistency with the actual evaluation results. On the western plateau of China, ventilation problems brought on by low atmospheric pressure must be overcome. And CO migration after blasting in high-altitude tunnel by inclined shaft has become a significant scientific issue. In this study, the Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) method was used to analyze the flow field characteristics at the junction of the inclined shaft and tunnel. In addition, the effects of different fan opening modes and different initial CO concentration distributions on the ventilation were discussed. The simulation results showed that the main difference in the ventilation wind field was reflected in the position of the vortex region due to the different fan opening modes. Meanwhile, various initial CO concentration distributions showed different migration when there was no air volume difference between the left and right tunnels. Eliminating vortex zones and fully using high velocity airflow could improve relative ventilation efficiency by at least 18%. CO would accumulate in the opposite direction of the tunnel if only one of the fans was turned on. Therefore, a two-stage ventilation scheme was proposed, and the energy consumption was reduced by at least 33%. This research can provide guidance on high-altitude tunnel construction with multiple working faces to improve ventilation efficiency and reduce energy consumption. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Agaricus section Minores contains the richest species diversity within the genus. Its Phylogeny is firstly presented by a Maximum Likelihood tree generated through DNA sequences from four gene regions of 91 species. Furthermore, a molecular dating analysis is conducted used those sequences, and it provided the divergence times of the clades within section Minores. Study showed section Minores has a tropical origin. Four main dispersal routes are proposed: (1) species from South Asia migrated through the Tibetan Plateau and reached Europe ca. 9-13 Ma; (2) species from out of South Asia dispersed to Europe in the earlier time of ca. 22 Ma; (3) species from South Asia dispersed through North Asia to Alaska, and reached West America around ca. 9 Ma; and (4) species from South Asia dispersed south and reached Oceania by at least three invading events about ca. 9, 12 and 16-18 Ma respectively. Those routes excepting the second route coincide with those of ectomycorrhizal mushrooms. To know whether the second route existed in the saprotrophic mushrooms requires further studies, and the fourth route may explain why the secotioid species occurring in Australia are morphologically similar but cluster in different phylogenetic clades. This study also demonstrates a great biodiversity of A. section Minores in China. Sixteen new species and three new records are introduced from China with morphological descriptions, illustrations, color photographs and phylogenetic analyses.

Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) c.677C>T and c.1298A>C variants were known to be associated with prostate cancer (PCa) risk with conflicting results, because of MTHFR and nutrient status interaction in the prostate development. In this large-scale, hospital-based, case-control study of 1817 PCa cases and 2026 cancer-free controls, we aimed to clarify the association between these two MTHFR variants and PCa risk in Shanghai and to explore the underlying molecular mechanisms. We found that both the heterozygous CT (adjusted OR = 0.78, 95% CI: 0.67-0.92) and the homozygous TT genotypes (adjusted OR = 0.68, 95% CI: 0.55-0.83) of c.677C>T were associated with a significantly decreased risk of PCa compared with homozygous wild-type CC genotype, respectively, using multivariate logistic regression. Furthermore, we confirmed that MTHFR c.677T allele was related to an increased serum homocysteine level in the Han Chinese population in Shanghai. In the cultured PCa cell lines, we observed that MTHFR c.677T could elevate the cellular homocysteine level and cause DNA damage, thus increasing cell apoptosis and finally inhibiting cell proliferation. In conclusion, MTHFR c.677T was a protective factor of PCa risk in ethnic Han Chinese males by inducing DNA damage and cell apoptosis.
