Flexible ammonia (NH3) gas sensors have gained increasing attention for their potential in medical diagnostics and health monitoring, as they serve as a biomarker for kidney disease. Utilizing the pre-designable and porous properties of covalent organic frameworks (COFs) is an innovative way to address the demand for high-performance NH3 sensing. However, COF particles frequently encounter aggregation, low conductivity, and mechanical rigidity, reducing the effectiveness of portable NH3 detection. To overcome these challenges, we propose a practical approach using polyvinyl alcohol-carrageenan (κPVA) as a template for in the situ growth of two-dimensional COF film and particles to produce a flexible hydrogel gas sensor (COF/κPVA). The synergistic effect of COF and κPVA enhances the gas sensing, water retention, and mechanical properties. The COF/κPVA hydrogel shows a 54.4% response to 1 ppm NH3 with a root mean square error of less than 5% and full recovery compared to the low response and no recovery of bare κPVA. Owing to the dual effects of the COF film and the particles anchoring the water molecules, the COF/κPVA hydrogel remained stable after 70 h in atmospheric conditions, in contrast, the bare κPVA hydrogel was completely dehydrated. The BeiDou navigation satellite system (BDS) provides precise positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services in the Asia-Pacific Region, but the BDS-based structural health monitoring (SHM) approach (SHM) is rarely studied, especially in civil engineering. Moreover, how BDS can be applied to complete the tasks of SHM in a real project is also not fully investigated, especially working in conjunction with other techniques. This study aims to propose a BDS-based approach for SHM in civil engineering. The performance of the proposed approach is investigated through a case study—the Tianhan Grand Theater (TGT). A specific Tianhan system corresponding to BDS is proposed to complete the SHM tasks of TGT. Based on the collected data, the trusses with maximum displacement and stress are found by BDS to evaluate structural health in the construction stage. The results show that the maximum displacement and stress have certain safety reserves and meet the requirements of the specifications and regulations. Thus, BDS can satisfactorily complete the tasks of SHM for Long-span steel structures. This study gives a clear view to engineers and researchers that how to apply BDS in structural construction and provides a valuable real case for evaluating the performance of BDS in SHM. Insulator defect detection is of great significance to compromise the stability of the power transmission line. The state-of-the-art object detection network, YOLOv5, has been widely used in insulator and defect detection. However, the YOLOv5 network has limitations such as poor detection rate and high computational loads in detecting small insulator defects. To solve these problems, we proposed a light-weight network for insulator and defect detection. In this network, we introduced the Ghost module into the YOLOv5 backbone and neck to reduce the parameters and model size to enhance the performance of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Besides, we added small object detection anchors and layers for small defect detection. In addition, we optimized the backbone of YOLOv5 by applying convolutional block attention modules (CBAM) to focus on critical information for insulator and defect detection and suppress uncritical information. The experiment result shows the mean average precision (mAP) is set to 0.5, and the mAP is set from 0.5 to 0.95 of our model and can reach 99.4% and 91.7%; the parameters and model size were reduced to 3,807,372 and 8.79 M, which can be easily deployed to embedded devices such as UAVs. Various traffic-sensing technologies have been employed to facilitate traffic control. Due to certain factors, e.g., malfunctioning devices and artificial mistakes, missing values typically occur in the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) sensing datasets, resulting in a decrease in the data quality. In this study, an integrated imputation algorithm based on fuzzy C-means (FCM) and the genetic algorithm (GA) is proposed to improve the accuracy of the estimated values. The GA is applied to optimize the parameter of the membership degree and the number of cluster centroids in the FCM model. An experimental test of the taxi global positioning system (GPS) data in Manhattan, New York City, is employed to demonstrate the effectiveness of the integrated imputation approach. Three evaluation criteria, the root mean squared error (RMSE), correlation coefficient (R), and relative accuracy (RA), are used to verify the experimental results. Under the ±5% and ±10% thresholds, the average RAs obtained by the integrated imputation method are 0.576 and 0.785, which remain the highest among different methods, indicating that the integrated imputation method outperforms the history imputation method and the conventional FCM method. On the other hand, the clustering imputation performance with the Euclidean distance is better than that with the Manhattan distance. Infrared maritime target detection is the key technology of maritime target search systems. However, infrared images generally have the defects of low signal-to-noise ratio and low resolution. At the same time, the maritime environment is complicated and changeable. Under the interference of islands, waves and other disturbances, the brightness of small dim targets is easily obscured, which makes them difficult to distinguish. This is difficult for traditional target detection algorithms to deal with. In order to solve these problems, through the analysis of infrared maritime images under a variety of sea conditions including small dim targets, this paper concludes that in infrared maritime images, small targets occupy very few pixels, often do not have any edge contour information, and the gray value and contrast values are very low. The background such as island and strong sea wave occupies a large number of pixels, with obvious texture features, and often has a high gray value. By deeply analyzing the difference between the target and the background, this paper proposes a detection algorithm (SRGM) for infrared small dim targets under different maritime background. Firstly, this algorithm proposes an efficient maritime background filter for the common background in the infrared maritime image. Firstly, the median filter based on the sensitive region selection is used to extract the image background accurately, and then the background is eliminated by image difference with the original image. In addition, this article analyzes the differences in gradient features between strong interference caused by the background and targets, proposes a small dim target extraction operator with two analysis factors that fit the target features perfectly and combines the adaptive threshold segmentation to realize the accurate extraction of the small dim target. The experimental results show that compared with the current popular small dim target detection algorithms, this paper has better performance for target detection in various maritime environments. In this study, an LC wireless passive humidity sensor based on MoS2 nanoflakes was proposed. The LC wireless passive humidity sensor was optimized by performing HFSS simulations and fabricated via a screen-printing technique. The MoS2 nanoflakes were characterized by laser scanning confocal microcopy, scanning electron microscope, and X-ray diffraction. The measurements show the sensor can operate stably for a long time with a hysteresis of 4% RH (relative humidity) in 10–95% RH. At low humidity environment (10–60% RH), the sensitivity of the as-prepared humidity sensor is 2.79 kHz/% RH, and a sensitivity of 76.04 kHz/% RH was realized in a high humidity environment (60–95% RH). In this regard, the sensing mechanism was discussed in the scope of proton transfer theory. The test results also indicate that the response time and recovery time of the prepared sensor are 10 s, 15 s, respectively and between 15~40 °C the sensitivity of sensor was not temperature-dependent in the range of 10~80% RH. In addition, the sensor shows less sensitivity to temperature in the 15–25 °C range at 90% RH. All of these experimental results show that the prepared LC wireless passive humidity sensor can stably monitor the rapidly changing humidity in a sealed and narrow environment for a long time. Changes in ocean temperature over time have important implications for marine ecosystems and global climate change. Marine temperature changes with time and has the features of closeness, period, and trend. This paper analyzes the temporal dependence of marine temperature variation at multiple depths and proposes a new ocean-temperature time-series prediction method based on the temporal dependence parameter matrix fusion of historical observation data. The Temporal Dependence-Based Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) Networks for Marine Temperature Prediction (TD-LSTM) proves better than other methods while predicting sea-surface temperature (SST) by using Argo data. Partial discharge (PD) localization in substations based on the ultra-high frequency (UHF) method can be used to efficiently assess insulation conditions. Localization accuracy is affected by the accuracy of the time delay (TD) estimation, which is critical for PD localization in substations. A review of existing TD estimation methods indicates that there is a need to develop methods that are both accurate and computationally efficient. In this paper, a novel TD estimation method is proposed to improve both accuracy and efficiency. The TD is calculated using an improved cross-correlation algorithm based on full-wavefronts of array UHF signals, which are extracted using the minimum cumulative energy method and zero-crossing points searching methods. The cross-correlation algorithm effectively suppresses the TD error caused by differences between full-wavefronts. To verify the method, a simulated PD source test in a laboratory and a field test in a 220 kV substation were carried out. The results show that the proposed method is accurate even in case of low signal-to-noise ratio, but with greatly improved computational efficiency. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
