Effective forecasting of energy consumption structure is vital for China to reach its "dual carbon" objective. However, little attention has been paid to existing studies on the holistic nature and internal properties of energy consumption structure. Therefore, this paper incorporates the theory of compositional data into the study of energy consumption structure, which not only takes into account the specificity of the internal features of the structure, but also digs deeper into the relative information. Meanwhile, based on the minimization theory of squares of the Aitchison distance in the compositional data, a combined model based on the three single models, namely the metabolism grey model (MGM), back-propagation neural network (BPNN) model, and autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model, is structured in this paper. The forecast results of the energy consumption structure in 2023–2040 indicate that the future energy consumption structure of China will evolve towards a more diversified pattern, but the proportion of natural gas and non-fossil energy has yet to meet the policy goals set by the government. This study explores the analysis and modeling of energy consumption in the context of database workloads, aiming to develop an eco-friendly database management system (DBMS). It leverages vibration energy harvesting systems with self-sustaining wireless vibration sensors (WVSs) in combination with the least square support vector machine algorithm to establish an energy consumption model (ECM) for relational database workloads. Through experiments, the performance of self-sustaining WVS in providing power is validated, and the accuracy of the proposed ECM during the execution of Structured Query Language (SQL) statements is evaluated. The findings demonstrate that this approach can reliably predict the energy consumption of database workloads, with a maximum prediction error rate of 10% during SQL statement execution. Furthermore, the ECM developed for relational databases closely approximates actual energy consumption for query operations, with errors ranging from 1 to 4%. In most cases, the predictions are conservative, falling below the actual values. This finding underscores the high predictive accuracy of the ECM in anticipating relational database workloads and their associated energy consumption. Additionally, this paper delves into prediction accuracy under different types of operations and reveals that ECM excels in single-block read operations, outperforming multi-block read operations. ECM exhibits substantial accuracy in predicting energy consumption for SQL statements in sequential and random read modes, especially in specialized database management system environments, where the error rate for the sequential read model is lower. In comparison to alternative models, the proposed ECM offers superior precision. Furthermore, a noticeable correlation between model error and the volume of data processed by SQL statements is observed. The agriculture Internet of Things (IoT) has been widely applied in assisting pear farmers with pest and disease prediction, as well as precise crop management, by providing real-time monitoring and alerting capabilities. To enhance the effectiveness of agriculture IoT monitoring applications, clustering protocols are utilized in the data transmission of agricultural wireless sensor networks (AWSNs). However, the selection of cluster heads is a NP-hard problem, which cannot be solved effectively by conventional algorithms. Based on this, This paper proposes a novel AWSNs clustering model that comprehensively considers multiple factors, including node energy, node degree, average distance and delay. Furthermore, a novel high-performance cluster protocol based on Gaussian mutation and sine cosine firefly algorithm (GSHFA-HCP) is proposed to meet the practical requirements of different scenarios. The innovative Gaussian mutation strategy and sine–cosine hybrid strategy are introduced to optimize the clustering scheme effectively. Additionally, an efficient inter-cluster data transmission mechanism is designed based on distance between nodes, residual energy, and load. The experimental results show that compared with other four popular schemes, the proposed GSHFA-HCP protocol has significant performance improvement in reducing network energy consumption, extending network life and reducing transmission delay. In comparison with other protocols, GSHFA-HCP achieves optimization rates of 63.69%, 17.2%, 19.56%, and 35.78% for network lifespan, throughput, transmission delay, and packet loss rate, respectively. This paper presents an innovative control scheme designed to significantly enhance the power factor of AC/DC boost rectifiers by integrating an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) with predictive current control. The innovative control strategy addresses key challenges in power quality and energy efficiency, demonstrating exceptional performance under diverse operating conditions. Through rigorous simulation, the proposed system achieves precise input current shaping, resulting in a remarkably low total harmonic distortion (THD) of 3.5%, which is well below the IEEE-519 standard threshold of 5%. Moreover, the power factor reaches an outstanding 0.990, indicating highly efficient energy utilization and near-unity power factor operation. To validate the theoretical findings, a 500 W laboratory prototype was implemented using the dSPACE ds1104 digital controller. Steady-state analysis reveals sinusoidal input currents with minimal THD and a power factor approaching unity, thereby enhancing grid stability and energy efficiency. Transient response tests further demonstrate the system's robustness against load and voltage fluctuations, maintaining output voltage stability within an 18 V overshoot and a 20 V undershoot during load changes, and achieving rapid response times as low as 0.2 s. Comparative evaluations against conventional methods underscore the superiority of the proposed control strategy in terms of both performance and implementation simplicity. By harnessing the strengths of ANFIS-based voltage regulation and predictive current control, this scheme offers a robust solution to power quality issues in AC/DC boost rectifiers, promising substantial energy savings and improved grid stability. Understanding nuclear behaviour is fundamental in nuclear physics. This paper introduces a data-driven approach, Continued Fraction Regression (cf-r), to analyze nuclear binding energy (B(A, Z)). Using a tailored loss function and analytic continued fractions, our method accurately approximates stable and experimentally confirmed unstable nuclides. We identify the best model for nuclides with A ≥ 200 , achieving precise predictions with residuals smaller than 0.15 MeV. Our model's extrapolation capabilities are demonstrated as it converges with upper and lower bounds at the nuclear mass limit, reinforcing its accuracy and robustness. The results offer valuable insights into the current limitations of state-of-the-art data-driven approaches in approximating the nuclear binding energy. In this paper the photobiomodulation on isolated mitochondria of bovine liver is studied as a thermodynamic process of conversion of energy. This analysis is conducted by considering a particular set-up for the photobiomodulation experiments of interest. It allows, in particular, the computation of the electromagnetic field and the related energetic quantities in the stimulated organelles. The measurements of the excess of biochemical power density produced by the illuminated mitochondria are performed at regular time intervals after the experiments. The calculations and the measurements finally allow us to obtain the first results on the efficiency of the process of conversion of electromagnetic energy into excess of biochemical energy released by the isolated organelles. Recent years have witnessed the remarkable progress in wireless communication systems due to the escalating demand for higher data rates, improved reliability, and increased energy efficiency. In this regard, Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) has emerged as a promising technology, enhancing spectral efficiency and accommodating multiple users concurrently within the same time and frequency resources. Simultaneously, the energy harvesting has surfaced as a sustainable solution, converting ambient environmental energy into usable electrical power for operating communication nodes. This paper proposes a cooperative NOMA transmission scheme integrating energy harvesting and utilizing Least Squares (LS) channel estimation for precise Channel State Information (CSI) acquisition. The objective is to establish an optimal communication path from source to destination. Relay selection methods: Optimal Relay Selection (ORS) and Max-Min Relay Selection (MMRS), are compared, focusing on their impact on the system performance. The analysis considers the influence of the number of relays and power allocation factor on the system, with a specific emphasis on the outage probability expressions. Comparative analysis between the cooperative-NOMA and the traditional cooperative relaying without NOMA reveals the superior performance of the cooperative-NOMA. In view of the current problems of spectrum resource scarcity, return congestion, and insufficient energy utilization in the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-assisted Internet of Vehicles (IoV), this paper investigates the cooperative caching and power control, and proposes a joint optimization method to improve the overall Energy Efficiency (EE). In this method, we first propose a communication establishment threshold to control the V2V communication distance and serve as a joint optimization factor. Then we derive the closed form expressions of offloading ratio and EE of the UAV-assisted IoV, and formulate the optimization problem of maximizing EE. Due to the coupling relationship between caching strategy and transmission power, it is difficult for us to directly solve the optimization problem. Furthermore, we propose an alternating optimization algorithm for solving the optimization problem. Finally, the experimental simulation compare the propose joint optimization method with other existing optimization methods, and the simulation results prove the effectiveness and superiority of the propose joint optimization method. In this paper, we prove the existence of a reservoir that has a finite-dimensional output and makes the reservoir computing model universal. Reservoir computing is a method for dynamical system approximation that trains the static part of a model but fixes the dynamical part called the reservoir. Hence, reservoir computing has the advantage of training models with a low computational cost. Moreover, fixed reservoirs can be implemented as physical systems. Such reservoirs have attracted attention in terms of computation speed and energy consumption. The universality of a reservoir computing model is its ability to approximate an arbitrary system with arbitrary accuracy. Two sufficient reservoir conditions to make the model universal have been proposed. The first is the combination of fading memory and the separation property. The second is the neighborhood separation property, which we proposed recently. To date, it has been unknown whether a reservoir with a finite-dimensional output can satisfy these conditions. In this study, we prove that no reservoir with a finite-dimensional output satisfies the former condition. By contrast, we propose a single output reservoir that satisfies the latter condition. This implies that, for any dimension, a reservoir making the model universal exists with the output of that specified dimension. Demand-side flexible load resources, such as Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Air Conditioners (ACs), offer significant potential for enhancing flexibility in the power system, thereby promoting the full integration of renewable energy. To this end, this paper proposes an optimal allocation method for demand-side flexible resources to enhance renewable energy consumption. Firstly, the adjustable flexibility of these resources is modeled based on the generalized energy storage model. Secondly, we generate random scenarios for wind, solar, and load, considering variable correlations based on non-parametric probability predictions of random variables combined with Copula function sampling. Next, we establish the optimal allocation model for demand-side flexible resources, considering the simulated operation of these random scenarios. Finally, we optimize the demand-side resource transformation plan year by year based on the growth trend forecast results of renewable energy installed capacity in Jiangsu Province from 2025 to 2031. Open water transposition channels in hot and arid regions, like those in the São Francisco River Integration Project (PISF) in Brazil, suffer significant water losses through evaporation. This paper proposes covering these channels with photovoltaic (PV) panels to reduce evaporation while simultaneously generating clean energy. The research aims to quantify water savings and energy generation potential across all channel lengths and assess whether the generated solar power can substitute grid electricity for powering the transposition pumps during peak hours, thereby enhancing energy efficiency. This study analyzed the state-of-the-art of PV generation and calculated their solar potential. Identified the specific characteristics of PISF channels and watercourses considering the regional geography, meteorology, irradiation, and social peculiarities. And, finally, assessed the feasibility of covering the watercourses with solar panels. The results reveal that covering all current PISF channels with PV panels could save up to 25,000 cubic meters of water per day, significantly contributing to water security and improving the quality of life for the local population. Additionally, the project could generate 1200 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, meeting the energy demands of the transposition pumps during peak hours and promoting energy efficiency within the project. This paper presents a comprehensive approach for optimal charge scheduling and on-board vehicular control of electrified fleets based on synthetic driving cycles. The proposed approach is conducted within a real case-study in Cairo, Egypt, whereto a representative distance-based driving cycle has been synthesized using K-means clustering over a sliding horizon of gathered data-sets. Two multi-objective problems defining optimal charge scheduling and vehicular control have been formulated to achieve minimal energy consumption and operating cost of the fleet. Non-dominant genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) has been implemented to solve the optimization problems jointly considering fluctuating electricity cost of the grid. The comparative evaluation of results reveals an improvement of 19% and 28% in energy consumption and retention of on-board energy accordingly, with less than 2% mitigation of driveability. Moreover, a reduction of 40.8%, 20%, and 21.9% in fleet size, required charging stations, and annual recharging cost respectively has been realized. The main innovation of this work can be put forward as the ability to address the above-mentioned quadrilateral objectives of electrified fleets in a single comprehensive approach, considering synthetic driving cycles and electricity prices to yield a customized-optimal solution. This paper proposes a refrigerant cooling method using an inner tube in a storage tank to improve the cooling performance and thermal uniformity during the storing of edible oil. With a prototype of an oil tank in Central Grain Reserve of Zhenjiang, the experimental oil tank was built in a scale of 50:1. Both natural and manual cooling experiments were carried out for the experimental tank. The manual cooling process involved two supplying modes for the refrigerant tube (top and bottom) and four different refrigerant temperatures (10 ℃, 12 ℃, 14 ℃, 16 ℃). The experimental results show that, compared with natural cooling, manual cooling can effectively reduce the temperature difference and thermal stratification between upper and lower layers. The temperature difference is 6.79 ℃, 1.93 ℃, and 3.67 ℃ for the natural cooling, manual top supplying, and manual bottom supplying mode, respectively. Furthermore, for the two manual modes, the cooling efficiency of bottom supplying is 21.4% higher than that of the top supplying, and the average oil temperature drops by 0.8–1 ℃. Based on experimental results, different working conditions (20, 40, and 60 ml/s) were simulated to determine the optimal flow rate for bottom supplying mode. The simulation results indicate that the low flow rate (20 ml/s) corresponds to the best thermal uniformity, and the maximum temperature has no obvious change under different flow rate conditions. High temperature impacts the performance of marathon athletes, and hypothermia harms athletes. Twenty-one runners died, and eight were injured in the China Baiyin marathon on May 22, 2021. It's a typical human life test. The energy equations are combined with the maximum energy supply of Chinese male athletes to study this accident. We analyze the human body's route slope, travel speed, and heat dissipation under low temperatures in this marathon. The study shows that the large slope and long-distance of CP2 to CP3 section and the low temperature during the competition are the main reasons for the accident. The method of quantifying the slope and temperature and calculating the percentage of athletes' physical consumption proposed in this paper can evaluate the route design of field marathons. We suggest that the physical energy consumption ratio of 90%, i.e. 315 cal/min/kg, should be taken as the maximum energy supply for Chinese male marathon runners. Dangerous risk zones for wind speed and temperature on dangerous path sections are also formulated for athletes to make their assessments. This paper proposes a plan to manage energy consumption in residential areas using the demand response method, which allows electricity users to contribute to the reliability of the power system by controlling their usage. Due to the growing population, the residential sector consumes a significant amount of energy, and the objectives of this study are to lower electricity costs and the peak to average ratio, as well as reduce the amount of imported electricity from the grid. The study aims to maximize profit by properly utilizing renewable energy sources and addressing energy trading. The manta ray foraging optimization (MRFO) and long term memory MRFO (LMMRFO) algorithms are used to solve this problem. Firstly, the validation of the proposed LMMRFO technique is confirmed by seven benchmark functions and compared its results with the results of the well-known optimization algorithms including hunter prey optimization, gorilla troops optimizer, beluga whale optimization, and the original MRFO algorithm. Then, the performance of the LMMRFO is checked on the optimization of smart home energy management. In the suggested approach, a smart home decides whether to purchase or sell electricity from the commercial grid based on the cost, demand, and production of electricity from its own microgrid, which consists of a wind turbine and solar panels. Energy storage systems support the stable and dependable functioning of the power system since the solar panel and wind turbine only occasionally produce electricity. Through various case studies, the proposed plan is tested and found to be effective in reducing electricity costs and the peak to average ratio while maximizing profit. Industrial mixers are equipment used in food, drug, chemical and semiconductor industries. Chaotic mixing has been proposed to improve the degree of homogeneity and reduce the energy consumption. This paper deals with dynamical studies of a mixer model with complex rotational movements. The complexity is generated by an inductance with hysteretic characteristics. Mathematical methods and numerical simulations are used to display the different dynamical states which are period-nT, pulse, bursting and chaotic signals. Optimisation of energy efficiency and operational performance as well as assessment of safety levels and emissions of marine operations require detailed information about the acting wave system. It is possible—with an analogy to classical wave buoys—to estimate the directional wave spectrum by processing sensor measurements of wave-induced responses (e.g., motions and structural responses) from a ship. Compared to other sources of wave data (e.g., buoys, satellites, third-generation wave models), estimation concepts using the ship itself as a buoy provide the wave spectrum at the exact spatio-temporal point, potentially increasing accuracy and with minimal associated cost. Static formations of swarms of rotorcraft drones, used for example in disaster management, are subject to intrusions, and must bear the cost of holding the formation while avoiding collisions which leads to their increased energy consumption. While the behaviour of the intruder is unpredictable, the formation can have its parameters set to try to balance the cost of avoidance with its functionality. The novel model presented in this paper assists in the selection of parameter values. It is based on multivariate linear regression, and provides an estimate of the average disturbance caused by an intruder as a function of the values of the parameters of a formation. Cross-entropy is used as a metric for the disturbance, and the data based are generated through simulations. The model explains up to 54.4% of the variability in the value of the cross-entropy, providing results that are twice as good as the baseline estimator of the mean cross-entropy. The internal combustion engine is a widely used power equipment in various fields, and its energy utilization is measured using brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC). BSFC map plays a crucial role in the analysis, optimization, and assessment of internal combustion engines. However, due to cost constraints, some values on the BSFC map are estimated using techniques like K-nearest neighbor, inverse distance weighted interpolation, and multi-layer perceptron, which are recognized for their limited accuracy, particularly when dealing with distributed sampled data. To address this, an improved random forest method is proposed for the estimation of BSFC. Polynomial features are employed to increase higher dimensions of features for random forest by nonlinear transformation, and critical parameters are optimized by particle swarm optimization algorithms. The performance of different methods was compared on two datasets to estimate 20%, 30%, and 40% of BSFC data, and the results reveal that the method proposed in this paper outperforms other common methods and is suitable for estimating the BSFC map. Floorplan energy assessments present a highly efficient method for evaluating the energy efficiency of residential properties without requiring physical presence. By employing computer modelling, an accurate determination of the building's heat loss or gain can be achieved, enabling planners and homeowners to devise energy-efficient renovation or redevelopment plans. However, the creation of an AI model for floorplan element detection necessitates the manual annotation of a substantial collection of floorplans, which poses a daunting task. This paper introduces a novel active learning model designed to detect and annotate the primary elements within floorplan images, aiming to assist energy assessors in automating the analysis of such images–an inherently challenging problem due to the time-intensive nature of the annotation process. Our active learning approach initially trained on a set of 500 annotated images and progressively learned from a larger dataset comprising 4500 unlabelled images. This iterative process resulted in mean average precision score of 0.833, precision score of 0.972, and recall score of 0.950. We make our dataset publicly available under a Creative Commons license. China's economic growth has reached a new plateau. It is no longer appropriate to use the old economic growth model, which relied on labor, land resources, mineral resources, and other economic considerations. Under the background of artificial intelligence, high-quality economic development is an inevitable trend. A new financial paradigm called "digital finance" integrates financial services with information technologies. Digital financial technology is thought to be a crucial foundation for fostering high-quality and sustainable economic and social development since it may offer more economic entities reduced cost of capital and more realistic financial service skills than in traditional financial models. In the era of artificial intelligence, how to reasonably release the momentum of digital finance for China's sustained economic growth has become a hot topic of discussion at this stage. This paper studies the impact of digital finance on the economic efficiency of the energy industry in the context of artificial intelligence. Relevant metrics were also calculated. The findings revealed that: The benchmark regression result of digital finance on the efficiency of the green economy was 0.4685 before adding the main restrictions; the benchmark regression result of digital finance on the efficiency of the green economy was 0.2243 after adding the main constraints. Many developing countries are facing the difficulty of choosing between economic growth and energy conservation and emission reduction (ECER). China has strengthened the implementation of ECER by setting environmental accountability as the development goal of local governments, hoping to have better governance effects. To evaluate the actual intervention effect of this approach, this paper constructs panel data covering 46 countries from 1995 to 2014 and uses the difference-in-differences (DID) method and the composite control method to quantitatively analyse the policy effect. The results show that China can effectively curb energy consumption and carbon emission intensity per unit of GDP by adding ECER targets to the government's five-year plan, which has significant effects on ECER. Furthermore, we use an intermediary mechanism to test and identify low-carbon alternatives and an ECER promotion mechanism for technological advancement. The conclusion shows that economic development is compatible with low carbon and energy consumption. Combined with China's long-term goals for ECER, it can be considered that on the road to achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality in the future, the economy and tertiary industry should be rationally developed, the degree of urbanization should receive more attention, and the proportion of thermal power generation should be reduced. Analyzing of the energy consumption (EC) in bus operation is important for reducing operating costs, improving sustainable solutions and creating environmentally friendly cities. The purpose of this paper is to identify the factors, such as passenger load, speed and acceleration, that affect significantly EC in bus operation. This paper builds a simulation framework for describing the level of energy based on the vehicle-engine combined (VEC) EC model. On the basis of the relationship between engine torque, power, traction and EC, the simulation framework mainly includes the road model, vehicle model, engine model and driver strategy. Furthermore, the correlations between energy consumption, passenger load, vehicle speed and acceleration are analyzed in different station spacing. The results show that the passenger load has a significant impact on EC of buses, and is related to the vehicle's speed and acceleration. Generally, the higher the maximum driving speed, the higher the EC of the bus. Acceleration strategies and maximum speed limits are critical factors determining the EC of bus for a certain passenger load and station spacing. For the same station spacing and maximum driving speed, the acceleration phase is under a greater contribution to the increase of EC. In addition, the greater the maximum speed limit or the acceleration, the greater the contribution percentage of EC increase in the acceleration phase. The simulation framework based on vehicle-engine combined EC model and specific fuel consumption maps can obtain the operating EC of buses for situations with different station spacing and maximum speed, which is conducive to vehicle operation EC analysis. Acceleration strategies and maximum speed limits are critical factors determining the EC of bus for a certain passenger load and station spacing. This paper studies an adjacent accumulation discrete grey model to improve the prediction of the grey model and enhance the utilization of new data. The impact of COVID-19 on the global economy is also discussed. Two cases are discussed to prove the stability of the adjacent accumulation discrete grey model, which helped the studied model attain higher forecasting accuracy. Using the adjacent accumulation discrete grey model, non-renewable energy consumption in G20 countries from 2022 to 2026 is predicted based on their consumption data from 2011 to 2021. It is proven that the adjacent accumulation exhibits sufficient accuracy and precision. Forecasting results obtained in this paper show that energy consumption of all the non-renewable sources other than coal has an increasing trend during the forecasting period, with the USA, Russia, and China being the biggest consumers. Natural gas is the most consumed non-renewable energy source between 2022 and 2026, whereas hydroelectricity is the least consumed. The USA is the biggest consumer of Nuclear energy among the G20 countries, whereas Argentina consumed only 0.1 Exajoules of nuclear energy, placing it at the end of nuclear energy consumers. There is a generalized consensus in the Non-Intrusive Load Monitoring research community on the importance of public datasets for improving this research field. Still, despite the considerable efforts to release public data, what is currently available suffers from serious issues, among which is the lack of widely accepted data models and common interfaces to access the currently available and future datasets. This paper proposes the Energy Monitoring and Disaggregation Data Format (EMD-DF64). EMD-DF64 is a data model, file format, and application programming interface developed to provide a unique interface to create, manage, and access high-frequency (≥ 1 Hz) electric energy consumption datasets. Video calling is one of the most energy-intensive features in apps requiring the simultaneous operation of the mobile camera, display screen, audio speaker, and internet services. This feature impacts a smartphone battery's runtime and lifetime. This paper is the first of its kind experimental study, which quantifies the operating profile (discharge current, temperature, and terminal voltage) of video call feature in multiple widely used social media apps, which include WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Zoom, Skype, WeChat, Google Hangouts, Imo and Viber. One smartphone each of Vivo and Motorola has been evaluated as the manufacturer-provided application programming interface (API) allowed real-time measurement of the operating profile. Results indicate that the video calling feature for Facebook Messenger and Imo is the most energy efficient. In contrast, Google Hangouts is up to 35% more energy-intensive for video calling than other apps. Measurements also show that Vivo's in-service battery temperature is lower than Motorola due to its efficient chipset. For instance, during active Google Hangouts operation for 1 h, Vivo temperature is limited to 46 °C, whereas Motorola temperature rises to 52 °C. This paper investigates the role of nuclear energy in promoting ecological sustainability in India, focusing on three ecological indicators: ecological footprint (EF), CO2 emissions (CO2), and load capacity factor (LF). In addition to nuclear energy, the study considers the influence of gas consumption and other drivers of ecological sustainability using data spanning from 1970 to 2018. The analysis also takes into account the impact of the 2008 global financial crisis on the model, employing the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) and frequency domain causality approaches to assess the relationships. Unlike previous studies, this research evaluates both the Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) and load capacity curve (LCC) hypotheses. The ARDL results support the validity of both the EKC and LCC hypotheses in the Indian context. Furthermore, the findings reveal that nuclear energy and human capital contribute positively to ecological quality, while gas consumption and economic growth have a negative impact on ecological sustainability. The study also highlights the increasing effect of the 2008 global financial crisis on ecological sustainability. Additionally, the causality analysis demonstrates that nuclear energy, human capital, gas consumption, and economic growth can serve as predictors of long-term ecological sustainability in India. To study the mechanism and performance of rock breakage by an undercutting disc cutter with advanced slotting, a three-dimensional numerical model of rock cutting by a disc cutter with advanced slotting assistance was established based on the discrete element method. The parallel bond constitutive model was selected to describe the micromechanical properties of rock. The correctness of the established numerical model is verified through rock breakage experiments, and the rock cutting process by the disc cutter was analyzed by a combination of the force chain and crack distribution. The influencing factors, such as advanced slotting depth, cutting thickness, rock strength, and cutter rotation speed, on rock cutting performance were investigated. The results show that a compact zone is gradually formed between the rock and disc cutter at the beginning, then a large number of microscopic tensile and shear cracks in the compact zone due to micro failure of rock are formed; the subsequent main rock fragment is mainly caused by tensile failure; advanced slotting can reduce the rock bearing capacity and bending resistance, the rock above the advanced slotting fractured easily due to its lower bending resistance, and the volume compact zone is relatively small. When the advanced slotting depth is equal to 12.5 mm, the propulsive force and specific energy consumption of rock cutting by the disc cutter are reduced by 61.6% and 16.5%, respectively. The propulsive force and specific energy consumption increase as the rock strength increases, but they tend to close when the rock strength is greater than 80 MPa, which indicates that advanced slotting assistance is more suitable for hard rock. The results obtained in this paper can provide the operating parameters determination under different factors to some extent of the undercutting disc cutter in a pre-cut condition, which further improve the rock breaking performance of mechanized cutter. Control of vehicle platoon can effectively reduce the traffic accidents caused by fatigue driving and misoperation, reduce air resistance by eliminating the inter-vehicle gap which will effectively reduce fuel consumption and exhaust emissions. A hierarchical control scheme for vehicle platoons is proposed in this paper. Considering safety, consistency, and passengers' comfort, a synchronous distributed model predictive controller is designed as an upper-level controller, in which a constraint guaranteeing string stability is introduced into the involved local optimization problem so as to guarantee that the inter-vehicle gap error gradually attenuates as it propagates downstream. A terminal equality constraint is added to guarantee asymptotic consensus of vehicle platoons. By constructing the vehicle inverse longitudinal dynamics model, a lower-level control scheme with feedforward and feedback controllers is designed to adjust the throttle angle and brake pressure of vehicles. A PID is used as the feedback controller to eliminate the influence of unmodeled dynamics and uncertainties. The spectral efficiency (SE) can approximately double when using full-duplex (FD) multiuser MIMO communications. However, there are difficulties because of multiuser interferences, self-interference (SI), and co-channel interference (CCI). To improve the SE of the downlink (DL), this paper proposes CCI-aware enhancement to SLNR (signal-to-leakage-and-noise-ratio) signal-to-leakage-and-noise-ratio (SLNR). It considers a suppressing filter at the receiver to cancel the interferences again designing a beamformer based on CCI-plus-noise covariance matrices for every user at the transmitting side. Additionally, we propose an improvement in the SLNR method by using SI-plus-noise covariance matrices to design uplink (UL) beamformers. Unlike zero-forcing and block-diagonalization, the SLNR approach serves numerous antennas at users and BS (base station). The total SE of the communication yielded using the optimized precoder, i.e., obtained from the SLNR-based precoding. To achieve maximum energy efficiency (EE), we use a power consumption model. Simulation results confirm that full-duplex performs well compared to half-duplex (HD) when the number of antennas at every user in uplink as well downlink channels grow, for all Rician factors, for slight powers of the CCI and SI, and a limited number of antennas at the BS. Wood fiber is a great potential supportive material for creating a new composite the phase change materials (PCM) due to its beneficial qualities, including high sorption competency, low density, enviro -friendliness, economic effectiveness, and chemical inertness. The main objective of this paper is to study the effect of using the wood fiber/eutectic mixture of stearic and capric acid on the fuel, cost, and carbon emission-saving potentials for various PCM cases. Which experiences a phase transition within the thermally pleasant temperature range of buildings, used for the building's thermal energy storing purposes and consumption cost saving. The energy performance analysis was carried out for buildings incorporated with stearic and capric acid eutectic mixture of PCM with wood fiber-based insulation material (INS) in different climate regions. The results showed that the largest energy-saving capacity belongs to PCM5. The energy saving reaches 52.7% for PCM5 for a thickness of 0.1 m. The PCM1, PCM2, PCM3, PCM4 can provide energy saving rates of 23.5%, 34.3%, 44.7% and 50.5%, respectively. INS-PCM5 can provide about 1.74-, 1.5-, and 1.33 times larger cost savings than INS in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th regions for all fuels. Recent research has focused on photovoltaic (PV) systems due to their important properties. The efficiency of the PV system can be enhanced by many Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithms proposals. MPPT algorithms are used to achieve maximum PV output power by optimizing the duty cycle of the DC–DC buck/boost converter. This paper introduces an RNA algorithm as an efficient MPPT algorithm for the photovoltaic system. This proposed RNA algorithm consists of two main segments. The first segment is an artificial neural network for generating reference power. The second segment is a proposed Recursive Bit Assignment (RBA) network to allow variable step size of the boost converter duty cycle. The instant PV power adopts the RBA network to produce the variable duty cycle increment value. Additionally, the neural network is implemented in such a way to obtain the best performance. Many simulation results using MATLAB to test the system performance are presented. The performance characteristics of the photovoltaic system with variable irradiance and variable temperature are simulated. From results, the proposed RNA algorithm achieves fast tracking time, high energy efficiency, true maximum power point and acceptable ripple. Additionally, comparisons between the RNA algorithm and other related algorithms such as Perturb and Observe, the Neural Network and the Adaptive Neural Inference System Algorithms are executed. The proposed RNA algorithm achieves the best performance in all case studies such as; irradiance profile variation, severe temperature and irradiance diversions, and partial shading conditions. Flying ad-hoc networks (FANETs) include a large number of drones, which communicate with each other based on an ad hoc model. These networks provide new opportunities for various applications such as military, industrial, and civilian applications. However, FANETs have faced with many challenges like high-speed nodes, low density, and rapid changes in the topology. As a result, routing is a challenging issue in these networks. In this paper, we propose an energy-aware routing scheme in FANETs. This scheme is inspired by the optimized link state routing (OLSR). In the proposed routing scheme, we estimate the connection quality between two flying nodes using a new technique, which utilizes two parameters, including ratio of sent/received of hello packets and connection time. Also, our proposed method selects multipoint relays (MPRs) using the firefly algorithm. It chooses a node with high residual energy, high connection quality, more neighborhood degree, and higher willingness as MPR. Finally, our proposed scheme creates routes between different nodes based on energy and connection quality. Our proposed routing scheme is simulated using the network simulator version 3 (NS3). We compare its simulation results with the greedy optimized link state routing (G-OLSR) and the optimized link state routing (OLSR). These results show that our method outperforms G-OLSR and OLSR in terms of delay, packet delivery rate, throughput, and energy consumption. Energy harvesting (EH) is a potential solution to enhance the node sustainability and prolong the network lifetime of cognitive radio sensor networks (CRSNs). However, CRSNs nodes can only harvest energy from the direct link with energy sources, and severe path loss results in low energy utilization ratio. To solve the above problem, intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is introduced, and a shared reflection coefficient matrix-based EH scheme is proposed for IRS-aided CRSNs in this paper. An optimization problem with the objective of maximizing the total amount of energy harvested by all CRSNs nodes is formulated, and by optimally adjusting the IRS reflection coefficient, CRSNs nodes can harvest energy from both the direct link and the cascaded reflection link via IRS, which increases the amount of harvested energy. In addition, a subsurface partition-based EH scheme is proposed to reduce the additional computational complexity brought by increasing IRS elements or CRSNs nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes can both dramatically improve energy utilization ratio, and the subsurface partition-based EH scheme will bring in less than 1 percent performance loss when compared with the other scheme, i.e., reasonable subsurface partition can achieve a balance between harvested energy and computational complexity. This paper aims the development of a new reduced-cost algorithm for a multi-objective robust transmitter placement under uncertainty. Toward this end, we propose a new hybrid Kriging/Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) approach combined with robust design optimization to estimate the set of Pareto frontier by searching robustness as well as accuracy (lower objective function) in a design space. We consider minimization of the energy power consumption for transmitting as well as maximization of signal coverage in a multi-objective robust optimization model. The reliability of the model to control signal overlap for multiple transmitting antennas is also provided. To smooth computational cost, the proposed method instead of evaluating all receiver test points in each optimization iteration approximates signal coverages using Kriging interpolation to obtain optimal transmitter positions. The results demonstrate the utility and the efficiency of the proposed method in rendering the robust optimal design and analyzing the sensitivity of the transmitter placement problem under practically less-expensive computational efforts (350% and 320% less than computational time elapsed using standalone GWO and NSGAII respectively). The development of ultra-dense heterogeneous networks (HetNets) will cause a significant rise in energy consumption with large-scale base station (BS) deployments, requiring cellular networks to be more energy efficient to reduce operational expense and promote sustainability. Cell switching is an effective method to achieve the energy efficiency goals, but traditional heuristic cell switching algorithms are computationally demanding with limited generalization abilities for ultra-dense HetNet applications, motivating the usage of machine learning techniques for adaptive cell switching. Graph neural networks (GNNs) are powerful deep learning models with strong generalization abilities but receive little attention for cell switching. This paper proposes a GNN-based cell switching solution (GBCSS) that has a smaller computational complexity than existing heuristic algorithms. The presented performance evaluation uses the Milan telecommunication dataset based on real-world call detail records, comparing GBCSS with a traditional exhaustive search (ES) algorithm, a state-of-the-art learning-based algorithm, and the baseline without cell switching. Results indicate that GBCSS achieves a 10.41% energy efficiency gain when compared with the baseline and achieves 75.76% of the optimal performance obtained with ES algorithm. The results also demonstrate GBCSS' significant scalability and generalization abilities to differing load conditions and the number of BSs, suggesting this approach is well-suited to ultra-dense HetNet deployment. Today, with the increasing penetration of microgrids, the degree of complexity and non-linearity of power systems has increased, causing conventional and inflexible controllers not to perform well in a wide range of operating points. In this paper, a self-tuning proportional-integral (PI)-controller based on a soft computation of a combination of genetic algorithm (GA) and artificial neural network (ANN). The GA-ANN is used to control the frequency of a microgrid in an island mode to automatically adjust and optimize the coefficients of a PI-controller. The proposed PI-controller is located in the frequency control secondary loop of an island microgrid. Since the ANN is a local search algorithm and can be located in local minimum points and on the other hand improving its performance requires a lot of training data. The ANN parameters are optimized using the GA algorithm's proposed controller. Train ANN online to adapt to the system and change the PI-control coefficients without a lot of training data, in addition to avoiding being in the local minimum points.The microgrid tested included various distributed generation units including battery energy storage that tried to create a more realistic frequency response for the microgrid by considering nonlinear factors on the model of these resources. Air pollution has changed ecosystem and atmosphere. It is dangerous for environment, human health, and other living creatures. This contamination is due to various industrial and chemical pollutants, which reduce air, water, and soil quality. Therefore, air quality monitoring is essential. Flying ad hoc networks (FANETs) are an effective solution for intelligent air quality monitoring and evaluation. A FANET-based air quality monitoring system uses unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to measure air pollutants. Therefore, these systems have particular features, such as the movement of UAVs in three-dimensional area, high dynamism, quick topological changes, constrained resources, and low density of UAVs in the network. Therefore, the routing issue is a fundamental challenge in these systems. In this paper, we introduce a Q-learning-based routing method called QFAN for intelligent air quality monitoring systems. The proposed method consists of two parts: route discovery and route maintenance. In the part one, a Q-learning-based route discovery mechanism is designed. Also, we propose a filtering parameter to filter some UAVs in the network and restrict the search space. In the route maintenance phase, QFAN seeks to detect and correct the paths near to breakdown. Moreover, QFAN can quickly identify and replace the failed paths. Finally, QFAN is simulated using NS2 to assess its performance. The simulation results show that QFAN surpasses other routing approaches with regard to end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio, energy consumption, and network lifetime. This paper proposes an algorithm for missile manoeuvring based on a hierarchical proximal policy optimization (PPO) reinforcement learning algorithm, which enables a missile to guide to a target and evade an interceptor at the same time. Based on the idea of task hierarchy, the agent has a two-layer structure, in which low-level agents control basic actions and are controlled by a high-level agent. The low level has two agents called a guidance agent and an evasion agent, which are trained in simple scenarios and embedded in the high-level agent. The high level has a policy selector agent, which chooses one of the low-level agents to activate at each decision moment. The reward functions for each agent are different, considering the guidance accuracy, flight time, and energy consumption metrics, as well as a field-of-view constraint. Simulation shows that the PPO algorithm without a hierarchical structure cannot complete the task, while the hierarchical PPO algorithm has a 100% success rate on a test dataset. The agent shows good adaptability and strong robustness to the second-order lag of autopilot and measurement noises. Compared with a traditional guidance law, the reinforcement learning guidance law has satisfactory guidance accuracy and significant advantages in average time and average energy consumption. Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have shown remarkable progress with the rapid increase in power conversion efficiency to reach 25.7% over the last few years. However, it is difficult to precisely determine the energy conversion efficiency for PSC, because of anomalous current density-voltage (J–V) hysteresis. Normal J–V hysteresis has been reported in many papers, where the backward scan performance is higher than the forward scan one. In this work, using Drift–Diffusion Modeling, normal hysteretic behavior associated with ion migration with different scanning rates, pre-bias voltages, and charge-carrier mobility is studied. In addition, the inverted J–V hysteresis by modification of the simulation model, where anions and cations flux towards the transport layers and are accumulated simultaneously on both sides, is achieved. It is also found that the flux parameter values (gae and gch) play a critical role in the reduction of inverted hysteresis and the efficiency enhancement. It is suggested from the current studies that perovskite interfaces encapsulation, which prevents ions migration, could be of great importance for achieving hysteresis-free PSCs and reliable device characteristics. Many quadrupeds are capable of power efficient gaits, especially trot and gallop, thanks to their flexible trunk. The oscillations of the system that includes the backbone, the tendons and musculature, store and release elastic energy, helping a smooth deceleration and a fast acceleration of the hindquarters and forequarters, which improves the dynamics of running and its energy efficiency. Forelegs and hindlegs play a key role in generating the bending moment in the trunk. In this paper we present our studies aimed at modeling and reproducing such phenomena for efficient quadrupedal robot locomotion. We propose a model, called mass-mass-spring model, that overcomes the limitation of existing models, and demonstrate that it allows studying how the masses of the legs generate a flexing force that helps the natural bending of the trunk during gallop. Aiming at solving the effective data delivery and energy hole problem in multi-hop cognitive radio sensor networks (CRSNs), a weighted energy consumption minimization-based uneven clustering (ECMUC) routing protocol is proposed in this paper. For the first time, the impact of control overhead on the network performance is taken into consideration, to be specific, the energy consumption of control overhead is integrated with that of data communication to model the network energy consumption. Through effective transformation and theoretical analysis, cluster radius of each ring is derived by minimizing the network energy consumption and balancing the residual energy among nodes in different rings. Distributed cluster heads (CHs) selection and cluster formation are carried out within this range to control the cluster size and the corresponding energy cost. Expected times for being CHs metric is defined to measure nodes' energy and spectral potential and help select powerful CHs. Simulation results show that ECMUC protocol is superior to most clustering protocols designed for CRSNs in terms of network surveillance capability and network lifetime, and it is also demonstrated that taking control overhead into consideration is beneficial for improving the network performance. The paper outlines the concepts and design of an upcoming stand-alone solar photovoltaic system to supply the energy needs of a new proposed business complex. The purpose of this study is to develop a prediction method for the use of solar energy for commercial purposes. Firstly, the annual energy demand for the illumination and utilities in a business complex is calculated. LED lights are considered in the complex for the illumination to minimize the cost of energy. Based on the load estimation, the number of solar panels are predicted as 6097, to generate the power for the proposed area. Secondly, the important part of the design in the estimation of solar radiation and optimal tilt angle of a photovoltaic panel has been calculated for the maximum energy harvest. In this case the optimal tilt angle is 49.34°. The installation of PV panels for optimal and feasible operation is also predicted. The calculated parameters are used in a simulation with a software to test their practicality in the business complex. The technique is used to determine the amount of energy produced and system's performance ratio. A cost estimate is also provided for the solar PV system. In order to expand the output of solar power systems for efficient integration into the national grid, solar energy resource assessment at site is required. A major impediment however, is the widespread scarcity of radiometric measurements, which can be augmented by satellite observation. This paper assessed the suitability of satellite-based solar radiation resource retrieved from the NASA-POWER archives at 0. 5 ∘ × 0. 5 ∘ spatial resolution over Ghana–West Africa, to develop a long-term source reference. The assessment is based on the criteria of comparison with estimations from sunshine duration measurement for 22 synoptic stations. Overall, the satellite-based data compared well with ground-based estimations by r = 0.6–0.94 ± 0.1. Spatiotemporally, the agreement is strongest over the northern half Savannah-type climate during March–May, and weakest over the southern half Forest-type climate during June–August. Hydrogen produced by electrolysis using electricity derived from renewable energy sources has a fluctuating supply. However, conventional catalyst evaluation methods cannot evaluate catalyst synthesis assuming a fluctuating feedstock. This paper investigates a simple screening method for catalysts that can be used for renewable energy by using a combination of three catalyst evaluation methods: Light-off Performance, equilibrium achievement degree, and maximum ammonia concentration. We examined the combination of evaluation methods and trends for each element, and finally concluded that a three-axis graph combining the three is the easiest graph to obtain the information necessary for catalyst screening intuitively rather than quantitatively. Increasing of energy consumption, depletion of petroleum fuels and harmful emissions have triggered the interest to find substitute fuels for diesel engines. Palm ethyl ester was synthesized from palm oil through transesterification process. The physicochemical properties of palm biodiesel have been measured and confirmed in accordance with ASTM standards. The aim of the paper is to show the effect of different diesel-palm biodiesel blends on performance, combustion and emissions in diesel engine at engine load variation. Artificial Neural Network was used for the prediction of engine performance, exhaust emission and combustion characteristics parameters. Palm ethyl ester and diesel oil were blended in 5, 10, 15 and 20 by volume percentage. The maximum decreases in thermal efficiency, fuel–air equivalence ratio for B20 were 1.5, 3.5, 6 and 8% but the maximum increases in BSFC, exhaust gas temperature and NOx emission for B20 at full load about diesel fuel were 9, 8 and 10%, respectively. The highest decreases in CO, HC and smoke emissions of B20 about diesel oil at full load were 2, 35 and 18.5% at full load, respectively. Biodiesel blend B20 achieved the maximum declines in peak HRR, cylinder temperature and combustion duration about diesel fuel. The results of ANN were compared with experimental results and showed that ANN is effective modeling method with high accuracy. This can simulate the effect of a single or combined intervention on a particular floor or an event on the remaining floors. In this paper, an example has been developed based on ANN. The results show a reasonable correlation between the real data of the Operative Temperature with the Energy Consumption and their estimates obtained through an ANN model, trained using an hourly basis, on each of the floors of an office building. This model confirms it is possible to obtain simulations in existing public buildings with an acceptable degree of precision and without laborious modelling, which would make it easier to achieve the nZEB target, especially in existing public office buildings. In this study, a diagnosis method was successfully implemented to identify different sounds coming from individual mechanical parts within a group of engine moving parts controlled through a variable valve timing system. The novelty of this diagnosis method is in the determination of specific sounds coming from each part within this group when they are in good working condition and without any defects. This will facilitate in early detection of faults occurring on the parts, identified through changes in the sound wave energy. Through this study, this diagnosis method was validated in three ways, namely the consistency of the results with previous studies, the synchronization of sounds from mechanical parts in overlapping cases, and the cross-correlation of engine sound modes that results from analysis using the Hilbert Huang Transform. In this paper, the distribution of sound energy according to its frequencies was utilized to distinguish which of the engine combustion chambers of a Dodge Journey 2.4 was faulty. To conduct that, the noise-based test technique was selected to record the engine sound. The results show that there is a link between the RMS energy of the engine sound and the engine output torque.
