Reservoir computing is a temporal information processing system that exploits artificial or physical dissipative dynamics to learn a dynamical system and generate the target time-series. This paper proposes the use of real superconducting quantum computing devices as the reservoir, where the dissipative property is served by the natural noise added to the quantum bits. The performance of this natural quantum reservoir is demonstrated in a benchmark time-series regression problem and a practical problem classifying different objects based on temporal sensor data. In both cases the proposed reservoir computer shows a higher performance than a linear regression or classification model. The results indicate that a noisy quantum device potentially functions as a reservoir computer, and notably, the quantum noise, which is undesirable in the conventional quantum computation, can be used as a rich computation resource. Podocyte abnormalities are common mechanism driving the progression of glomerular diseases, which account for most chronic kidney diseases (CKDs). However, the role of podocyte in the mechanism of high-risk long-term CKD caused by prematurity has not been well clarified. In present study, urine samples of 86 preterm infants and 32 full-term infants were collected, and podocyte-specific podocin mRNA levels in urine pellet were applied to indicate urinary podocyte mRNA excretion. In addition, in a preterm animal rat model, preterm rats were identified by delivery 2 days early. From the age of 3 weeks–12 months, urine samples were collected to examine podocyte mRNA excretion by measuring podocyte-specific podocin mRNA levels. Kidney samples at the age of 3 weeks, 2 months, and 12 months were collected from 8, 5 and 6 preterm rats and 9, 6 and 8 full-term rats, respectively, to examine podocyte density and podocyte area by measuring the podocyte specific nuclear marker WT-1 and the podocyte specific marker synaptopodin. As results, a more than threefold increase of urinary podocyte-specific podocin mRNA excretion rate was found in preterm infants compared with full-term infants. In addition, there was negative correlation between gestational age at birth and urinary podocin mRNA excretion. In preterm rats, a reduction in the total number of differentiated podocytes in glomeruli and an increased podocyte podocin mRNA excretion rate in urine were detected at the end of kidney differentiation. Moreover, long-term follow-up data in preterm rats showed there was an increased the risk of renal disease indicated by persistent podocyte mRNA loss, proteinuria, and enlarged glomeruli. In conclusion, increasing podocyte mRNA excretion in urine and podocyte loss in kidney led by prematurity drive the progression of long-term abnormal kidney function and could potentially explain the high risk of long-term CKD in preterm infants. Turnip (Brassica rapa L.) is widely consumed as a vegetable and traditional Chinese medicine with high dietary fiber content. Soluble dietary fiber (SDF) and insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) were obtained from white turnips, and the IDF was modified with alkaline hydrogen peroxide to obtain modified IDF (MIDF) and modified SDF (MSDF). The compositional, structural, and functional properties of the four samples were investigated. After modification, the modified dietary fibers (MDFs) showed smaller particle sizes and lower contents of pectin and polyphenol than those of unmodified dietary fibers (DFs) The results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transformed infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed that compared to the DFs, the MDFs were smaller and had more exposed hydroxyl groups. Analysis of the microrheological behaviors showed that the MDFs had higher viscosity than that of the DFs, with a looser structure for the MSDF and a stable structure for the MIDF. Therefore, due to structural changes, the physical and functional properties of the MDFs were improved compared to those of the unmodified DFs. Pearson correlation analysis showed that the particle size was positively correlated with the pectin content. The water holding capacity (WHC), oil adsorption capacity (OAC) and water swelling capacity (WSC) showed positive correlations with each other. Primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS) is a chronic, systemic autoimmune disease mostly affecting the exocrine glands. This debilitating condition is complex and specific treatments remain unavailable. There is a need for the development of novel diagnostic models for early screening. Four gene profiling datasets were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus database. The 'limma' software package was used to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs). A random forest-supervised classification algorithm was used to screen disease-specific genes, and three machine learning algorithms, including artificial neural networks (ANN), random forest (RF), and support vector machines (SVM), were used to build a pSS diagnostic model. The performance of the model was measured using its area under the receiver operating characteristic curve. Immune cell infiltration was investigated using the CIBERSORT algorithm. A total of 96 DEGs were identified. By utilizing a RF classifier, a set of 14 signature genes that are pivotal in transcription regulation and disease progression in pSS were identified. Through the utilization of training and testing datasets, diagnostic models for pSS were successfully designed using ANN, RF, and SVM, resulting in AUCs of 0.972, 1.00, and 0.9742, respectively. The validation set yielded AUCs of 0.766, 0.8321, and 0.8223. It was the RF model that produced the best prediction performance out of the three models tested. As a result, an early predictive model for pSS was successfully developed with high diagnostic performance, providing a valuable resource for the screening and early diagnosis of pSS. The use of bast fiber film can improve rice seedling quality, and nano-silicon fertilizer can increase rice yields. This study aimed to compare the effects of using bast fiber film, nano-silicon fertilizer, and both treatments on rice yield and lodging resistance. A 2-year field experiment was conducted in 2017 and 2018, in Liaoning, China. The experiment comprised a control (no-bast fiber film, no nano-silicon fertilizer; CK), and three treatments: seedlings cultivated with bast film (FM), single nano-silicon fertilization (SF), and bast fiber film seedlings + nano-silicon fertilization (FM + SF). The japonica rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivar Liaojing 371 was used. Compared with the plants in CK, those in the FM treatment showed greater average root diameter, root volume and root dry weight. The SF treatment increased the single stem flexural strength, increased the contents of silicon, lignin, and cellulose in the rice plant stalk, and reduced the lodging index, thereby increasing lodging resistance. The SF treatment resulted in increased leaf chlorophyll content at late growth stage and a higher net photosynthetic rate, which increased plant dry matter accumulation. In the FM + SF treatment, plant growth was enhanced during the whole growth period, which resulted in an increased number of effective panicles and an increased grain yield. The results show that the combination of FM and SF synergistically improves rice lodging resistance and grain yield. The alveolar echinococcosis of human is a severe helminthic disease caused by the larva of Echinococcus multilocularis tapeworms. Novel compounds or therapy strategies for the treatment of alveolar echinococcosis are urgently needed due to the limitation of the widely used albendazole. Magnetic microspheres as drug carriers in magnetically targeted therapy of tumor have gained growing interests advantaged by delivering the drug to the aimed site, achieving localized therapeutic effect effectively under the influence of an external magnetic field. In this study, we formulated magnetic microspheres loaded with E2-a (PLGA-Fe-E2-a) and identified the activity in E. multilocularis-infected mice which infected with 3,000 protoscoleces intraperitoneally. Compared with the untreated control, with the help of a magnet, there was a significant reduction in parasite burden with PLGA-Fe-E2-a treatment and similar reduction observed with albendazole. PLGA-Fe-E2-a treatment group also showed a significant increase in the IFN-γ level and impaired morphological and ultrastructural alterations. Most importantly, one-third concentrations of E2-a from PLGA-Fe-E2 based on the release profile of E2-a was equally effective in inhibiting metacestode growth as E2-a treated group, supporting efficacy and bioavailability of a drug. This study explored the effect of 70-mT magnetic field on wastewater treatment capacity for activated sludge in long-term laboratory-scale experiments. Metagenomic sequencing were conducted based on Illumina HiSeq 2000 platform after DNA extraction of the activated sludge. Then the effect of the magnetic field on the microbial unigene and metabolic pathways in activated sludge was investigated. As a result, higher pollutant removal was observed at 70 mT, with which the elimination of total nitrogen (TN) was the most effective. Functional genes annotated based on eggNOG database showed that unigenes related to information storage and processing were enhanced by the magnetic field. For CAZy classification, category such as glycosyl transferases was more abundant in the reactor with magnetic field, which has been shown to promote the entire energy supply pathway. Additionally, in the KEGG categories, unigenes related to signaling molecules and interaction were significantly inhibited. Through the enrichment analysis of the nitrogen metabolism pathway, the magnetic field inhibited anabolic nitrate reduction by significantly inhibiting enzymes such as [EC:1.7.7.2], [EC:1.7.7.1], [EC:3.5.5.1], [EC:1.4.1.2] and [EC:4.2.1.1], which are related to the improvement of the denitrification ability. We present a multi-instrument experiment to study the effects of tropospheric thunderstorms on the mesopause region and the lower ionosphere. Sodium (Na) lidar and ionospheric observations by two digital ionospheric sounders are used to study the variation in the neutral metal atoms and metallic ions above thunderstorms. An enhanced ionospheric sporadic E layer with a downward tidal phase is observed followed by a subsequent intensification of neutral Na number density with an increase of 600 cm−3 in the mesosphere. In addition, the Na neutral chemistry and ion-molecule chemistry are considered in a Na chemistry model to simulate the dynamical and chemical coupling processes in the mesosphere and ionosphere above thunderstorms. The enhanced Na layer in the simulation obtained by using the ionospheric observation as input is in agreement with the Na lidar observation. We find that the intensification of metallic layered phenomena above thunderstorms is associated with the atmospheric tides, as a result of the troposphere-mesosphere-ionosphere coupling.
