Abstract To addresse the problem of poor detection accuracy or even false detection of wildlife caused by rainy environment at night. In this paper, a wildlife target detection algorithm based on improved YOLOX-s network is proposed. Our algorithm comprises the MobileViT-Pooling module, the Dynamic Head module, and the Focal-IoU module.First, the MobileViT-Pooling module is introduced.It is based on the MobileViT attention mechanism, which uses a spatial pooling operator with no parameters as a token mixer module to reduce the number of network parameters. This module performs feature extraction on three feature layers of the backbone network output respectively, senses the global information and strengthens the weight of the effective information. Second, the Dynamic Head module is used on the downstream task of network detection, which fuses the information of scale sensing, spatial sensing, and task sensing and improves the representation ability of the target detection head. Lastly, the Focal idea is utilized to improve the IoU loss function, which balances the learning of high and low quality IoU for the network. Experimental results reveal that our algorithm achieves a notable performance boost with mAP@0.5 reaching 87.8% (an improvement of 7.9%) and mAP@0.5:0.95 reaching 62.0% (an improvement of 5.3%). This advancement significantly augments the night-time wildlife detection accuracy under rainy conditions, concurrently diminishing false detections in such challenging environments.

Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) are significant global health issues. This study utilized data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 to analyze trends in incidence, prevalence, and Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALY) associated with HDP across 204 countries from 1990 to 2021. The analysis employed estimated annual percentage changes and an age-period-cohort model, stratifying data by age, year, geographical region, and sociodemographic index (SDI). Statistical analyses and visualizations were conducted using R. Between 1990 and 2021, global HDP incidence rose from 31.33 million to 36.10 million cases (15.24%), while prevalence surged from 6.15 million to 36.10 million cases (487%). Despite the increase in absolute cases, the age-standardized rates for incidence and prevalence exhibited only modest changes, with incidence up by 15.23% and prevalence slightly declining. Regions with high and high-middle SDI showed decreasing trends, whereas middle, low-middle, and low SDI regions faced rising trends. DALYs linked to HDP decreased from 6.96 million in 1990 to 4.94 million in 2021, with significant reductions in high SDI areas. Projections indicate a continued decrease in the global burden of HDP by 2040. The study concludes that continued efforts in prenatal care and health education are vital, particularly in low SDI regions, to mitigate the impact of HDP. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract Terahertz (THz) technology has emerged recently as a potential novel imaging modality in biomedical fields, including ophthalmology. However, the ocular biological responses after THz electromagnetic exposure have not been investigated. We conducted a rabbit study to evaluate the safety profiles of THz scanning on eyes, at a tissue, cellular, structural and functional level. Eight animals (16 eyes) were analysed after excessive THz exposure (control, 1 h, 4 h, and 1 week after continuous 4-h exposure; THz frequency = 0.3 THz with continuous pulse generated at 40 µW). We found that at all the time points, the corneas and lens remained clear with no corneal haze or lens opacity formation clinically and histopathologically. No thermal effect, assessed by thermographer, was observed. The rod and cone cell-mediated electroretinography responses were not significantly altered, and the corneal keratocytes activity as well as endothelial viability, assessed by in-vivo confocal microscopy, was not affected. Post-exposed corneas, lens and retinas exhibited no significant changes in the mRNA expression of heat shock protein (HSP)90AB1), DNA damage inducible transcript 3 (DDIT3), and early growth response (EGR)1. These tissues were also negative for the inflammatory (CD11b), fibrotic (fibronectin and α-smooth muscle actin), stress (HSP-47) and apoptotic (TUNEL assay) responses on the immunohistochemical analyses. The optical transmittance of corneas did not change significantly, and the inter-fibrillar distances of the corneal stroma evaluated with transmission electron microscopy were not significantly altered after THz exposure. These results provide the basis for future research work on the development of THz imaging system for its application in ophthalmology.

We report on structural, magnetic, ferroelectric, and thermodynamic properties of polycrystalline orthorhombic manganites Dy(1-x)Ho(x)MnO(3) for Ho substitution levels 0 ≤ x ≤ 1. This system offers a possibility to systemically modulate the multiferroicity of RMnO(3) via tuning the A-site ionic radii as well as the A-site magnetism. The successive transition of the multiferroic ground state is traced from the bc-cycloidal (DyMnO(3)) to the E-type antiferromagnetic phase (HoMnO(3)). In the middle substitution range 0.4 < x < 0.5, the phase separation is prominent, which's residual may survive in an even wider range. Accompanied with the phase transition and phase separation, obvious enhancement of both the polarization and magnetoelectric response is observed. Our experimental study also confirmed that the rare earth (Dy/Ho)-Mn exchange striction is a crucial role in deciding the multiferroicity of manganites.
