As the variety of space targets expands, two-dimensional (2D) ISAR images prove insufficient for target recognition, necessitating the extraction of three-dimensional (3D) information. The 3D geometry reconstruction method utilizing energy accumulation of ISAR image sequence (ISEA) facilitates superior reconstruction while circumventing the laborious steps associated with factorization methods. Nevertheless, ISEA's neglect of valid information necessitates a high quantity of images and elongated operation times. This paper introduces a partitioned parallel 3D reconstruction method utilizing sorted-energy semi-accumulation with ISAR image sequences (PP-ISEA) to address these limitations. The PP-ISEA innovatively incorporates a two-step search pattern—coarse and fine—that enhances search efficiency and conserves computational resources. It introduces a novel objective function 'sorted-energy semi-accumulation' to discern genuine scatterers from spurious ones and establishes a redundant point exclusion module. Experiments on the scatterer model and simulated electromagnetic model demonstrate that the PP-ISEA reduces the minimum image requirement from ten to four for high-quality scatterer model reconstruction, thereby offering superior reconstruction quality in less time. In order to achieve the remote application of inverse synthetic aperture laser radar for high resolution spatial situational awareness, it is essential to analyze the main factors that restrict its remote application. This study combines the range equation of inverse synthetic aperture lidar with the stimulated Brillouin threshold power equation to investigate the variation of laser transmitting power with distance. Additionally, by utilizing the excited Brillouin threshold power equation, laser linewidth formula, and pulse width characteristics of pulse signal, we examine the variation law of laser coherence that meets corresponding power requirements at different distances. The results indicate that a detection distance of 22 km and below can be achieved using continuous fiber lasers without compensation. Coherence compensation is necessary for distances between 22 km and 57 km. For distances ranging from 57 km to 3000 km, pulsed solid-state lasers are used to analyze coherence and conclude that imaging non-cooperative targets within this range is feasible. It is observed that coherence compensation is required from 57 km to 2179 km, becoming more challenging after 2000 km. Furthermore, pulsed solid-state lasers can still be utilized for imaging cooperative targets within a range of 2179–3273 km; however, coherence compensation remains necessary and becomes increasingly difficult. Finally, several coherent length compensation schemes are proposed in order to extend the imaging range of inverse synthetic aperture LiDAR to approximately 3000 km. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

High-resolution and wide-swath (HRWS) synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging with azimuth multi-channel always suffers from channel phase and amplitude errors. Compared with spatial-invariant error, the range-dependent channel phase error is intractable due to its spatial dependency characteristic. This paper proposes a novel parameterized channel equalization approach to reconstruct the unambiguous SAR imagery. First, a linear model is established for the range-dependent channel phase error, and the sharpness of the reconstructed Doppler spectrum is used to measure the unambiguity quality. Furthermore, the intrinsic relationship between the channel phase errors and the sharpness is revealed, which allows us to estimate the optimal parameters by maximizing the sharpness of the reconstructed Doppler spectrum. Detecting objects, particularly naval mines, on the seafloor is a complex task. In naval mine countermeasures (MCM) operations, sidescan or synthetic aperture sonars have been used to search large areas. However, a single sensor cannot meet the requirements of high-precision autonomous navigation. Based on the ORB-SLAM3-VI framework, we propose ORB-SLAM3-VIP, which integrates a depth sensor, an IMU sensor and an optical sensor. This method integrates the measurements of depth sensors and an IMU sensor into the visual SLAM algorithm through tight coupling, and establishes a multi-sensor fusion SLAM model. Depth constraints are introduced into the process of initialization, scale fine-tuning, tracking and mapping to constrain the position of the sensor in the z-axis and improve the accuracy of pose estimation and map scale estimate. The test on seven sets of underwater multi-sensor sequence data in the AQUALOC dataset shows that, compared with ORB-SLAM3-VI, the ORB-SLAM3-VIP system proposed in this paper reduces the scale error in all sequences by up to 41.2%, and reduces the trajectory error by up to 41.2%. Multistatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a special mode of SAR system. The radar transmitter and receiver are located on different satellites, which brings many advantages, such as flexible baseline configuration, diverse receiving modes, and more detailed ground object classification information. The multistatic SAR has been widely used in interferometry, moving target detection, three-dimensional imaging, and other fields. The frequency offset between different oscillators will cause a modulation phase error in the signal. Therefore, phase synchronization is one of the most critical problems to be addressed in distributed SAR systems. This article reviews phase synchronization techniques, which are mainly divided into two methods: synchronization by direct microwave link and synchronization by a data-based estimation algorithm. Spaceborne synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is an advanced microwave imaging technology that provides all-weather and all-day target information. However, as spaceborne SAR resolution improves, traditional echo signal models based on airborne SAR design become inadequate due to the curved orbit, Earth rotation, and increased propagation distance. In this study, we propose an accurate range model for high-resolution spaceborne SAR by analyzing motion trajectory and Doppler parameters from the perspective of the space geometry of spaceborne SAR. We evaluate the accuracy of existing range models and propose an advanced equivalent squint range model (AESRM) that accurately fits the actual range history and compensates for high-order term errors by introducing third-order and fourth-order error terms while maintaining the simplicity of the traditional model. The proposed AESRM's concise two-dimensional frequency spectrum form facilitates the design of imaging algorithms. Point target simulations confirm the effectiveness of the proposed AESRM, demonstrating significant improvements in fitting accuracy for range histories characterized by nonlinear trajectories. In synthetic aperture radar (SAR) signal processing, compared with the raw data of level-0, level-1 SAR images are more readily accessible and available in larger quantities. However, an amount of level-1 images are affected by radio frequency interference (RFI), which typically originates from Linear Frequency Modulation (LFM) signals emitted by ground-based radars. Existing research on interference suppression in level-1 data has primarily focused on two methods: transforming SAR images into simulated echo data for interference suppression, or focusing interference in the frequency domain and applying notching filters to reduce interference energy. However, these methods overlook the effective utilization of the interference parameters or are confined to suppressing only one type of LFM interference at a time. In certain SAR images, multiple types of LFM interference manifest bright radiation artifacts that exhibit varying lengths along the range direction while remaining constant in the azimuth direction. It is necessary to suppress multiple LFM interference on SAR images when original echo data are unavailable. This article proposes a joint sparse recovery algorithm for interference suppression in the SAR image domain. In the SAR image domain, two-dimensional LFM interference typically exhibits differences in parameters such as frequency modulation rate and pulse width in the range direction, while maintaining consistency in the azimuth direction. Based on this observation, this article constructs a series of focusing operators for LFM interference in SAR images. These operators enable the sparse representation of dispersed LFM interference. Subsequently, an optimization model is developed that can effectively suppress multi-LFM interference and reduce image loss with the assistance of a regularization term in the image domain. With the rapidly growing interest in using structural timber, a need exists to inspect and assess these structures using non-destructive testing (NDT). This review article summarizes NDT methods for wood inspection. After an overview of the most important NDT methods currently used, a detailed review of Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and Ultrasonic Testing (UST) is presented. These two techniques can be applied in situ and produce useful visual representations for quantitative assessments and damage detection. With its commercial availability and portability, GPR can help rapidly identify critical features such as moisture, voids, and metal connectors in wood structures. UST, which effectively detects deep cracks, delaminations, and variations in ultrasonic wave velocity related to moisture content, complements GPR's capabilities. The non-destructive nature of both techniques preserves the structural integrity of timber, enabling thorough assessments without compromising integrity and durability. Techniques such as the Synthetic Aperture Focusing Technique (SAFT) and Total Focusing Method (TFM) allow for reconstructing images that an inspector can readily interpret for quantitative assessment. The development of new sensors, instruments, and analysis techniques has continued to improve the application of GPR and UST on wood. However, due to the hon-homogeneous anisotropic properties of this complex material, challenges remain to quantify defects and characterize inclusions reliably and accurately. By integrating advanced imaging algorithms that consider the material's complex properties, combining measurements with simulations, and employing machine learning techniques, the implementation and application of GPR and UST imaging and damage detection for wood structures can be further advanced. SAR imagery plays a crucial role in geological and environmental monitoring, particularly in highland mountainous regions. However, inherent geometric distortions in SAR images often undermine the precision of remote sensing analyses. Accurately identifying and classifying these distortions is key to analyzing their origins and enhancing the quality and accuracy of monitoring efforts. While the layover and shadow map (LSM) approach is commonly utilized to identify distortions, it falls short in classifying subtle ones. This study introduces a novel LSM ground-range slope (LG) method, tailored for the refined identification of minor distortions to augment the LSM approach. We implemented the LG method on Sentinel-1 SAR imagery from the tri-junction area where the Xiaojiang, Pudu, and Jinsha rivers converge at the Yunnan-Sichuan border. By comparing effective monitoring-point densities, we evaluated and validated traditional methods—LSM, R-Index, and P-NG—against the LG method. The LG method demonstrates superior performance in discriminating subtle distortions within complex terrains through its secondary classification process, which allows for precise and comprehensive recognition of geometric distortions. Furthermore, our research examines the impact of varying slope parameters during the classification process on the accuracy of distortion identification. With the acceleration of urbanisation, urban areas are subject to the combined effects of the accumulation of various natural factors, such as changes in temperature leading to the thermal expansion or contraction of surface materials (rock, soil, etc.) and changes in precipitation and humidity leading to an increase in the self-weight of soil due to the infiltration of water along the cracks or pores in the ground. Therefore, the subsidence of urban areas has now become a serious geological disaster phenomenon. However, the use of traditional neural network prediction models has limitations when examining the causal relationships between time series surface deformation data and multiple influencing factors and when applying multiple influencing factors for predictive analyses. To this end, Sentinel-1A data from March 2017 to February 2023 were used as the data source in this paper, based on time series deformation data acquired using the small baseline subset interferometric synthetic aperture radar (SBAS-InSAR) technique. A sparrow search algorithm–convolutional neural network–long short-term memory (SSA-CNN-LSTM) neural network prediction model was built. The six factors of temperature, humidity, precipitation, and ground temperature at three different depths below the surface (5 cm, 10 cm, and 15 cm) were taken as the input of the model, and the surface deformation data were taken as the output of the neural network model. The correlation between the spatial and temporal evolution characteristics of the ground subsidence in urban areas and various influencing factors was analysed using grey correlation analysis, which proved that these six factors contribute to some extent to the deformation of the urban surface. The main urban area of Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, was used as the study area. In order to verify the efficacy of this neural network prediction model, the prediction effects of the multilayer perceptron (MLP), backpropagation (BP), and SSA-CNN-LSTM models were compared and analysed, with the values of the correlation coefficients of the feature points of A1, B1, and C1 being in the range of 0.92, 0.83, and 0.93, respectively. The results show that compared with the traditional MLP and BP neural network models, the SSA-CNN-LSTM model achieves a higher performance in predicting time series surface deformation data in urban areas, which provides new ideas and methods for this area of research. This paper introduces a method for quantifying the three-dimensional deformation of ground targets and outlines the associated process. Initially, ground-based synthetic aperture radar was employed to monitor the radial deformation of targets, and optical equipment monitored pixel-level deformation in the vertical plane of the line of sight. Subsequently, a regression model was established to transform pixel-level deformation into two-dimensional deformation based on a fundamental length unit, and the radar deformation monitoring data were merged with the optical deformation monitoring data. Finally, the fused data underwent deformation, resulting in a comprehensive three-dimensional deformation profile of the target. Through physical data acquisition experiments, the comprehensive three-dimensional deformation of targets was obtained and compared with the actual deformations. Optical microscopy techniques are among the most used methods in biomedical sample characterization. In their more advanced realization, optical microscopes demonstrate resolution down to the nanometric scale. These methods rely on the use of fluorescent sample labeling in order to break the diffraction limit. However, fluorescent molecules' phototoxicity or photobleaching is not always compatible with the investigated samples. To overcome this limitation, quantitative phase imaging techniques have been proposed. Among these, holographic imaging has demonstrated its ability to image living microscopic samples without staining. However, for a 3D assessment of samples, tomographic acquisitions are needed. Tomographic Diffraction Microscopy (TDM) combines holographic acquisitions with tomographic reconstructions. Relying on a 3D synthetic aperture process, TDM allows for 3D quantitative measurements of the complex refractive index of the investigated sample. Since its initial proposition by Emil Wolf in 1969, the concept of TDM has found a lot of applications and has become one of the hot topics in biomedical imaging. The attainment of a substantial aperture in the rotating synthetic aperture imaging system involves the rotation of a slender rectangular primary mirror. This constitutes a pivotal avenue of exploration in space telescope research. Due to the considerable aspect ratio of the primary mirror, environmental disturbances can significantly impact its surface shape. Active optical technology can rectify surface shape irregularities through the detection of wavefront information. The Phase Diversity (PD) method utilizes images captured by the imaging system to compute wavefront information. In this study, the PD method is applied to rotating synthetic and other rectangular aperture imaging systems, employing Legendre polynomials to model the wavefront. Compared to conventional radars, arc array synthetic aperture radar (SAR) enables wide-area observation under ideal conditions. However, helicopters carrying arc array SAR platforms are generally smaller in size and more sensitive to vibration, which has a greater impact on the imaging quality. In this paper, the vibration error of the arc array SAR platform is investigated, and a vibration error model of the arc array SAR platform is established. Based on the study of the vibration error model, a vibration phase estimation and compensation algorithm based on the delayed conjugate multiplication method is proposed. In the first step, distance pulse pressure processing is performed on the echo signal. In the second step, the pulse pressure signals and their delays in the same distance unit are subjected to conjugate multiplication, and the phase of the signal after conjugate multiplication is extracted. The extracted phase is then amplitude- and phase-compensated to estimate the vibration phase. In the third step, the vibration phase is compensated in the azimuthal direction of the distance pulse pressure signal, and the pairwise echo is eliminated, which completes the compensation of the airborne arc array SAR vibration platform. Supervised machine learning algorithms usually require huge labeled data sets to produce sufficiently good results. For many applications, these data sets are still not available today, and the reasons for this can be manifold. As a solution, the missing training data can be generated by fast simulators. This procedure is well studied and allows filling possible gaps in the training data, which can further improve the results of a machine learning model. For this reason, this article deals with the development of a two-dimensional electromagnetic field simulator for modeling the response of a radar sensor in an imaging system based on the synthetic aperture radar principle. The creation of completely random scenes is essential to achieve data sets with large variance. Therefore, special emphasis is placed on the development of methods that allow creating random objects, which can then be assembled into an entire scene. In the context of this contribution, we focus on humanitarian demining with regard to improvised explosive devices using a ground-penetrating radar system. This is an area where the use of trained classifiers is of great importance, but in practice, there are little to no labeled datasets for the training process. The simulation results show good agreement with the measurement results obtained in a previous contribution, demonstrating the possibility of enhancing sparse training data sets with synthetic data. Atmospheric delay correction remains a major challenge for interferometric synthetic aperture radar (InSAR) technology. In this paper, we first reviewed several commonly used methods for tropospheric delay correction in InSAR. Subsequently, considering the large volume and high temporal resolution of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) station measurement data, we proposed a method for spatial prediction of the InSAR tropospheric delay phase based on the backpropagation (BP) neural network and GNSS zenith total delay (ZTD). Using 42 Sentinel-1 interferograms over the Los Angeles area in 2021 as an example, we validated the accuracy of the BP + GNSS method in spatially predicting ZTD and compared the correction effects of BP + GNSS and five other methods on interferograms using the standard deviation (StaD) and structural similarity (SSIM). The results demonstrated that the BP + GNSS method reduced the root-mean-square error (RMSE) in spatial prediction by approximately 95.50% compared to the conventional interpolation method. After correction using the BP + GNSS method, StaD decreased in 92.86% of interferograms, with an average decrease of 52.03%, indicating significantly better correction effects than other methods. The SSIM of the BP + GNSS method was lower in mountainous and high-altitude areas with obvious terrain changes in the east and north, exhibiting excellent and stable correction performance in different seasons, particularly outperforming the GACOS method in autumn and winter. The BP + GNSS method can be employed to generate InSAR tropospheric delay maps with high temporal and spatial resolution, effectively addressing the challenge of removing InSAR tropospheric delay signals in areas with significant terrain variations. Digital holographic microscopy (DHM) is a valuable technique for investigating the optical properties of samples through the measurement of intensity and phase of diffracted beams. However, DHMs are constrained by Lagrange invariance, compromising the spatial bandwidth product (SBP) which relates resolution and field of view. Synthetic aperture DHM (SA-DHM) was introduced to overcome this limitation, but it faces significant challenges such as aberrations in synthesizing the optical information corresponding to the steering angle of incident wave. This paper proposes a novel approach utilizing deep neural networks (DNNs) for compensating aberrations in SA-DHM, extending the compensation scope beyond the numerical aperture (NA) of the objective lens. The method involves training a DNN from diffraction patterns and Zernike coefficients through a circular aperture, enabling effective aberration compensation in the illumination beam. This method makes it possible to estimate aberration coefficients from the only part of the diffracted beam cutoff by the circular aperture mask. With the proposed technique, the simulation results present improved resolution and quality of sample images. Low-frequency aperture arrays represent sensitive instruments to detect signals from radio astronomic sources situated in the universe. In Italy, the Sardinia Aperture Array Demonstrator (SAAD) consists of an ongoing project of the Italian National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) aimed to install an aperture array constituted of 128 dual-polarized Vivaldi antennas at the Sardinia Radio Telescope (SRT) site. The originally envisaged 128 elements of SAAD were re-scoped to the 16 elements of its precursor named SADino, with the aim to quickly test the system with a digital beam-former based on the Italian Tile Processing Module (iTPM) digital back-end. A preliminary measurements campaign of radio frequency interference (RFI) was performed to survey the less contaminated spectral region. The results of these measurements permitted the establishment of the technical requirements for receiving a chain for the SADino telescope. In this paper, the design, implementation, and characterization of this signal acquisition chain are proposed. The operative frequency window of SAAD and its precursor, SADino, sweeps from 260 MHz to 420 MHz, which appears very attractive for radio astronomy applications and radar observation in space and surveillance awareness (SSA) activities. The direction-of-arrival (DOA) estimation is predominantly influenced by the antenna's aperture size. However, space constraints on flight platforms often necessitate the use of antennas with smaller apertures and fewer array elements. This inevitably imposes limitations on the DOA estimation's resolution and degrees of freedom. To address these precision constraints, we introduce an accurate DOA estimation method based on spatial synthetic aperture model. This method adopts a two-stage strategy to ensure both efficiency and precision in DOA estimation. Initially, the orthogonal matching pursuit (OMP) reconstruction algorithm processes the original aperture data, providing a rough estimate of target angles that guides the aircraft's flight direction. Subsequently, the early estimations merge with the aircraft's motion space samples, forming equivalent spatially synthesized array samples. The refined angle estimation then employs the OMP-RELAX algorithm. Moreover, with the off-grid issue in mind, we devise an estimation method integrating Bayesian parameter estimation with dictionary sequence refinement. The proposed technique harnesses the spatial synthetic aperture for pinpoint estimation, effectively addressing the challenges of atomic orthogonality and angular off-grid on estimation accuracy. Importantly, the efficiency of deploying sparse reconstruction for angle estimation is bolstered by our phased strategy, eliminating the necessity for fine grid analysis across the entire observation scene. Moreover, the poor estimation accuracy caused by coherent source targets and angular-flickering targets is improved by sparse reconstruction. Through simulation and experiment, we affirm the proposed method's efficacy in angle estimation. The results indicate that target angle estimation errors are limited to within 1°. Furthermore, we assess the impact of variables such as target state, heading angle, spatial sampling points, and target distance on the estimation accuracy of our method, showcasing its resilience and adaptability. Conventional squinted sliding spotlight synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging suffers from substantial swath width reduction and complex processing requirements due to the continuous variation in the squint angle and the large range cell migration (RCM) throughout the data acquisition interval. A novel two-dimensional (2D) beam scanning mode for high-resolution wide swath (HRWS) imaging is proposed. The key to the novel imaging mode lies in the synchronous scanning of azimuth and range beams, allowing for a broader and more flexible imaging swath with a high geometric resolution. Azimuth beam scanning from fore to aft was used to improve the azimuth resolution, while range beam scanning was adopted to illuminate the oblique wide swath to avoid the large RCM and the serious swath width reduction. Compared with the conventional sliding spotlight mode, both the swath width and swath length could be extended. According to the echo model of this imaging mode, an echo signal preprocessing approach is proposed. The key points of this approach are range data extension and azimuth data upsampling. A designed system example with a resolution of 0.5 m, swath width of 60 km, and azimuth coverage length of 134 km is presented. Furthermore, a simulation experiment on point targets was carried out. Traditional ultrasonic testing uses a single probe or phased array probe to investigate and visualize defects by adapting certain imaging algorithms. The time-domain synthetic aperture focusing technique (T-SAFT) is an imaging algorithm that employs a single probe to scan along the test specimen in various positions, to generate inspection images with better resolution. Both the T-SAFT and phased array probes are contact methods with limited bandwidth. This work aims to combine the advantages of the T-SAFT and phased array in a noncontact way with the aid of laser ultrasonics. Here, a pulsed laser beam is employed to generate ultrasonic waves in both thermoelastic and ablation regimes, whereas the laser Doppler vibrometer is used to acquire the generated signals. These two lasers are focused on the test specimen and, to avoid the plasma and crater influence in the ablation regime, the transmission beam and reception beam are separated by 5 mm. By moving the test specimen with a step size of 0.5 mm, a 1D linear phased array (41 and 43 elements) with a pitch of 0.5 mm was synthesized, and three side-drilled holes (Ø 8 mm—thermoelastic regime, Ø 10 mm and Ø 2 mm—ablation regime) were introduced for inspection. The A-scan data obtained from these elements were processed via the T-SAFT algorithm to generate the inspection images in various grid sizes. The results showed that the defect reflections obtained in the ablation regime have better visibility than those from the thermoelastic regime. This is due to the high-amplitude signals obtained in the ablation regime, which pave the way for enhancing the pixel intensity of each grid. Circular synthetic aperture radar (CSAR) can obtain higher image resolution and more target information using 360° observation of the target. Due to the anisotropy of target scattering characteristics in the actual scene, the sub-aperture imaging method is usually used for CSAR imaging. However, the uniformly divided overlapping sub-aperture CSAR imaging algorithm only considers phase compensation, ignoring the effect of target scattering characteristics on echo amplitude. In CSAR imaging scenarios carried by small rotor unmanned aerial vehicles (SRUAVs), the size of the observed scene cannot be ignored compared to the distance between the target and the antenna and the effect of the anisotropy of the target scattered energy on the echo amplitude should be considered. In this paper, a sub-aperture CSAR imaging method based on adaptive overlapping sub-aperture is proposed. First, the boundary points of the sub-aperture are determined by analyzing the correlation coefficient and the variation coefficient of the energy function. Next, the overlapping sub-aperture division schemes are automatically generated by screening and combining the boundary points. The sub-aperture images are then generated by a Back Projection (BP) algorithm. Finally, sub-aperture image registration and incoherent superposition are used to generate the final CSAR image. Verified by the CSAR field echo data, the proposed method can realize imaging of the original echo data without the Inertial Navigation System (INS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) observation data. Compared with the CSAR full-aperture BP imaging algorithm, the entropy of the image generated by the proposed method increased by 66.77%. Compared with the sub-aperture CSAR imaging algorithm, the entropy of the image generated by the proposed method was improved by 11.12%, retaining more details of the target, improving the target contour features, and enhancing the focusing effect. Cylindrical components are parts with curved surfaces, and their high-precision defect testing is of great significance to industrial production. This paper proposes a noncontact internal defect imaging method for cylindrical components, and an automatic photoacoustic testing platform is built. A synthetic aperture focusing technology in the polar coordinate system based on laser ultrasonic (LU-pSAFT) is established, and the relationship between the imaging quality and position of discrete points is analyzed. In order to verify the validity of this method, small holes of Φ0.5 mm in the aluminum alloy rod are tested. During the imaging process, since a variety of waveforms can be excited by the pulsed laser synchronously, the masked longitudinal waves reflected by small holes need to be filtered and windowed to achieve high-quality imaging. In addition, the influence of ultrasonic beam angle and signal array spacing on imaging quality is analyzed. The results show that the method can accurately present the outline of the small hole, the circumferential resolution of the small hole is less than 1° and the dimensional accuracy and position error are less than 0.1 mm. Synthetic aperture interferometers formed by satellite formations have been adopted to improve spatial resolution. Due to the limited number of satellites and limited integrated time, the use of sparse baselines can result in distorted reconstructed images, which will generate false targets or miss true targets. When detecting a target on the Earth from a geostationary orbit, the target usually occupies only one pixel, and it is almost submerged by noise. Considering the slow-varying characteristics of the observation area, combined with historical observation data and the motion characteristics of the target itself, a target detection method based on multi-frame snapshot images is proposed. Firstly, the observation background is estimated using multi-frame historical data, and background elimination is used to suppress the background noise. Then, potential targets are selected using the local brightness temperature characteristics of the targets. Lastly, the target motion tracks are applied to erase false targets and correct the positions of missed targets. Multiple-input-multiple-output synthetic aperture radar (MIMO-SAR) is being studied and applied in more and more scenarios. However, there is still a certain distance away from real-time imaging using advanced algorithms. The traditional backpropagation algorithm (BPA) multi-accumulation integration is unsuitable for dealing with large-size scanning data, and the wavenumber domain algorithm requires the array to satisfy Nyquist sampling law in azimuth to avoid aliasing in imaging reconstruction. Based on these issues, a novel 3D imaging method is proposed for MIMO-SAR. An appropriate transformation and inverse Fourier transform (FT) is carried out for the frequency domain; thus, accumulation in the wavenumber domain is not required, which is easy to implement. The computational complexity of the algorithm is much lower than BPA and has better generalizability than the wavenumber domain algorithm. Coherence factor (CF) is also introduced to achieve sidelobe suppression. Proof-of-principle experiments were also carried out in the 92.5 GHz band based on the MIMO-SAR prototype system. A radar altimeter (RA) is useful to improve autonomous functions such as landing guidance or navigation control of an aircraft. To ensure more precise and safer flights by aircraft, an interferometric RA (IRA) capable of measuring the angle of a target is required. However, the phase-comparison monopulse (PCM) technique used in IRAs has a problem in that an angular ambiguity arises with respect to a target with multiple reflection points, such as terrain. In this paper, we propose an altimetry method for IRAs that reduces the angular ambiguity by evaluating the quality of the phase. The altimetry method as introduced here is sequentially described based on synthetic aperture radar, a delay/Doppler radar altimeter, and PCM techniques. Finally, a phase quality evaluation method is proposed for use in the azimuth estimation process. In the application of synthetic aperture radar differential interferometry in urban environments, it is easy to regard the phase change in the deformation band of buildings under construction as noise that requires filtering. This introduces an error into the surrounding area while over-filtering, resulting in an error in the magnitude of the deformation measurement results for the entire region and the loss of deformation details in the surrounding area. Based on the traditional DInSAR workflow, this study added a deformation magnitude identification step, determined the deformation magnitude by using enhanced offset tracking technology, supplemented the filtering quality map and removed the construction areas that affect the interferometry in the filtering stage. The enhanced offset tracking technique adjusted the ratio of contrast saliency and coherence via the contrast consistency peak in the radar intensity image, which was used as the basis for adjusting the adaptive window size. The method proposed in this paper was evaluated in an experiment on a stable region using simulated data and in an experiment on a large deformation region using Sentinel-1 data. The experimental results show that the enhanced method has a better anti-noise ability than the traditional method, and the accuracy rate is improved by about 12%. The supplemented quality map can effectively remove the large deformation area to prevent over-filtering while ensuring the filtering quality, and it can achieve better filtering results. Feature extraction is an important process for the automatic recognition of synthetic aperture radar targets, but the rising complexity of the recognition network means that the features are abstractly implied in the network parameters and the performances are difficult to attribute. We propose the modern synergetic neural network (MSNN), which transforms the feature extraction process into the prototype self-learning process by the deep fusion of an autoencoder (AE) and a synergetic neural network. We prove that nonlinear AEs (e.g., stacked and convolutional AE) with ReLU activation functions reach the global minimum when their weights can be divided into tuples of M-P inverses. Therefore, MSNN can use the AE training process as a novel and effective nonlinear prototypes self-learning module. In addition, MSNN improves learning efficiency and performance stability by making the codes spontaneously converge to one-hots with the dynamics of Synergetics instead of loss function manipulation. Experiments on the MSTAR dataset show that MSNN achieves state-of-the-art recognition accuracy. The feature visualization results show that the excellent performance of MSNN stems from the prototype learning to capture features that are not covered in the dataset. An arc array synthetic aperture radar (AA-SAR) is a new type of omnidirectional observation and imaging system. Based on linear array 3D imaging, this paper introduces a keystone algorithm combined with the arc array SAR 2D imaging method and proposes a modified 3D imaging algorithm based on keystone transformation. The first step is to discuss the target azimuth angle, retain the far-field approximation method of the first-order term, analyze the influence of the forward motion of the platform on the along-track position, and realize the two-dimensional focusing of the target slant range–azimuth direction. The second step is to redefine a new azimuth angle variable in the slant-range along-track imaging and use the keystone-based processing algorithm in the range frequency domain to eliminate the coupling term generated by the array angle and the slant-range time. The corrected data are used to perform along-track pulse compression to obtain the focused image of the target and realize the three-dimensional imaging of the target. Finally, in this article, the spatial resolution of the AA-SAR system in the forward-looking state is analyzed in detail, and the change in the spatial resolution of the system and the effectiveness of the algorithm are verified through simulation. A method to enhance laser ultrasound (LUS) image reconstruction with the time-domain synthetic aperture focusing technique (T-SAFT) is presented, in which the acoustic velocity is extracted in situ with curve fitting. The operational principle is provided with the help of a numerical simulation, and the confirmation is provided experimentally. In these experiments, an all-optic LUS system was developed by using lasers for both excitation and detection of ultrasound. The acoustic velocity of a specimen was extracted in situ by fitting a hyperbolic curve to its B-scan image. The needle-like objects embedded within a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) block and a chicken breast have been successfully reconstructed using the extracted in situ acoustic velocity. Experimental results suggest that knowing the acoustic velocity in the T-SAFT process is important not only in finding the depth location of the target object but also for producing a high resolution image. Recently, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) have shown significant advantages in the tasks of image classification; however, these usually require a large number of labeled samples for training. In practice, it is difficult and costly to obtain sufficient labeled samples of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (PolSAR) images. To address this problem, we propose a novel semi-supervised classification method for PolSAR images in this paper, using the co-training of CNN and a support vector machine (SVM). In our co-training method, an eight-layer CNN with residual network (ResNet) architecture is designed as the primary classifier, and an SVM is used as the auxiliary classifier. In particular, the SVM is used to enhance the performance of our algorithm in the case of limited labeled samples. In our method, more and more pseudo-labeled samples are iteratively yielded for training through a two-stage co-training of CNN and SVM, which gradually improves the performance of the two classifiers. The trained CNN is employed as the final classifier due to its strong classification capability with enough samples. We carried out experiments on two C-band airborne PolSAR images acquired by the AIRSAR systems and an L-band spaceborne PolSAR image acquired by the GaoFen-3 system. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively integrate the complementary advantages of SVM and CNN, providing overall classification accuracy of more than 97%, 96% and 93% with limited labeled samples (10 samples per class) for the above three images, respectively, which is superior to the state-of-the-art semi-supervised methods for PolSAR image classification. Removing redundant features and improving classifier performance necessitates the use of meta-heuristic and deep learning (DL) algorithms in feature selection and classification problems. With the maturity of DL tools, many data-driven polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (POLSAR) representation models have been suggested, most of which are based on deep convolutional neural networks (DCNNs). In this paper, we propose a hybrid approach of a new multi-objective binary chimp optimization algorithm (MOBChOA) and DCNN for optimal feature selection. We implemented the proposed method to classify POLSAR images from San Francisco, USA. To do so, we first performed the necessary preprocessing, including speckle reduction, radiometric calibration, and feature extraction. After that, we implemented the proposed MOBChOA for optimal feature selection. Finally, we trained the fully connected DCNN to classify the pixels into specific land-cover labels. We evaluated the performance of the proposed MOBChOA-DCNN in comparison with nine competitive methods. Our experimental results with the POLSAR image datasets show that the proposed architecture had a great performance for different important optimization parameters. The proposed MOBChOA-DCNN provided fewer features (27) and the highest overall accuracy. The overall accuracy values of MOBChOA-DCNN on the training and validation datasets were 96.89% and 96.13%, respectively, which were the best results. The overall accuracy of SVM was 89.30%, which was the worst result. The results of the proposed MOBChOA on two real-world benchmark problems were also better than the results with the other methods. Synthetic aperture radar (SAR), which can generate images of regions or objects, is an important research area of radar. The chirp scaling algorithm (CSA) is a representative SAR imaging algorithm. The CSA has a simple structure comprising phase compensation and fast Fourier transform (FFT) operations by replacing interpolation for range cell migration correction (RCMC) with phase compensation. However, real-time processing still requires many computations and a long execution time. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a hardware accelerator to improve the speed of algorithm processing. In addition, the demand for a small SAR system that can be mounted on a small aircraft or drone and that satisfies the constraints of area and power consumption is increasing. In this study, we proposed a CSA-based SAR processor that supports FFT and phase compensation operations and presents field-programmable gate array (FPGA)-based implementation results. We also proposed a modified CSA flow that simplifies the traditional CSA flow by changing the order in which the transpose operation occurs. Therefore, the proposed CSA-based SAR processor was designed to be suitable for modified CSA flow. We designed the multiplier for FFT to be shared for phase compensation, thereby achieving area efficiency and simplifying the data flow. The proposed CSA-based SAR processor was implemented on a Xilinx UltraScale+ MPSoC FPGA device and designed using Verilog-HDL. After comparing the execution times of the proposed SAR processor and the ARM cortex-A53 microprocessor, we observed a 136.2-fold increase in speed for the 4096 × 4096-pixel image. Airborne acoustic surveillance would enable and ease several applications, including security surveillance, urban and industrial noise monitoring, rescue missions, and wildlife monitoring. Airborne surveillance with an acoustic camera mounted on an airship would provide the deployment flexibility and utility required by these applications. Nevertheless, and problematically for these applications, there is not a single acoustic camera mounted on an airship yet. We make significant advances towards solving this problem by designing and constructing an acoustic camera for direct mounting on the hull of a UAV airship. The camera consists of 64 microphones, a central processing unit, and software for data acquisition and processing dedicatedly developed for far-field low-level acoustic signal detection. We demonstrate a large-aperture mock-up camera operation on the ground, although all preparations have been made to integrate the camera onto an airship. The use of thin magnetostrictive patches to generate and detect guided waves within the composite samples is investigated for defect detection. This approach has been implemented using SH0 shear horizontal guided waves in both CFRP and GFRP plates. A magnetostrictive patch transducer was able to generate SH0 waves with known directional characteristics. The synthetic aperture focusing technique (SAFT) was then used to reconstruct images of defects using multiple transmission and detection locations. In this paper, we propose an enhancement of three-dimensional (3D) image visualization techniques by using different pickup plane reconstructions. In conventional 3D visualization techniques, synthetic aperture integral imaging (SAII) and volumetric computational reconstruction (VCR) can be utilized. However, due to the lack of image information and shifting pixels, it may be difficult to obtain better lateral and longitudinal resolutions of 3D images. Thus, we propose a new elemental image acquisition and computational reconstruction to improve both the lateral and longitudinal resolutions of 3D objects. To prove the feasibility of our proposed method, we present the performance metrics, such as mean squared error (MSE), peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity (SSIM), and peak-to-sidelobe ratio (PSR). An absolute-type four-degree-of-freedom (four-DOF) grating encoder that can simultaneously measure the three-axis pose (θx, θy, θz) and one-axis out-of-plane position (Z) of an object with high accuracy is demonstrated for the first time in this research. This grating encoder is composed of a stationary reading head and a movable grating reflector. A light beam from the reading head is projected onto the grating, and three diffracted beams (0th-, +1st-, and −1st-order) are generated, collimated, and received by three separate quadrant photodetectors (QPDs). The information of θx, θy, θz, and Z is coded into spot positions of these three diffracted beams on the QPDs. Thus, the modeling and decoupling algorithms were investigated, and an independent calculation of these four-DOF absolute positions was theoretically guaranteed. A prototype was then designed, constructed, and evaluated. Experimental results verified that the proposed grating encoder could achieve the absolute measurement of four-DOF θx, θy, θz, and Z with an accuracy of sub-arcseconds and sub-micrometers. To the best of our knowledge, the proposed encoder in this research is the first one to achieve absolute simultaneous measurements of four-DOF position and pose with a large measurement range. The success of this new grating encoder can benefit various multi-DOF positioning applications, especially for large-scale synthetic aperture optics (SAO), including stitching off-axis parabolic mirrors and pulse compression grating. Maneuvering target imaging based on inverse synthetic aperture radar (ISAR) imaging has recently drawn significant attention. Among the many autofocusing technologies which are crucial in ISAR imaging, minimum-entropy-based autofocusing (MEA) is highly robust. However, traditional MEA is not suitable for terahertz (THz) ISAR imaging. For one thing, the iterative process in traditional MEA is too complicated to be utilized for THz-ISAR imaging with tremendous data. For another, THz wavelengths are very short and extremely sensitive to phase errors, so the compensation accuracy of the traditional MEA method can hardly meet the requirements of THz radar high-resolution imaging. Therefore, in this paper, the MEA algorithm based on the damped Newton method is proposed, which improves computational efficiency by approximating the first- and second-order partial derivatives of the image entropy function with respect to the phase errors, as well as by the fast Fourier transform (FFT). The search step size factor is introduced to ensure that the algorithm can converge along the declination direction of the entropy function and obtain the globally optimal ISAR image. Light field (LF) image depth estimation is a critical technique for LF-related applications such as 3D reconstruction, target detection, and tracking. The refocusing property of LF images provide rich information for depth estimations; however, it is still challenging in cases of occlusion regions, edge regions, noise interference, etc. The epipolar plane image (EPI) of LF can effectively deal with the depth estimation because of its characteristics of multidirectionality and pixel consistency—in which the LF depth estimations are converted to calculate the EPI slope. This paper proposed an EPI LF depth estimation algorithm based on a directional relationship model and attention mechanism. Unlike the subaperture LF depth estimation method, the proposed method takes EPIs as input images. Specifically, a directional relationship model was used to extract direction features of the horizontal and vertical EPIs, respectively. Then, a multiviewpoint attention mechanism combining channel attention and spatial attention is used to give more weight to the EPI slope information. Subsequently, multiple residual modules are used to eliminate the redundant features that interfere with the EPI slope information—in which a small stride convolution operation is used to avoid losing key EPI slope information. High-accuracy level underwater acoustical surveying plays an important role in ocean engineering applications, such as subaqueous tunnel construction, oil and gas exploration, and resources prospecting. This novel imaging method is eager to break through the existing theory to achieve a higher accuracy level of surveying. Multibeam Synthetic Aperture Sonar (MBSAS) is a kind of underwater acoustical imaging theory that can achieve 3D high-resolution detecting and overcome the disadvantages of traditional imaging methods, such as Multibeam Echo Sounder (MBES) and Synthetic Aperture Sonar (SAS). However, the resolution in the across-track direction inevitably decreases with increasing range, limited by the beamwidth of the transducer array of MBES. Furthermore, the sidelobe problem is also a significant interference of imaging sonar that introduces image noise and false peaks, which reduces the accuracy of the underwater images. Therefore, we proposed an accelerated deconvolved MBSAS beamforming method that introduces exponential acceleration and vector extrapolation to improve the convergence velocity of the classical Richardson-Lucy (R-L) iteration. The method proposed achieves a narrow beamwidth with a high sidelobe ratio in a few iterations. It can be applied to actual engineering applications, which breaks through the limitation of the actual transducer array scale. Simulations, tank, and field experiments also demonstrate the feasibility and advantages of the method proposed. 3D high-accuracy level underwater acoustical surveying can be achieved through this 2D MBES transducer array system, which can be widely promoted in the field of underwater acoustical remote sensing. Near-field high-resolution synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imaging is mostly accompanied by a large number of data acquisition processes, which increases the system complexity and device cost. According to extensive reports, reducing the number of sampling points of a radar in space can greatly reduce the amount of data. However, when spatial sparse sampling is carried out, a ghost normally appears in the imaging results due to the high side lobes generated in the azimuth. To address this issue, a technique is introduced in this paper to recover the blank data through amplitude and phase compensation based on the correlation between sparse array sampling through adjacent points. Firstly, the data sampled by the sparse array is compressed in the range direction to obtain the expected data slices in the same range direction. Then, the blank element of the slice is compensated for with amplitude and phase to obtain full aperture data. Finally, the matched filter method is used to aid in the image reconstruction. The simulation results verified that the method proposed in this paper can effectively reconstruct the image under two kinds of sparse sampling conditions. Thus, a simple single-input single-output (SISO) synthetic aperture radar imaging test bench is established. Compared with the results of a 1 mm (1/4 λ) sampling interval, the quality of the reconstructed image under the condition of a 4 mm (1 λ) sampling interval still stands using our proposed method. Demonstrated by the experiment, the normalized root-mean-square error(NMSE) is 5.75%. Additionally, when the spatial sampling points are sampled randomly with 30% of the full sampling condition, this method can also restore and reconstruct the image with high quality. Due to the decrease of sampling points, the data volume can be reduced, which is beneficial for improving the scanning speed and alleviating the pressure of data transmission for near-field high resolution SAR imaging systems. The demand for cost-efficient manufacturing of complex metal components has driven research for metal Additive Manufacturing (AM) such as Wire + Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM). WAAM enables automated, time- and material-efficient manufacturing of metal parts. To strengthen these benefits, the demand for robotically deployed in-process Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) has risen, aiming to replace current manually deployed inspection techniques after completion of the part. This work presents a synchronized multi-robot WAAM and NDE cell aiming to achieve (1) defect detection in-process, (2) enable possible in-process repair and (3) prevent costly scrappage or rework of completed defective builds. The deployment of the NDE during a deposition process is achieved through real-time position control of robots based on sensor input. A novel high-temperature capable, dry-coupled phased array ultrasound transducer (PAUT) roller-probe device is used for the NDE inspection. The dry-coupled sensor is tailored for coupling with an as-built high-temperature WAAM surface at an applied force and speed. The demonstration of the novel ultrasound in-process defect detection approach, presented in this paper, was performed on a titanium WAAM straight sample containing an intentionally embedded tungsten tube reflectors with an internal diameter of 1.0 mm. The ultrasound data were acquired after a pre-specified layer, in-process, employing the Full Matrix Capture (FMC) technique for subsequent post-processing using the adaptive Total Focusing Method (TFM) imaging algorithm assisted by a surface reconstruction algorithm based on the Synthetic Aperture Focusing Technique (SAFT). The presented results show a sufficient signal-to-noise ratio. Synthetic aperture sonar (SAS) and interferometric synthetic aperture sonar (InSAS) have a range layover phenomenon during underwater observation, the AUV-mounted circular synthetic aperture sonar (CSAS) system, that insonifies targets using multiple circular scans that vary in height and can eliminate the layover phenomenon. However, this observation method is time-consuming and difficult to compensate. To solve this problem, the circular array synthetic aperture sonar (CASAS) based on the equivalent phase center was established for unmanned surface vehicles. Corresponding to the echo signal model of circular array synthetic aperture sonar, a novel three-dimensional imaging algorithm was derived. Firstly, the echo datacube was processed by signal calibration with near-field to far-field transformation and grid interpolation. Then, the sparse recover method was adopted to achieve the scattering coefficient in the height direction by sparse Bayesian learning. Thirdly, the Fourier slice theorem was adopted to obtain the 2D image of the ground plane. After the reconstruction of all height slice cells was accomplished, the final 3D image was obtained. Numerical simulations and experiments using the USV-mounted CASAS system were performed. The imaging results verify the effectiveness of the 3D imaging algorithm for the proposed model and validate the feasibility of CASAS applied in underwater target imaging and detection. Due to the strict aircraft safety requirements and the electromagnetic environment around an airport, using too many active detection methods should be avoided. Using an aircraft's microwave radiation signal detection is very advantageous because it does not actively emit signals and has a strong cloud penetration, suitable for all-weather observation. This paper introduces a synthetic aperture microwave radiation system for monitoring the take-off and landing of civil aircraft, which is characterized by real-time two-dimensional imaging, and the image refresh rate can reach 10 ms, which meets the high refresh rate requirements for aircraft imaging. Applicable system parameters and antenna array distribution scheme and imaging algorithm are given. Then the paper focuses on the error analysis and correction method of the system. The correction method is simple and fast, which avoids the disadvantage that the error needs to be corrected regularly in the laboratory environment, and is suitable for airport application. Finally, the simulation and experimental results show that this technology can be used for real-time monitoring of civil aircraft during take-off and landing, and it is a practical means to assisting landing. Landslides are the most catastrophic geological hazard in hilly areas. The present work intends to identify landslide susceptibility along Karakorum Highway (KKH) in Northern Pakistan, using landslide susceptibility mapping (LSM). To compare and predict the connection between causative factors and landslides, the random forest (RF), extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost), k nearest neighbor (KNN) and naive Bayes (NB) models were used in this research. Interferometric synthetic aperture radar persistent scatterer interferometry (PS-InSAR) technology was used to explore the displacement movement of retrieved models. Initially, 332 landslide areas alongside the Karakorum Highway were found to generate the landslide inventory map using various data. The landslides were categorized into two sections for validation and training, of 30% and 70%. For susceptibility mapping, thirteen landslide-condition factors were created. The area under curve (AUC) of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve technique was utilized for accuracy comparison, yielding 83.08, 82.15, 80.31, and 72.92% accuracy for RF, XGBoost, KNN, and NB, respectively. The PS-InSAR technique demonstrated a high deformation velocity along the line of sight (LOS) in model-sensitive areas. The PS-InSAR technique was used to evaluate the slope deformation velocity, which can be used to improve the LSM for the research region. The RF technique yielded superior findings, integrating with the PS-InSAR outcomes to provide the region with a new landslide susceptibility map. Ground-based synthetic aperture radar interferometry (GB-InSAR) enables the continuous monitoring of areal deformation and can thus provide near-real-time control of the overall deformation state of dam surfaces. In the continuous small-scale deformation monitoring of a reservoir dam structure by GB-InSAR, the ground-based synthetic aperture radar (GB-SAR) image acquisition may be interrupted by multiple interfering factors, such as severe changes in the meteorological conditions of the monitoring area and radar equipment failures. As a result, the observed phases before and after the interruption cannot be directly connected, and the original spatiotemporal datum for the deformation measurement is lost, making the follow-up monitoring results unreliable. In this study, a multi-threshold strategy was first adopted to select coherent point targets (CPTs) by using successive GB-SAR image sequences. Then, we developed differential GB-InSAR with image subsets based on the CPTs to solve the dam surface deformation before and after aberrant interruptions. Finally, a deformation monitoring experiment was performed on an actual large reservoir dam. Accurate and efficient moving target imaging is an important challenge for targets recognition in current synthetic aperture radar (SAR) combined with a ground moving target indication (GMTI) system. As the key but unknown parameter, the Doppler rates are estimated conventionally by searching any possible values for moving targets imaging. However, this conventional estimation method suffers from low accuracy or low efficiency due to the searching procedure. Focusing on these, we present a method to efficiently image the moving targets without the Doppler rate by Doppler delayed interferometry, and the imaged localization, which is parameterized pseudo-localization, is used to estimate the Doppler rate. In order to improve the estimation accuracy, an improved method based on the Newton method of approximation is proposed by exploiting the unused amplitude information. Compared with the conventional methods, the proposed improved method capable of high accuracy and low computation complexity simultaneously can meet the accurate and efficient requirements in the practical applications. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is a well-established and powerful imaging technique for acquiring high-spatial-resolution images of the Earth's surface. With the development of beam steering techniques, sliding spotlight and staring spotlight modes have been employed to support high-spatial-resolution applications. In addition to this strengthened high-spatial-resolution and wide-swath capability, high-temporal-resolution (short repeat-observation interval) represents a key capability for numerous applications. However, conventional SAR systems are limited in that the same patch can only be illuminated for several seconds within a single pass. This paper considers a novel high-squint-angle system intended to acquire high-spatial-resolution spaceborne SAR images with repeat-observation intervals varying from tens of seconds to several minutes within a single pass. However, an exponentially increased range cell migration would arise and lead to a conflict between the receive window and 'blind ranges'. An efficient data acquisition technique for high-temporal-resolution, high-spatial-resolution and high-squint-angle spaceborne SAR, in which the pulse repetition frequency (PRF) is continuously varied according to the changing slant range, is presented in this paper. This technique allows echo data to remain in the receive window instead of conflicting with the transmitted pulse or nadir echo. Considering the precision of hardware, a compromise and practical strategy is also proposed. Furthermore, a detailed performance analysis of range ambiguities is provided with respect to parameters of TerraSAR-X. For strong point-like targets, the range ambiguity of this technique would be better than that of uniform PRF technique. For this innovative technique, a resampling strategy and modified imaging algorithm have been developed to handle the non-uniformly sampled echo data. This paper presents a novel Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar Imaging (ISAR) algorithm based on a new sparse prior, known as the logarithmic Laplacian prior. The newly proposed logarithmic Laplacian prior has a narrower main lobe with higher tail values than the Laplacian prior, which helps to achieve performance improvement on sparse representation. The logarithmic Laplacian prior is used for ISAR imaging within the Bayesian framework to achieve better focused radar image. In the proposed method of ISAR imaging, the phase errors are jointly estimated based on the minimum entropy criterion to accomplish autofocusing. The maximum a posterior (MAP) estimation and the maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) are utilized to estimate the model parameters to avoid manually tuning process. Additionally, the fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and Hadamard product are used to minimize the required computational efficiency. Experimental results based on both simulated and measured data validate that the proposed algorithm outperforms the traditional sparse ISAR imaging algorithms in terms of resolution improvement and noise suppression.
