Urban land use ecological efficiency is crucial to the urbanization process and urban ecosystem sustainability. Cities in ecologically sensitive zones with frequent natural disasters need more complex land use patterns and plans. Achieving the goal of harmonizing economy and ecosystem is key for sustainable development policy makers in these cities. Aiming to explore the urban land use ecological efficiency (LUEE) of ecologically sensitive areas, urban land use ecological efficiency index system of the Loess Plateau was constructed, the SBM-Tobit model was adopted to measure the LUEE and influencing factors from 2009 to 2018, and the characteristics of spatial–temporal evolution was discussed. The results indicated that there were significant spatial differences of LUEE in ecologically sensitive zone. The high-level cities of LUEE were located in the southwest areas, while low-level cities of LUEE were mostly situated in the northeast zones, and the temporal variation trend showed the characteristic of “W” curve. Additionally, the results of key factors identification demonstrated that science and technology expenditure and public transport development had positive effects on urban LUEE, while the land expansion, GDP growth, the second industry and real estate development will limit the improvement of urban LUEE. This study used the scientific evaluation index system and key factors identification method to explore the land use ecological efficiency in ecologically sensitive zones, aiming to provide a case study reference for urban land management and optimization in ecologically fragile areas. Schistosomiasis japonicum can cause different degrees of organ damage and complex human immune pathological reactions, which often invade the intestine and liver. The purpose of this study was to explore the pathological types and pathological changes of Schistosomiasis and their correlation with some digestive system tumors. Hematoxylin eosin staining was performed on the diseased tissues of 1111 Schistosomiasis cases. We counted the deposition sites of Schistosoma eggs, analyzed the pathological characteristics, and compared the clinicopathological characteristics of Schistosomiasis associated digestive system tumors and non-Schistosomiasis digestive system tumors. We found that Schistosoma japonicum can cause multi organ and multi system damage, with 469 cases of inflammation, 47 cases of adenoma, and 519 cases of adenocarcinoma. Other types include cysts, stromal tumors, malignant lymphomas, and neuroendocrine tumors. Schistosomiasis associated tumors, including gastric cancer, liver cancer, colon cancer and rectal cancer, were compared with non-Schistosomiasis tumors. There were significant differences in age, gender and tumor differentiation between the two groups. Our study shows Schistosomiasis is a systemic disease, causing multiple organ and system damage in the human body. Diabetic sensory neuropathy leads to impairment of peripheral sensory nerves and downregulation of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) in a functionally specific subset of peripheral sensory neurons mediating pain. Whether CGRP plays a neuroprotective role in peripheral sensory nerve is unclear. We evaluated alterations in noxious thermal sensation and downregulation of CGRP in the 8 weeks after induction of diabetes in rats. We supplemented capsaicin in the diet of the animals to upregulate CGRP and reversed the downregulation of the neuropeptide in the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons dissociated from the diabetic animals, via gene transfection and exogenous CGRP, to test disease-preventing and disease-limiting effects of CGRP. Significant preservation of the nociceptive sensation, CGRP in spinal cord and DRG neurons, and number of CGRP-expressing neurons was found in the diabetic animals given capsaicin. Improvement in the survival of the neurons and the outgrowth of neurites was achieved in the neurons transfected by LV-CGRP or by exogenous CGRP, paralleling the correction of abnormalities of intracellular reactive oxygen species and mitochondrial transmembrane potentials. The results suggest that downregulation of CGRP impairs viability, regeneration and function of peripheral sensory neurons while capsaicin normalizes the CGRP peptidergic DRG neurons and function of the sensory nerves. This study aimed to assess the feasibility of using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based Delta radiomics characteristics extrapolated from the Ax LAVA + C series to identify intermediary- and high-risk factors in patients with cervical cancer undergoing surgery following neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy. A total of 157 patients were divided into two groups: those without any intermediary- or high-risk factors and those with one intermediary-risk factor (negative group; n = 75). Those with any high-risk factor or more than one intermediary-risk factor (positive group; n = 82). Radiomics characteristics were extracted using Ax-LAVA + C MRI sequences. The data was divided into training (n = 126) and test (n = 31) sets in an 8:2 ratio. The training set data features were selected using the Mann–Whitney U test and the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) test. The best radiomics features were then analyzed to build a preoperative predictive radiomics model for predicting intermediary- and high-risk factors in cervical cancer. Three models—the clinical model, the radiomics model, and the combined clinic and radiomics model—were developed in this study utilizing the random forest Algorithm. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve, decision curve analysis (DCA), accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity were used to assess the predictive efficacy and clinical benefits of each model. Three models were developed in this study to predict intermediary- and high-risk variables associated with postoperative pathology for patients who underwent surgery after receiving neoadjuvant radiation. In the training and test sets, the AUC values assessed using the clinical model, radiomics model, and combined clinical and radiomics models were 0.76 and 0.70, 0.88 and 0.86, and 0.91 and 0.89, respectively. The use of machine learning algorithms to analyze Delta Ax LAVA + C MRI radiomics features can aid in the prediction of intermediary- and high-risk factors in patients with cervical cancer receiving neoadjuvant therapy. Using the CRITIC method, comprehensive index evaluation method, VAR model, coupling coordination model and other methods, this paper evaluates the comprehensive development of the population economy and eco-geological environment composite system in the twin-city economic circle of Chengdu–Chongqing region from 2000 to 2020, verifies the dynamic coupling relationship between subsystems and measures the coupling coordination degree of complex system. Meanwhile, the differences in the development process of each subsystem are discussed and the spatial–temporal evolution characteristics and laws of coupling coordination of the composite system during the research period are analyzed. The results reveal the following: (1) There is a long-term coordinated relationship between population, economy and eco-geological environment in Chengdu–Chongqing region, which have the conditions for emergence and generation. (2) The subsystems of population, economy and eco-geological environment in Chengdu–Chongqing region show an overall upward trend, among which the Sichuan part obviously outperforms the Chongqing part. Besides, the growth rate of the economy subsystem is significantly higher than that of the population, eco-geological environment subsystem. (3) The coupling coordinated development of the composite system has shown a benign upward development trend, gradually changing from "composite spiral structure" to "two cores outstanding, peripheral collapse, the west superior to the east", while the main coordination state has developed from "Basic synergy—Economic lag" in 2000 to "Basic synergy—Population lag" in 2022. Post-stroke infections are common complications in acute stroke patients and are associated with an unfavorable functional outcome. However, reports on the effects of prophylactic antibiotics treatment on post-stroke infections are conflicting, especially those on post-stroke pneumonia and outcomes. We searched the PubMed, Embase, and Web of Knowledge databases up through March 11th, 2016. Seven randomized controlled trials including 4261 patients were analyzed among this systematic review and meta-analysis. We found preventive antibiotics treatment at the time of stroke onset did reduce the incidence of infections in adults with acute stroke (OR = 0.57, 95% CI: 0.38-0.85, P = 0.005), including reducing the number of urinary tract infections (OR = 0.34, 95% CI: 0.26-0.46, P < 0.001), but did not significantly decrease the rate of post-stroke pneumonia (OR = 0.91, 95% CI: 0.73-1.13, P = 0.385). Importantly, antibiotics treatment also showed no significant effect on the number of fatalities among stroke patients (OR = 1.07, 95% CI: 0.90-1.26, P = 0.743) and functional outcome scores on the modified Rankin Scale (OR = 1.76, 95% CI: 0.86-3.63, p = 0.124). Our study indicated that preventive antibiotics treatment not reduced the rate of post-stroke pneumonia or mortality, even though decreased the risk of infections, especially urinary tract infections. Realizing compact and scalable Ising machines that are compatible with CMOS-process technology is crucial to the effectiveness and practicality of using such hardware platforms for accelerating computationally intractable problems. Besides the need for realizing compact Ising spins, the implementation of the coupling network, which describes the spin interaction, is also a potential bottleneck in the scalability of such platforms. Therefore, in this work, we propose an Ising machine platform that exploits the novel behavior of compact bi-stable CMOS-latches (cross-coupled inverters) as classical Ising spins interacting through highly scalable and CMOS-process compatible ferroelectric-HfO2-based Ferroelectric FETs (FeFETs) which act as coupling elements. We experimentally demonstrate the prototype building blocks of this system, and evaluate the scaling behavior of the system using simulations. A considerable number of studies have described the potential neural mechanism of deception, but most deception studies have relied upon deception from experimental supervisor instruction. Experimental control (participants follow instructions to deceive without any risk) means that the deception occurs in a way that does not come close to the real deception. In the current study, a neural imaging experiment on deception closer to the real deception was conducted. Event-related potential (ERP) and event-related spectral perturbation (ERSP) techniques were used to explore the neural mechanism of deception. The results showed that deceptive response evoked larger medial-frontal negativity (MFN) and smaller response-locked positivity (RLP) than truthful response. We interpret these findings to indicate that conflict detection and emotional processing are associated with deception. In addition, magnitudes of alpha and beta oscillations after the deceptive response were significantly smaller than those after the truthful response, demonstrating that deception is associated with neural oscillations reflecting conflict adjustment. The results comprehensively characterized the physiological properties of the brain oscillations elicited by a deceptive response and provided a theoretical foundation for detection in practical applications. Finding effective and objective biomarkers to inform the diagnosis of schizophrenia is of great importance yet remains challenging. Relatively little work has been conducted on multi-biological data for the diagnosis of schizophrenia. In this cross-sectional study, we extracted multiple features from three types of biological data, including gut microbiota data, blood data, and electroencephalogram data. Then, an integrated framework of machine learning consisting of five classifiers, three feature selection algorithms, and four cross validation methods was used to discriminate patients with schizophrenia from healthy controls. Our results show that the support vector machine classifier without feature selection using the input features of multi-biological data achieved the best performance, with an accuracy of 91.7% and an AUC of 96.5% (p < 0.05). These results indicate that multi-biological data showed better discriminative capacity for patients with schizophrenia than single biological data. The top 5% discriminative features selected from the optimal model include the gut microbiota features (Lactobacillus, Haemophilus, and Prevotella), the blood features (superoxide dismutase level, monocyte-lymphocyte ratio, and neutrophil count), and the electroencephalogram features (nodal local efficiency, nodal efficiency, and nodal shortest path length in the temporal and frontal-parietal brain areas). The proposed integrated framework may be helpful for understanding the pathophysiology of schizophrenia and developing biomarkers for schizophrenia using multi-biological data. Cognitive abilities are impaired by sleep deprivation and can be recovered when sufficient sleep is obtained. Changes in alpha-band oscillations are considered to be closely related to sleep deprivation. In this study, power spectrum, source localization and functional connectivity analyses were used to investigate the changes in resting-state alpha-band activity after normal sleep, sleep deprivation and recovery sleep. The results showed that the global alpha power spectrum decreased and source activation was notably reduced in the precuneus, posterior cingulate cortex, cingulate gyrus, and paracentral lobule after sleep deprivation. Functional connectivity analysis after sleep deprivation showed a weakened functional connectivity pattern in a widespread network with the precuneus and posterior cingulate cortex as the key nodes. Furthermore, the changes caused by sleep deprivation were reversed to a certain extent but not significantly after one night of sleep recovery, which may be due to inadequate time for recovery sleep. In conclusion, large-scale resting-state alpha-band activation and functional connectivity were weakened after sleep deprivation, and the inhibition of default mode network function with the precuneus and posterior cingulate cortex as the pivotal nodes may be an important cause of cognitive impairment. We reported a large Chinese family diagnosed with autosomal dominant tubulointerstitial kidney disease caused by MUC1 mutation (ADTKD-MUC1). Cytosine duplication within a string of 7 cytosines in the variable-number tandem repeats (VNTR) region of the MUC1 gene was detected by long-read single-molecule real-time (SMRT) sequencing. MUC1 frameshift protein (MUC1fs) was found to be expressed in renal tubules and urinary exfoliated cells by pathological examination. The family, which consisted of 5 generations including 137 individuals, was followed for 5 years. Genetic testing was performed in thirty-four individuals, 17 of whom carried MUC1 mutations. The ADTKD-MUC1-affected individuals had an elevated incidence of hyperuricaemia without gout attack. Within five years, higher baseline levels of urinary α1-microglobulin were detected in affected individuals with rapidly progressing renal failure than in affected individuals with stable renal function, and the increases manifested even before increases in serum creatinine. This study demonstrates that SMRT sequencing is an effective method for the identification of MUC1 mutations. The pathological examination of MUC1fs expression in renal tissue and urinary exfoliated cells can contribute to early screening of family members suspected to be affected. Staphylococcus aureus is a common pathogen in chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) patients, the pathogenesis of which involves the ability to form biofilms and produce various virulence factors. Tobacco smoke, another risk factor of CRS, facilitates S. aureus biofilm formation; however, the mechanisms involved are unclear. Here, we studied the effect of nicotine on S. aureus biofilm formation and the expression of virulence-related genes. S. aureus strains isolated from CRS patients and a USA300 strain were treated with nicotine or were untreated (control). Nicotine-treated S. aureus strains showed dose-dependent increases in biofilm formation, lower virulence, enhanced initial attachment, increased extracellular DNA release, and a higher autolysis rate, involving dysregulation of the accessory gene regulator (Agr) quorum-sensing system. Consequently, the expression of autolysis-related genes lytN and atlA, and the percentage of dead cells in biofilms was increased. However, the expression of virulence-related genes, including hla, hlb, pvl, nuc, ssp, spa, sigB, coa, and crtN was downregulated and there was reduced bacterial invasion of A549 human alveolar epithelial cells. The results of this study indicate that nicotine treatment enhances S. aureus biofilm formation by promoting initial attachment and extracellular DNA release but inhibits the virulence of this bacterium. Inactivation of p53 and/or Rb pathways restrains osteoblasts from cell-cycle exit and terminal differentiation, which underpins osteosarcoma formation coupled with dedifferentiation. Recently, the level of p-S6K was shown to independently predict the prognosis for osteosarcomas, while the reason behind this is not understood. Here we show that in certain high-grade osteosarcomas, immature SSEA-4+ tumor cells represent a subset of tumor-initiating cells (TICs) whose pool size is maintained by mTORC1 activity. mTORC1 supports not only SSEA-4+ cell self-renewal through S6K but also the regeneration of SSEA-4+ TICs by SSEA-4− osteosarcoma cell dedifferentiation. Mechanistically, active mTORC1 is required to prevent a likely upregulation of the cell-cycle inhibitor p27 independently of p53 or Rb activation, which otherwise effectively drives the terminal differentiation of SSEA-4− osteosarcoma cells at the expense of dedifferentiation. Smoking has been identified as a risk factor for atopic dermatitis and hand eczema, but less is known about the association of exposure to second-hand smoke (SHS) with hand eczema. The study aimed to investigate the association of SHS exposure with hand eczema and atopic dermatitis in a group of adolescents. We conducted a cross-sectional study among first-year college students. SHS exposure was measured by a self-administered questionnaire. Skin diseases were diagnosed by dermatologists in the field survey. Mixed models were used to estimate the associations. A total of 20,129 participants that underwent skin examination and a questionnaire survey were included in the analyses. The prevalence rates of atopic dermatitis and hand eczema were 3.86% and 3.35%, respectively. Crude and adjusted estimates consistently showed that exposure to SHS was significantly associated with atopic dermatitis and hand eczema in a dose–response manner. Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder mediated minimal or no effect of SHS on hand eczema and atopic dermatitis. Subgroup analysis by type of hand eczema, and sensitivity analysis by excluding data with center effect showed consistent results. We investigate the generalized Kuramoto model of globally coupled oscillators with inertia, in which oscillators with positive coupling strength are conformists and oscillators with negative coupling strength are contrarians. We consider the correlation between the coupling strengths of oscillators and the distributions of natural frequencies. Two different types of correlations are studied. It is shown that the model supports multistable synchronized states such as different types of travelling wave states, π state and another type of nonstationary state: an oscillating π state. The phase distribution oscillates in a confined region and the phase difference between conformists and contrarians oscillates around π periodically in the oscillating π state. The different types of travelling wave state may be characterized by the speed of travelling wave and the effective frequencies of oscillators. This study aimed to investigate the less known activation pattern of T lymphocyte populations and immune checkpoint inhibitors on immunocytes in patients with bipolar II disorder depression (BD) or major depression (MD). A total of 23 patients with BD, 22 patients with MD, and 20 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited. The blood cell count of T lymphocyte subsets and the plasma level of cytokines (IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-10, TNF-α, and IFN-γ) were selectively investigated. The expression of T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin-domain containing-3 (TIM-3), programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) and its ligands, PD-L1 and PD-L2, on T lymphocytes and monocytes, was detected. In results, blood proportion of cytotoxic T cells significantly decreased in BD patients than in either MD patients or HCs. The plasma level of IL-6 increased in patients with BD and MD. The expression of TIM-3 on cytotoxic T cells significantly increased, whereas the expression of PD-L2 on monocytes significantly decreased in patients with BD than in HCs.
