Colorectal cancer is one of the top contributors to cancer-related deaths in the United States, with over 100,000 estimated cases in 2020 and over 50,000 deaths. The most common screening technique is minimally invasive colonoscopy using either reflected white light endoscopy or narrow-band imaging. However, current imaging modalities have only moderate sensitivity and specificity for lesion detection. We have developed a novel fluorescence excitation-scanning hyperspectral imaging (HSI) approach to sample image and spectroscopic data simultaneously on microscope and endoscope platforms for enhanced diagnostic potential. Unfortunately, fluorescence excitation-scanning HSI datasets pose major challenges for data processing, interpretability, and classification due to their high dimensionality. Here, we present an end-to-end scalable Artificial Intelligence (AI) framework built for classification of excitation-scanning HSI microscopy data that provides accurate image classification and interpretability of the AI decision-making process. The developed AI framework is able to perform real-time HSI classification with different speed/classification performance trade-offs by tailoring the dimensionality of the dataset, supporting different dimensions of deep learning models, and varying the architecture of deep learning models. We have also incorporated tools to visualize the exact location of the lesion detected by the AI decision-making process and to provide heatmap-based pixel-by-pixel interpretability. In addition, our deep learning framework provides wavelength-dependent impact as a heatmap, which allows visualization of the contributions of HSI wavelength bands during the AI decision-making process. Analog hardware-based training provides a promising solution to developing state-of-the-art power-hungry artificial intelligence models. Non-volatile memory hardware such as resistive random access memory (RRAM) has the potential to provide a low power alternative. The training accuracy of analog hardware depends on RRAM switching properties including the number of discrete conductance states and conductance variability. Furthermore, the overall power consumption of the system inversely correlates with the RRAM devices conductance. To study material dependence of these properties, TaOx and HfOx RRAM devices in one-transistor one-RRAM configuration (1T1R) were fabricated using a custom 65 nm CMOS fabrication process. Analog switching performance was studied with a range of initial forming compliance current (200-500 µA) and analog switching tests with ultra-short pulse width (300 ps) was carried out. We report that by utilizing low current during electroforming and high compliance current during analog switching, a large number of RRAM conductance states can be achieved while maintaining low conductance state. While both TaOx and HfOx could be switched to more than 20 distinct states, TaOx devices exhibited 10× lower conductance, which reduces total power consumption for array-level operations. Furthermore, we adopted an analog, fully in-memory training algorithm for system-level training accuracy benchmarking and showed that implementing TaOx 1T1R cells could yield an accuracy of up to 96.4% compared to 97% for the floating-point arithmetic baseline, while implementing HfOx devices would yield a maximum accuracy of 90.5%. Direct sewage discharge could cause copious numbers of serious and irreversible harm to the environment. This study investigated the impacts of treated and raw sewage on the river ecosystem. Through our analysis, sewage carried various nutrients into the river, leading to changes in the microbial community in the river and reducing the diversity and richness of bacteria. The relative abundances of Hydrogenophaga, Thauera, Planctomyces, Zoogloea, and Pseudomonas boosted from 0.25, 0.01, 0.00, 0.05, and 0.08% to 3.33, 3.43, 0.02, 6.28, and 2.69%, before and after raw sewage discharge, respectively. The gene abundance of pathogenic bacteria significantly increased after raw sewage discharge. For instance, the gene abundance of Vibrio, Helicobacter, Tuberculosis, and Staphylococcus augmented from 4055, 3797, 13,545, 33 reads at Site-1 to 23,556, 13,163, 19,887, 734 reads at Site-2, respectively. In addition, according to the redundancy analysis (RDA), the infectious pathogens were positively related to the environmental parameters, in which COD showed the highest positive correlation with Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Additionally, river self-purification may contribute to improving water quality and reducing pathogenicity. Growth hormone receptor (GHR) and prolactin receptor (PRLR) in jawed vertebrates were thought to arise after the divergence of gnathostomes from a basal vertebrate. In this study we have identified two genes encoding putative GHR and PRLR in sea lamprey (Petromyzon marinus) and Arctic lamprey (Lethenteron camtschaticum), extant members of one of the oldest vertebrate groups, agnathans. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that lamprey GHR and PRLR cluster at the base of gnathostome GHR and PRLR clades, respectively. This indicates that distinct GHR and PRLR arose prior to the emergence of the lamprey branch of agnathans. In the sea lamprey, GHR and PRLR displayed a differential but overlapping pattern of expression; GHR had high expression in liver and heart tissues, whereas PRLR was expressed highly in the brain and moderately in osmoregulatory tissues. Branchial PRLR mRNA levels were significantly elevated by stage 5 of metamorphosis and remained elevated through stage 7, whereas levels of GHR mRNA were only elevated in the final stage (7). Branchial expression of GHR increased following seawater (SW) exposure of juveniles, but expression of PRLR was not significantly altered. The results indicate that GHR and PRLR may both participate in metamorphosis and that GHR may mediate SW acclimation.

Permian-Triassic (P-Tr) altered volcanic ashes (tuffs) are widely distributed within the P-Tr boundary successions in South China. Volcanic altered ashes from terrestrial section-Chahe (CH) and marine section-Shangsi (SS) are selected to further understand the influence of sedimentary environments and volcanic sources on diagenetic alterarion on volcanic tuffs. The zircon 206 Pb/ 238 U ages of the corresponding beds between two sections are almost synchronous. Sedimentary environment of the altered tuffs was characterized by a low pH and did not experience a hydrothermal process. The dominant clay minerals of all the tuff beds are illite-smectite (I-S) minerals, with minor chlorite and kaolinite. I-S minerals of CH (R3) are more ordered than SS (R1), suggesting that CH also shows a higher diagenetic grade and more intensive chemical weathering. Besides, the nature of the volcanism of the tuff beds studied is derived from different magma sources. The clay mineral compositions of tuffs have little relation with the types of source volcanism and the depositional environments. Instead, the degree of the mixed-layer clay minerals and the REE distribution are mainly dependent upon the sedimentary environments. Thus, the mixed-layer clay minerals ratio and their geochemical index can be used as the paleoenvironmental indicator.

Dezocine is the number one opioid painkiller prescribed and sold in China, occupying 44% of the nation's opioid analgesics market today and far ahead of the gold-standard morphine. We discovered the mechanisms underlying dezocine antihypersensitivity activity and assessed their implications to antihypersensitivity tolerance. Dezocine, given subcutaneously in spinal nerve-ligated neuropathic rats, time- and dose-dependently produced mechanical antiallodynia and thermal antihyperalgesia, significantly increased ipsilateral spinal norepinephrine and serotonin levels, and induced less antiallodynic tolerance than morphine. Its mechanical antiallodynia was partially (40% or 60%) and completely (100%) attenuated by spinal μ-opioid receptor (MOR) antagonism or norepinephrine depletion/α 2 -adrenoceptor antagonism and combined antagonism of MORs and α 2 -adenoceptors, respectively. In contrast, antagonism of spinal κ-opioid receptors (KORs) and δ-opioid receptors (DORs) or depletion of spinal serotonin did not significantly alter dezocine antiallodynia. In addition, dezocine-delayed antiallodynic tolerance was accelerated by spinal norepinephrine depletion/α 2 -adenoceptor antagonism. Thus dezocine produces antihypersensitivity activity through spinal MOR activation and norepinephrine reuptake inhibition (NRI), but apparently not through spinal KOR and DOR activation, serotonin reuptake inhibition or other mechanisms. Our findings reclassify dezocine as the first analgesic of the recently proposed MOR-NRI, and reveal its potential as an alternative to as well as concurrent use with morphine in treating pain.

Fimbriatols A-J (1-10), ten new ent-kaurane diterpenoids possessing differently highly oxidized sites, were isolated from Flickingeria fimbriata (B1.) Hawkes. The structures of these new compounds were determined by HRESI-MS, NMR, CD spectra and X-ray diffraction analysis. Compound 1 displayed moderately inhibitory ratio (48.5%) compared with the positive compound NSC-87877 (81.6%) at the concentration of 0.022 μg/mL. Compounds 7-10 possess 3, 4-seco-ent-kaurane skeleton containing a disaccharide moiety with an unusual linkage at C-2' to C-1'' instead of the common linkage at C-6' to C-1'', and this is the first report in 600 more ent-kauranes found in nature, which might be originated from ent-kaurane diterpenoids through post-modified reactions of Baeyer-Villiger oxygenation and glycosylation.
