This article discusses papers included in the current issue. Each article deals with contrasting fields of expertise, identified and described by three ethnographically motivated anthropologists. The articles include "Counting llamas and accounting for people: livestock, land and citizens in southern Bolivia," by Maggie Bolton; "Transformative capacity, information technology, and the making of business ‘experts'," by Hannah Knox et al; and "Subjectivity, visual technology, and public culture: watching the ethnographic film, Malanggan Labadama in New Ireland," by Karen Sykes.
