Abstract

Chapter 18 of the book "Seven Going on Seventeen: Tween Studies in the Culture of Girlhood," edited by Claudia Mitchell and Jacqueline Reid-Walsh is presented. It examines the metaphoric and ideological content of the television program "Sailor Moon" and its impact on tween girls. The assumption made is that multicultural exchange can enrich narrative resources for personal and cultural transformation. The character of Sailor Moon is described as realistically inconsistent.
