Advances in automotive technology require networks to support a variety of communication requirements, such as reliability, real-time performance, low jitter, and strict delay limits. Time-Sensitive Network (TSN) is a keyframe transmission delay-guaranteed solution based on the IEEE 802 architecture of the automotive Ethernet. However, most of the existing studies on automotive TSN performance are based on a single mechanism, lacking a complete and systematic research tool. At the same time, the design method should be considered from a global perspective when designing an automotive TSN system, rather than only considering a single mechanism that TSN applies to. This paper discusses the correspondence between traffic types and automotive scenarios and proposes a methodology to target the delay constraint of traffic types as the design goal of automotive TSN networks. To study the performance of automotive TSN under different mechanisms such as time-aware shaper (TAS), credit-based shaper (CBS), cyclic queuing and forwarding (CQF), etc., this paper also develops a systematic automotive TSN simulation system based on OMNeT++. The simulation system plays a crucial role in the whole methodology, including all applicable TSN standards for the automotive field. Lastly, a complex automotive scenario based on zonal architecture provided by a major motor company in Shanghai is analyzed in the simulated system; verifying TSN can guarantee real-time performance and reliability of the in-vehicle network. Understanding human movement patterns is crucial for comprehending how a city functions. It is also important for city planners and policymakers to create more efficient plans and policies for urban areas. Traditionally, human movement patterns were analyzed using origin–destination surveys, travel diaries, and other methods. Now, these patterns can be identified from various geospatial big data sources, such as mobile phone data, floating car data, and location-based social media (LBSM) data. These extensive datasets primarily identify individual or collective human movement patterns. However, the impact of spatial scale on the analysis of human movement patterns from these large geospatial data sources has not been sufficiently studied. Changes in spatial scale can significantly affect the results when calculating human movement patterns from these data. In this study, we utilized Weibo datasets for three different cities in China including Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai. We aimed to identify the effect of different spatial scales on individual human movement patterns as calculated from LBSM data. For our analysis, we employed two indicators as follows: an external activity space indicator, the radius of gyration (ROG), and an internal activity space indicator, entropy. These indicators were chosen based on previous studies demonstrating their efficiency in analyzing sparse datasets like LBSM data. Additionally, we used two different ranges of spatial scales—10–100 m and 100–3000 m—to illustrate changes in individual activity space at both fine and coarse spatial scales. Our results indicate that although the ROG values show an overall increasing trend and the entropy values show an overall decreasing trend with the increase in spatial scale size, different local factors influence the ROG and entropy values at both finer and coarser scales. These findings will help to comprehend the dynamics of human movement across different scales. Such insights are invaluable for enhancing overall urban mobility and optimizing transportation systems. Objective: The aim was to evaluate and optimize the performance of sensor monitors in measuring PM2.5 and PM10 under typical emission scenarios both indoors and outdoors. Method: Parallel measurements and comparisons of PM2.5 and PM10 were carried out between sensor monitors and standard instruments in typical indoor (2 months) and outdoor environments (1 year) in Shanghai, respectively. The optimized validation model was determined by comparing six machining learning models, adjusting for meteorological and related factors. The intra- and inter-device variation, measurement accuracy, and stability of sensor monitors were calculated and compared before and after validation. Results: Indoor particles were measured in a range of 0.8–370.7 μg/m3 and 1.9–465.2 μg/m3 for PM2.5 and PM10, respectively, while the outdoor ones were in the ranges of 1.0–211.0 μg/m3 and 0.0–493.0 μg/m3, correspondingly. Compared to machine learning models including multivariate linear model (ML), K-nearest neighbor model (KNN), support vector machine model (SVM), decision tree model (DT), and neural network model (MLP), the random forest (RF) model showed the best validation after adjusting for temperature, relative humidity (RH), PM2.5/PM10 ratios, and measurement time lengths (months) for both PM2.5 and PM10, in indoor (R2: 0.97 and 0.91, root-mean-square error (RMSE) of 1.91 μg/m3 and 4.56 μg/m3, respectively) and outdoor environments (R2: 0.90 and 0.80, RMSE of 5.61 μg/m3 and 17.54 μg/m3, respectively), respectively. Conclusions: Sensor monitors could provide reliable measurements of PM2.5 and PM10 with high accuracy and acceptable inter and intra-device consistency under typical indoor and outdoor scenarios after validation by RF model. The traditional weighing and selling process of non-barcode items requires manual service, which not only consumes manpower and material resources but is also more prone to errors or omissions of data. This paper proposes an intelligent self-service vending system embedded with a single camera to detect multiple products in real-time performance without any labels, and the system realizes the integration of weighing, identification, and online settlement in the process of non-barcode items. The system includes a self-service vending device and a multi-device data management platform. The flexible configuration of the structure gives the system the possibility of identifying fruits from multiple angles. The height of the system can be adjusted to provide self-service for people of different heights; then, deep learning skill is applied implementing product detection, and real-time multi-object detection technology is utilized in the image-based checkout system. In addition, on the multi-device data management platform, the information docking between embedded devices, WeChat applets, Alipay, and the database platform can be implemented. We conducted experiments to verify the accuracy of the measurement. The experimental results demonstrate that the correlation coefficient R 2 between the measured value of the weight and the actual value is 0.99, and the accuracy of non-barcode item prediction is 93.73%. In Yangpu District, Shanghai, a comprehensive application scenario experiment was also conducted, proving that our system can effectively deal with the challenges of various sales situations. Dynamic traffic flow, which can facilitate the efficient operation of traffic road networks, is an important prerequisite for the application of reasonable assignment of traffic demands in an urban road network. In order to improve the accuracy of dynamic traffic flow assignment, this paper proposes a dynamic traffic flow assignment model based on GPS trajectory data and the influence of POI. First, this paper explores the impact patterns of POI on regional road network congestion during peak hours through qualitative and quantitative analysis. Then, based on the user equilibrium theory, a dynamic traffic flow assignment model, in which the effect of POI on links is reflected using the link-node impedance function, is proposed. Finally, the accuracy of the model is validated by the GPS trajectory data and origin–destination (OD) traffic data of motor vehicles in Xuhui District, Shanghai, China. The results show that the model can be used to coordinate and optimize the traffic assignment of the regional road network under the influence of POI during peak hours and alleviate the congestion of the road network. The train-induced vibration response provides a flexible solution for the real-time monitoring deformation of high-speed railway track slab in actual operation. This paper proposes a long-term real-time monitoring method for track slab deformation based on wavelet packet energy (WPE) using fiber optic accelerometers to record train-induced vibration. We found that the vibration response law of track slab deformation could be established by using the WPE of the frequency band covering the first- and second-order frequencies induced by the adjacent carriages. A field test was carried out for more than one year on the Beijing–Shanghai high-speed railway to investigate the train-induced vibration response law of track slab that was continuously deformed under a long-term temperature load. The maximum values of the WPE characteristic index appeared in winter and summer, and they were positively correlated with the temperature difference between the air environment and the track slab under the daily temperature load. These results were demonstrated to be consistent with the track slab deformation law for long-term and daily temperature loads. Sensor data are gaining increasing global attention due to the advent of Internet of Things (IoT). Reasoning is applied on such sensor data in order to compute prediction. Generating a health warning that is based on prediction of atmospheric pollution, planning timely evacuation of people from vulnerable areas with respect to prediction of natural disasters, etc., are the use cases of sensor data stream where prediction is vital to protect people and assets. Thus, prediction accuracy is of paramount importance to take preventive steps and avert any untoward situation. Uncertainties of sensor data is a severe factor which hampers prediction accuracy. Belief Rule Based Expert System (BRBES), a knowledge-driven approach, is a widely employed prediction algorithm to deal with such uncertainties based on knowledge base and inference engine. In connection with handling uncertainties, it offers higher accuracy than other such knowledge-driven techniques, e.g., fuzzy logic and Bayesian probability theory. Contrarily, Deep Learning is a data-driven technique, which constitutes a part of Artificial Intelligence (AI). By applying analytics on huge amount of data, Deep Learning learns the hidden representation of data. Thus, Deep Learning can infer prediction by reasoning over available data, such as historical data and sensor data streams. Combined application of BRBES and Deep Learning can compute prediction with improved accuracy by addressing sensor data uncertainties while utilizing its discovered data pattern. Hence, this paper proposes a novel predictive model that is based on the integrated approach of BRBES and Deep Learning. The uniqueness of this model lies in the development of a mathematical model to combine Deep Learning with BRBES and capture the nonlinear dependencies among the relevant variables. We optimized BRBES further by applying parameter and structure optimization on it. Air pollution prediction has been taken as use case of our proposed combined approach. This model has been evaluated against two different datasets. One dataset contains synthetic images with a corresponding label of PM2.5 concentrations. The other one contains real images, PM2.5 concentrations, and numerical weather data of Shanghai, China. We also distinguished a hazy image between polluted air and fog through our proposed model. Traffic-related air pollution (TRAP) was monitored using a mobile sensor network on 125 urban taxis in Shanghai (November 2019/December 2020), which provide real-time patterns of air pollution at high spatial resolution. Each device determined concentrations of carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and PM2.5, which characterised spatial and temporal patterns of on-road pollutants. A total of 80% road coverage (motorways, trunk, primary, and secondary roads) required 80–100 taxis, but only 25 on trunk roads. Higher CO concentrations were observed in the urban centre, NO2 higher in motorway concentrations, and PM2.5 lower in the west away from the city centre. During the COVID-19 lockdown, concentrations of CO, NO2, and PM2.5 in Shanghai decreased by 32, 31 and 41%, compared with the previous period. Local contribution related to traffic emissions changed slightly before and after COVID-19 restrictions, while changing background contributions relate to seasonal variation. Deep learning techniques such as convolutional neural networks have largely improved the performance of building segmentation from remote sensing images. However, the images for building segmentation are often in the form of traditional orthophotos, where the relief displacement would cause non-negligible misalignment between the roof outline and the footprint of a building; such misalignment poses considerable challenges for extracting accurate building footprints, especially for high-rise buildings. Aiming at alleviating this problem, a new workflow is proposed for generating rectified building footprints from traditional orthophotos. We first use the facade labels, which are prepared efficiently at low cost, along with the roof labels to train a semantic segmentation network. Then, the well-trained network, which employs the state-of-the-art version of EfficientNet as backbone, extracts the roof segments and the facade segments of buildings from the input image. Finally, after clustering the classified pixels into instance-level building objects and tracing out the roof outlines, an energy function is proposed to drive the roof outline to maximally align with the building footprint; thus, the rectified footprints can be generated. The experiments on the aerial orthophotos covering a high-density residential area in Shanghai demonstrate that the proposed workflow can generate obviously more accurate building footprints than the baseline methods, especially for high-rise buildings. When providing route guidance to pedestrians, one of the major safety considerations is to ensure that streets are crossed at places with pedestrian crossings. As a result, map service providers are keen to gather the location information about pedestrian crossings in the road network. Most, if not all, literature in this field focuses on detecting the pedestrian crossing immediately in front of the camera, while leaving the other pedestrian crossings in the same image undetected. This causes an under-utilization of the information in the video images, because not all pedestrian crossings captured by the camera are detected. In this research, we propose a coarse-to-fine framework to detect pedestrian crossings from probe vehicle videos, which can then be combined with the GPS traces of the corresponding vehicles to determine the exact locations of pedestrian crossings. At the coarse stage of our approach, we identify vanishing points and straight lines associated with the stripes of pedestrian crossings, and partition the edges to obtain rough candidate regions of interest (ROIs). At the fine stage, we determine whether these candidate ROIs are indeed pedestrian crossings by exploring their prior constraint information. Field experiments in Beijing and Shanghai cities show that the proposed approach can produce satisfactory results under a wide variety of situations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In this work, we study data collection in multiple unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-aided mobile wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The network topology is changing due to the mobility of the UAVs and the sensor nodes, so the design of efficient data collection protocols is a major concern. We address such high dynamic network and propose two mechanisms: prioritized-based contact-duration frame selection mechanism (PCdFS), and prioritized-based multiple contact-duration frame selection mechanisms (PMCdFS) to build collision-free scheduling and balance the nodes between the multi-UAV respectively. Based on the two mechanisms, we proposed a Balance algorithm to conduct the collision-free communication between the mobile nodes and the multi-UAVs. Two key design ideas for a Balance algorithm are: (a) no need of higher priority for those nodes that have lower transmission rate between them and the UAV and (b) improve the communication opportunity for those nodes that have shorter contact duration with the UAVs. We demonstrate the performance of proposed algorithms through extensive simulations, and real experiments. These experiments using 15 mobile nodes at a path with 10 intersections and 1 island, present that network fairness is efficiently enhanced. We also confirm the applicability of proposed algorithms in a challenging and realistic scenario through numerous experiments on a path at Tongji campus in Shanghai, China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
