Abstract This article conducts a comprehensive study on the activation characteristics of faults in the mine and analyzes the distribution patterns of the original rock stress field. Through quantitative research and analysis, we determine the partitioning characteristics of tectonic stress in the mine field under the dual effects of fault activation and original rock stress. The study also reveals the significant impact of different fault activation characteristics and different tectonic stress partitions on the stability of roadway surrounding rock. Using the Mohr–Coulomb strength criterion as a foundation, we investigate the mechanisms of fault activation and establish a mathematical model for fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. This model enables us to determine the strength level of fault activation in coal seam 9 of the Limin coal mine and construct a geological structure model. It has realized the transformation of fault activation degree from qualitative evaluation to quantitative evaluation. The stress state analysis software is used to draw the division of tectonic stress dangerous areas under the synergistic effect of fault activation and original rock stress. We then analyze the impact on the stability of roadway surrounding rock in these different hazardous areas. Utilizing the fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method, we take into account the impact of faults on the distribution characteristics of stress fields and the stability of roadway surrounding rock. This approach enables us to more accurately and comprehensively determine the hazardous areas of tectonic stress in the mine field under the dual effects of faults and original rock stress.

Abstract To study the characteristics of nasal airflow in the presence of nasal cycle by computational fluid dynamics. CT scan data of a healthy Chinese individual was used to construct a three-dimensional model of the nasal cavity to be used as simulation domain. A sinusoidal airflow velocity is set at the nasal cavity entrance to reproduce the breathing pattern of a healthy human. There was a significant difference in the cross-sectional area between the two sides of the nasal cavity. Particularly, the decongested side is characterized by a larger cross-section area, and consequently, by a larger volume with respect to the congested side. The airflow velocity, pressure, and nasal resistance were higher on the congested narrow side. The temperature regulation ability on the congested narrow side was stronger than that on the decongested wider side. During the nasal cycle, there are differences in the nasal cavity function between the congested and decongested sides. Therefore, when evaluating the impact of various factors on nasal cavity function, the nasal cycle should be considered.

Abstract Cell bionic culture requires the construction of cell growth microenvironments. In this paper, mechanical force and electrical stimulations are applied to the cells cultured on the surface of the piezoelectric laminated micro-beam driven by an excitation voltage. Based on the extended dielectric theory, the electromechanical microenvironment regulating model of the current piezoelectric laminated micro-beam is established. The variational principle is used to obtain the governing equations and boundary conditions. The differential quadrature method and the iterative method are used to solve two boundary value problems for cantilever beams and simply supported beams. In two cases, the mechanical force and electrical stimulations applied to the cells are analyzed in detail and the microscale effect is investigated. This study is meaningful for improving the quality of cell culture and promoting the cross-integration of mechanics and biomedicine.

Abstract Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains an incurable disease with a poor prognosis. This study aimed to explore neutrophil‑related genes (NRGs) and develop a prognostic signature for predicting the prognosis of LUAD. NRGs were obtained by intersecting modular genes identified by weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) using bulk RNA-seq data and the marker genes of neutrophils identified from single-cell RNA-sequencing(scRNA-seq) data. Univariate Cox regression, least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO), and multivariate Cox analyses were run to construct a prognostic signature, follow by delineation of risk groups, and external validation. Analyses of ESTIMAT, immune function, Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE) scores, Immune cell Proportion Score (IPS), and immune checkpoint genes between high- and low-risk groups were performed, and then analyses of drug sensitivity to screen for sensitive anticancer drugs in high-risk groups. A total of 45 candidate NRGs were identified, of which PLTP, EREG, CD68, CD69, PLAUR, and CYP27A1 were considered to be significantly associated with prognosis in LUAD and were used to construct a prognostic signature. Correlation analysis showed significant differences in the immune landscape between high- and low-risk groups. In addition, our prognostic signature was important for predicting drug sensitivity in the high-risk group. Our study screened for NRGs in LUAD and constructed a novel and effective signature, revealing the immune landscape and providing more appropriate guidance protocols in LUAD treatment.

Abstract Cuproptosis is a manner of cell death which is related to the homeostasis of copper ions in the cellular environment and is expected to open a new direction of anti-tumor therapy. However, the studies on cuproptosis and copper homeostasis in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) are still limited. In this study, we identified new cuproptosis and copper homeostasis related genes (CHRGs) which were effective in stratifying genotyping clusters with survival differences based on transcriptomic data obtained from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) further expands the screening boundary of CHRGs, and finally we established a 10-CHRGs-based prognostic signature using lasso-penalized cox regression method, which were validated in GSE30219. Comprehensive bioinformatics analysis revealed these genes are potential regulators of modulating immunotherapy efficacy, drug resistance, tumor microenvironment infiltration, and tumor mutation patterns. Lastly, the scRNA-seq datasets GSE183219 and GSE203360 offers the evidences that CHRGs signature are mainly distributed in cancer epithelial cells, real time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) also confirmed the differential expression of these genes between normal lung cell line and lung adenocarcinoma cell lines. Collectively, our findings revealed new cuproptosis and copper homeostasis related genotyping clusters and genes which may play important roles in predicting prognosis, influencing tumor microenvironment and drug efficacy in LUAD patients.

Abstract A study of the effects of drifts on the particle flow pattern and in–out divertor plasma density asymmetry for L-mode and H-mode plasmas is carried out for EAST discharges by the edge plasma transport codes SOLPS and BOUT++ . The simulation of L-mode plasmas is done by SOLPS while the simulation of H-mode plasmas is done by BOUT++ . The toroidal magnetic field direction for the simulated discharge is artificially reversed in the codes to study the effects of different drift directions on the divertor particle flow pattern and the in–out asymmetry of divertor plasma density. The divertor particle flows induced by diamagnetic and E × B drifts are found to have similar directions in the divertor region for the same discharge. The directions of the flows induced by drifts would be reversed with the reverse of toroidal magnetic field direction. The diamagnetic drift seems to have no effect on the in–out asymmetry of divertor plasma density due to its divergence-free nature. However, the E × B drift could result in a pronounced asymmetry of plasma density between the inner and outer divertor targets. The density in–out asymmetry caused by E × B drift is reversed with the reverse of E × B drift flow direction. Detailed analysis shows that the radial component of the E × B drift flow is the main cause of density asymmetry. The results from the simulation of H-mode plasmas with BOUT++ are similar to those of the L-mode plasmas with SOLPS except that the drift effects seem to be slightly larger in the H-mode plasmas compared to the L-mode plasmas.

Abstract Previous literatures have suggested the importance of inflammatory response during lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) development. This study aimed at exploring the inflammation-related genes and developing a prognostic signature for predicting the prognosis of LUAD. Survival‑associated inflammation-related genes were identified by univariate Cox regression analysis in the dataset of The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) penalized Cox regression model was used to derive a risk signature which is significantly negatively correlated with OS and divide samples into high-, medium- and low-risk group. Univariate and multivariate Cox analyses suggested that the level of risk group was an independent prognostic factor of the overall survival (OS). Time-dependent receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve indicated the AUC of 1-, 3- and 5-years of the risk signature was 0.715, 0.719, 0.699 respectively. A prognostic nomogram was constructed by integrating risk group and clinical features. The independent dataset GSE30219 of Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) was used for verification. We further explored the differences among risk groups in Gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), tumor mutation and tumor microenvironment. Furthermore, Single Sample Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (ssGSEA) and the results of Cell-type Identification By Estimating Relative Subsets Of RNA Transcripts (CIBERSORT) suggested the status of immune cell infiltration was highly associated with risk groups. We demonstrated the prediction effect of CTLA-4 and PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors in the low-risk group was better than that in the high-risk group using two methods of immune score include immunophenoscore from The Cancer Immunome Atlas (TCIA) and TIDE score from Tumor Immune Dysfunction and Exclusion (TIDE). In addition, partial targeted drugs and chemotherapy drugs for lung cancer had higher drug sensitivity in the high-risk group. Our findings provide a foundation for future research targeting inflammation-related genes to predictive prognosis and some reference significance for the selection of immunotherapy and drug regimen for lung adenocarcinoma.

Abstract Metronidazole in aqueous solution is sensitive to light and UV irradiation, leading to the formation of N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-5-methyl-l,2,4-oxadiazole-3-carboxamide. This is revealed here by liquid chromatography with tandem photo diode array detection and mass spectrometry (LC-PDA-MS) and further verified by comparison with the corresponding reference substance and proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR). However, in current compendial tests for related substances/organic impurities of metronidazole, the above photolytic degradant could not be detected. Thus, when photodegradation of metronidazole occurs, it could not be demonstrated. In our study, an improved LC method was developed and validated, which includes a detection at a wavelength of 230 nm and optimization of mobile phase composition thereby a better separation was obtained.

Abstract Current researches on the mechanical properties of concrete are mainly concentrated on the aggressiveness of sulfate, chloride ion, acid and freeze–thaw cycles. However, the evolution of concrete mechanical properties aggressived by landfill leachate remains to be revealed. As the micro-nano indentation test is a new method to measure the fine/micro mechanical behavior of materials, it is used in this research to evaluate the micro-mechanics of the landfill leachate of the concrete sample surface and different aggressived depths. In addition, the evolution of the macro-mechanical properties of concrete aggressived by the landfill leachate was studied through uniaxial compression tests. The results show that the hydration products with high elastic modulus are consumed by the aggressiveness of landfill leachate, which results in a large number of microscopic cracks on the surface of the concrete. Moreover, the longer the aggressive time, the shallower the aggressive depth, and the more severe the deterioration of the micromechanical properties of the sample surface. It is also notable that the uniaxial compressive strength of the concrete samples aggressived by landfill leachate showed a linear increase and then gradually decrease. Comparing with the sodium chloride and sodium sulfate solutions, the landfill leachate has the most significant weakening effect on the elastic modulus of concrete.

Abstract A new serine carboxypeptidase gene, capA, was identified in Aspergillus niger CBS 513.88 by reading genomic information and performing sequence alignment, and the gene was cloned and expressed in Pichia pastoris GS115. In a shake flask, the enzyme activity of the recombinant strain GS115 (pPIC9K-capA) reached 209.3 U mg−1. The optimal temperature and pH for enzyme activity were determined to be 45 °C and 6.0, respectively. After incubation at 40–50 °C or at pH 4.0–8.0 for 1 h, the enzyme retained more than 80% or 60% of its initial activity. The presence of 1–10 mmol L−1 Mg2+ enhanced the activity of CapA, whereas 1–10 mmol L−1 Cu2+, Fe2+, or Co2+, 10 mmol L−1 Mn2+, or 1–10 mmol L−1 phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride (PMSF) significantly inhibited its activity. CapA had a broad substrate specificity and preferred the hydrophobic amino acids Leu and Lys at the C terminus of proteins, and N-benzyloxycarbonyl-l-phenylalanyl-l-leucine (Cbz-Phe-Leu) was the optimal substrate, for which CapA exhibited K m 0.063 mmol L−1 and k cat /K m 186.35 mmol L−1 s−1. The good thermostability, pH stability and hydrolysis characteristics of CapA provide a solid foundation for application in the food and biotechnology fields.

Abstract Present article reads three dimensional flow analysis of incompressible viscous hybrid nanofluid in a rotating frame. Ethylene glycol is used as a base liquid while nanoparticles are of copper and silver. Fluid is bounded between two parallel surfaces in which the lower surface stretches linearly. Fluid is conducting hence uniform magnetic field is applied. Effects of non-linear thermal radiation, Joule heating and viscous dissipation are entertained. Interesting quantities namely surface drag force and Nusselt number are discussed. Rate of entropy generation is examined. Bvp4c numerical scheme is used for the solution of transformed O.D.Es. Results regarding various flow parameters are obtained via bvp4c technique in MATLAB Software version 2019, and displayed through different plots. Our obtained results presents that velocity field decreases with respect to higher values of magnetic parameter, Reynolds number and rotation parameter. It is also observed that the temperature field boots subject to radiation parameter. Results are compared with Ishak et al. (Nonlinear Anal R World Appl 10:2909–2913, 2009) and found very good agreement with them. This agreement shows that the results are 99.99% match with each other.

Abstract Total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) is a rare congenital cardiac malformation, and prenatal detection of TAPVC malformation remains a challenging. TAPVC can be easily missed or misdiagnosed in prenatal examinations. This study was aimed to use the modified vascular corrosion casting technique to prepare fetal cardiovascular casts with TAPVC and investigate the utility of cardiovascular casting for the demonstration of fetal TAPVC. The retrospective study enrolled twenty fetuses (22 to 29 + 4 gestational weeks) with TAPVC diagnosed by prenatal echocardiography and casting technique from May 2015 to May 2020. Pre- and postnatal medical records, including results obtained by prenatal ultrasound, postpartum computed tomography angiography, as well as anatomic and cardiovascular casting findings were carefully reviewed and analyzed. In twenty cases, 80% (16/20) had intra- or extracardiac malformations. The TAPVC types were supracardiac (n = 8), cardiac (n = 6), infracardiac (n = 4), and mixed (n = 2). The diagnosis of 1 case each of supracardiac and cardiac TAPVC was modified to partial anomalous pulmonary venous connection; additionally, 4 malformations were missed and 2 were misdiagnosed, including an anomalous left brachiocephalic vein in supracardiac TAPVC, abnormal inflow of the hepatic vein and a double inferior vena cava in infracardiac TAPVC; and bilateral ductus arteriosus in infracardiac TAPVC; a tetralogy of Fallot in cardiac TAPVC that was corrected to right ventricular double outlet; and an absence of ductus arteriosus that was misdiagnosed as slim ductus arteriosus. Comparing with ultrasound, casting technique has its own superiority in exhibiting TAPVC abnormalities, especially in certain types such as course, origin and absence abnormalities of ductus. Postpartum cardiovascular casts can accurately depict the branch structure of the heart’s larger vessels, and may be used as a clinical assessment and teaching method in complex cardiac malformations.

Abstract In lime concretion black soil, a two-factor (tillage and irrigation) split block experiment from 2015 to 2017 was conducted to identify whether their combination is suitable for the improvement of winter wheat yield and water use efficiency. The main treatments were subsoiling (SS) and rotary tillage (RT), with secondary treatments of three irrigation regimes: no irrigation during the whole growth period (W0), irrigation at jointing stage (W1), and irrigation at both jointing and anthesis stages (W2). In combination with a soil column experiment, the contribution of the root system in different soil layers to yield was clarified. The results indicated that both tillage and irrigation significantly influenced the spatiotemporal distributions of the root systems and yield components, while tillage produced the strongest effect. Compared with RT, SS significantly promoted the root penetration and delayed root senescence in deep soil layers. With increasing soil depth, each root configuration parameter (dry root weight density, DRWD; root length density, RLD; root surface area per unit area, RSA; root volume per unit area, RV) gradually decreased, and the peak appearance times of each root parameter in RT and three parameters (RLD, RSA and RV) in SS were postponed from heading to anthesis and from anthesis to filling stage, respectively. The average post-peak attenuation values at soil layers from 60 to 100 cm in W1 were less than those in W0 and W2. SSW1 generated the highest grain yields, with an average increase of 31.88% compared with the yield in RTW0. Root systems at three soil layers (0–40 cm, 40–80 cm and below 80 cm) differentially contributed to grain yields with 78.32%, 12.09% and 9.59%, respectively. The growth peak of the deep root system in SSW1 was postponed to the filling stage, and the post-peak attenuation declining rates were also slowed. Therefore, SSW1 is an effective cultivation method improving grain yields and water use efficiency in lime concretion black soil.

Abstract Curative resection is recommended for patient with early stage hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), however, the prognosis is limited by high recurrence rate. This study was to investigate liver stiffness (LS) and metabolic factor in prediction of HCC recurrence for patients with early stage HCC who had undergone curative resection. Consecutive patients with suspicion of HCC who had undergone curative resection were prospectively enrolled. Transient elastography was performed to determine LS pre-operatively. The demographics, clinical characteristics and histological findings were recorded. All patients were followed up regularly until recurrence, death or last visit. Ninety-four patients with early stage HCC were enrolled. LS positively correlated with fibrosis stage (r = 0.666). In a median follow-up of 3.2 years, forty patients developed recurrences including 22 recurrences after 1-year post resection. The 5-year cumulative recurrence rate was 44.2%. LS was the independent factor associated with recurrence. Patients with LS > 8.5 kPa had higher 5-year cumulative recurrence rate (59.8% vs 25.1%, p = 0.007). For the prediction of recurrence after 1-year post resection, LS > 8.5 kPa (hazard ratio 2.72) and homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) (hazard ratio 1.24) were independent factors in multivariate analysis. Those patients with both LS > 8.5 kPa and HOMA-IR > 2.3 had the highest recurrence rate after 1-year post resection.

Abstract The association between dietary fat intake during pregnancy and the risk of developing preeclampsia has been examined in many epidemiological studies, but the results remain inconsistent. The aim of this study was to clarify this association in pregnant Chinese women. After conducting 1:1 matching, 440 pairs consisting of pregnant women with preeclampsia and hospital-based, healthy pregnant women matched by gestational week (± 1 week) and age (± 3 years) were recruited. A 79-item semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire administered during face-to-face interviews was used to estimate the participants’ dietary intake of fatty acids. We found that the intakes of arachidonic acid (AA), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) were inversely associated with the risk of developing preeclampsia. Compared with the lowest quartile intake, the multivariate-adjusted odds ratios (95% confidence interval) of the highest quartile intake were 0.42 (0.26–0.68, p-trend

Abstract Working memory (WM) is a fundamental cognitive function that typically declines with age. Previous studies have shown that targeted WM training has the potential to improve WM performance in older adults. In the present study, we investigated whether a multi-domain cognitive training program that was not designed to specifically target WM could improve the behavioral performance and affect the neural activity during WM retrieval in healthy older adults. We assigned healthy older participants (70–78 years old) from a local community into a training group who completed a 3-month multi-domain cognitive training and a control group who only attended health education lectures during the same period. Behavioral and electroencephalography (EEG) data were recorded from participants while performing an untrained delayed match or non-match to category task and a control task at a pre-training baseline session and a post-training follow-up session. Behaviorally, we found that participants in the training group showed a trend toward greater WM performance gains than participants in the control group. Event-related potential (ERP) results suggest that the task-related modulation of P3 during WM retrieval was significantly enhanced at the follow-up session compared with the baseline session, and importantly, this enhancement of P3 modulation was only significant in the training group. Furthermore, no training-related effects were observed for the P2 or N2 component during WM retrieval. These results suggest that the multi-domain cognitive training program that was not designed to specifically target WM is a promising approach to improve WM performance in older adults, and that training-related gains in performance are likely mediated by an enhanced modulation of P3 which might reflect the process of WM updating.

Chronic renal failure (CRF) is a major public health problem worldwide. Earlier studies have revealed salutary effects of rhubarb extracts in CRF. In this study, we employed lipidomic and metabolomic approaches to identify the plasma biomarkers and to determine the effect of treatment with petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and n-butanol extracts of rhubarb in a rat model of CRF with adenine-induced chronic tubulointerstitial nephropathy. In addition, clinical biochemistry, histological evaluation and pro-fibrotic protein expression were analyzed. Significant changes were found between the CRF and control groups representing characteristic phenotypes of rats with CRF. Treatment with the three rhubarb extracts improved renal injury and dysfunction, either fully or partially reversed the plasma metabolites abnormalities and attenuated upregulation of pro-fibrotic proteins including TGF-β1, α-SMA, PAI-1, CTGF, FN and collagen-1. The nephroprotective effect of ethyl acetate extract was better than other extracts. The differential metabolites were closely associated with glycerophospholipid, fatty acid and amino acid metabolisms. The results revealed a strong link between renal tubulointerstitial fibrosis and glycerophospholipid metabolism and L-carnitine metabolism in the development of CRF. Amelioration of CRF with the three rhubarb extracts was associated with the delayed development and/or reversal the disorders in key metabolites associated with adenine-induced CRF.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a major public health problem worldwide. Rhubarb has been shown to have nephroprotective and anti-fibrotic activities in patients with CKD. However, bioactive fractions and biochemical mechanism of anti-fibrotic properties of rhubarb remain unclear. Here we applied ultra-performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry together with univariate and multivariate statistical analyses to investigate the urinary metabolite profile in rats with adenine-induced CKD treated with the petroleum ether (PE)-, ethyl acetate (EA)- and n-butanol (BU)- extracts of rhubarb. Significant differences in renal function, kidney histopathology as well as metabolic profiles were observed between CKD and control rats. Changes in these parameters reflected characteristic phenotypes of CKD rats. We further identified a series of differential urinary metabolites for CKD rats, suggesting metabolic dysfunction in pathway of amino acid, purine, taurine, and choline metabolisms. Treatment with EA, BU and PE extracts of rhubarb improved renal function and histopathological abnormalities including interstitial fibrosis and inflammation, and either fully or partially reversed the abnormalities of the urinary metabolites. Among them, the nephroprotective effect of EA extract was stronger than BU and PE extracts. This work provides important mechanistic insights into the CKD and nephroprotective effects of different rhubarb extract against tubulo-interstitial fibrosis.

Abstract Cognitive training has been shown effective in improving the cognitive function of older adults. While training related plasticity of the brain has been observed at different levels, it is still open to exploration whether local functional connectivity (FC) may be affected by training. Here, we examined the neuroimaging data from a previous randomized-controlled double-blinded behavioural study, in which healthy older adults participated in a 3-month cognitive training program. Resting-state fMRI was acquired at baseline and one year after training. The local FC in the brain was estimated using the regional homogeneity (ReHo), and the high ReHo clusters (HRCs) were extracted to quantify the level of local FC integration. Results showed that: (i) HRCs exhibited a power-law size distribution; (ii) local FC were less integrated in older participants than in younger participants; (iii) local FC in older participants of the training group became more integrated after training than the control group; (iv) the baseline local FC integration was positively correlated with educational level. These results indicated a training-related alteration in local FC.

Abstract Wheat yield components vary between different ecological regions and yield levels. Grain number responses to pre-anthesis dry matter (DM) and nitrogen (N) in increasing yield were always investigated in spike organs, neglecting the effect of non-spike organ nutrition or overall distribution. This paper determined the relationships between grain number and pre-anthesis DM and N in spike and non-spike organs under different yield levels, with using two sorts of field experiments (different water-nitrogen modes and cultivation management patterns) from 2012–2015 in Huang-Huai plain. The results indicated that improving yield under yield of 7500 kg ha−1 mainly depends on GNs. GNs showed significant positive relationships with above-ground DM accumulation from jointing to anthesis under high or low yield levels. Rapid DM growth in spring achieves higher GNs. Spike and non-spike DM and N contents both demonstrated strong positive relationships with GNs, spike DM distribution also shows a positive correlation, but spike N distribution ratio show negatively correlation with GNs. Improved N distribution in non-spike organs and DM partition in spike organs conduce to increasing GNs.

Abstract Two new cyclopentapeptides, xylapeptide A (1) with an uncommon L-pipecolinic acid moiety, and xylapeptide B (2) having a common L-proline residue were identified from an associated fungus Xylaria sp. isolated from the Chinese medicinal plant Sophora tonkinensis. Their planar structures were elucidated by a comprehensive analysis of NMR and MS spectroscopic spectra. The absolute configurations were determined by Marfey’s method and single-crystal X-ray diffraction (Cu Kα) analysis. Xylapeptide A (1) is the first example of cyclopentapeptide with L-Pip of terrestrial origin and showed strong antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis and B. cereus with MIC value of 12.5 μg/mL.

Abstract Within the framework of Boltzmann equation, we present a k · p theory based study for the low-field mobilities of InSb nanowires (InSb NWs) with relatively large cross sectional sizes (with diameters up to 51.8 nm). For such type of large size nanowires, the intersubband electron-phonon scattering is of crucial importance to affect the scattering rate and then the mobility. In our simulation, the lowest 15 electron subbands and 50 transverse modes of phonons are carefully accounted for. We find that, up to the 51.84 nm diameter, the mobility monotonously increases with the diameter, not yet showing any saturated behavior. We also find that, while the bulk InSb mobility is considerably higher than the bulk Si, the small size (e.g. ~3 nm diameter) nanowires from both materials have similar magnitude of mobilities. This implies, importantly, that the mobility of the InSb NWs would decrease faster than the SiNWs as we reduce the cross sectional size of the nanowires.
