This paper analyses the structures of covariance functions of digital electroencephalography measurement vectors and digital vectors of two coronavirus images. For this research, we used the measurement results of 30-channel electroencephalography (E1–E30) and digital vectors of images of two SARS-CoV-2 variants (cor2 and cor4), where the magnitudes of intensity of the electroencephalography parameters and the parameters of the digital images of coronaviruses were encoded. The estimators of cross-covariance functions of the digital electroencephalography measurements' vectors and the digital vectors of the coronavirus images and the estimators of auto-covariance functions of separate vectors were derived by applying random functions constructed according to the vectors' parameter measurement data files. The estimators of covariance functions were derived by changing the values of the quantised interval k on the time and image pixel scales. The symmetric matrices of correlation coefficients were calculated to estimate the level of dependencies between the electroencephalography measurement results' vectors and the digital vectors of the coronavirus images. The graphical images of the normalised cross-covariance functions for the electroencephalography measurement results' vectors and the digital vectors of the coronavirus images within the period of all measurements are asymmetric. For all calculations, a computer program was developed by applying a package of Matlab procedures. A probabilistic interdependence between the results of the electroencephalography measurements and the parameters of the coronavirus vectors, as well as their variation on the time and image pixel scales, was established. Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) continues to spread throughout the world, and it is necessary for us to implement effective methods to prevent and control the spread of the epidemic. In this paper, we propose a new model called Spatial–Temporal Attention Graph Convolutional Networks (STAGCN) that can analyze the long-term trend of the COVID-19 epidemic with high accuracy. The STAGCN employs a spatial graph attention network layer and a temporal gated attention convolutional network layer to capture the spatial and temporal features of infectious disease data, respectively. While the new model inherits the symmetric "space-time space" structure of Spatial–Temporal Graph Convolutional Networks (STGCN), it enhances its ability to identify infectious diseases using spatial–temporal correlation features by replacing the graph convolutional network layer with a graph attention network layer that can pay more attention to important features based on adaptively adjusted feature weights at different time points. The experimental results show that our model has the lowest error rate compared to other models. The paper also analyzes the prediction results of the model using interpretable analysis methods to provide a more reliable guide for the decision-making process during epidemic prevention and control. In many disciplines, including pattern recognition, data mining, machine learning, image analysis, and bioinformatics, data clustering is a common analytical tool for data statistics. The majority of conventional clustering techniques are slow to converge and frequently get stuck in local optima. In this regard, population-based meta-heuristic algorithms are used to overcome the problem of getting trapped in local optima and increase the convergence speed. An asymmetric approach to clustering the asymmetric self-organizing map is proposed in this paper. The Interactive Autodidactic School (IAS) is one of these population-based metaheuristic and asymmetry algorithms used to solve the clustering problem. The chaotic IAS algorithm also increases exploitation and generates a better population. In the proposed model, ten different chaotic maps and the intra-cluster summation fitness function have been used to improve the results of the IAS. According to the simulation findings, the IAS based on the Chebyshev chaotic function outperformed other chaotic IAS iterations and other metaheuristic algorithms. The efficacy of the proposed model is finally highlighted by comparing its performance with optimization algorithms in terms of fitness function and convergence rate. In this paper, a hybrid variable-order mathematical model for multi-vaccination COVID-19 is analyzed. The hybrid variable-order derivative is defined as a linear combination of the variable-order integral of Riemann–Liouville and the variable-order Caputo derivative. A symmetry parameter σ is presented in order to be consistent with the physical model problem. The existence, uniqueness, boundedness and positivity of the proposed model are given. Moreover, the stability of the proposed model is discussed. The theta finite difference method with the discretization of the hybrid variable-order operator is developed for solving numerically the model problem. This method can be explicit or fully implicit with a large stability region depending on values of the factor Θ. The convergence and stability analysis of the proposed method are proved. Moreover, the fourth order generalized Runge–Kutta method is also used to study the proposed model. Comparative studies and numerical examples are presented. We found that the proposed model is also more general than the model in the previous study; the results obtained by the proposed method are more stable than previous research in this area. In the past few years, the world has suffered from an untreated infectious epidemic disease (COVID-19), caused by the so-called coronavirus, which was regarded as one of the most dangerous and viral infections. From this point of view, the major objective of this intended paper is to propose a new mathematical model for the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) outbreak by operating the Caputo fractional-order derivative operator instead of the traditional operator. The behavior of the positive solution of COVID-19 with the initial condition will be investigated, and some new studies on the spread of infection from one individual to another will be discussed as well. This would surely deduce some important conclusions in preventing major outbreaks of such disease. The dynamics of the fractional-order COVID-19 mathematical model will be shown graphically using the fractional Euler Method. The results will be compared with some other concluded results obtained by exploring the conventional model and then shedding light on understanding its trends. The symmetrical aspects of the proposed dynamical model are analyzed, such as the disease-free equilibrium point and the endemic equilibrium point coupled with their stabilities. Through performing some numerical comparisons, it will be proved that the results generated from using the fractional-order model are significantly closer to some real data than those of the integer-order model. In this paper, we study a type of disease that unknowingly spreads for a long time, but by default, spreads only to a minimal population. This disease is not usually fatal and often goes unnoticed. We propose and derive a novel epidemic mathematical model to describe such a disease, utilizing a fractional differential system under the Atangana–Baleanu–Caputo derivative. This model deals with the transmission between susceptible, exposed, infected, and recovered classes. After formulating the model, equilibrium points as well as stability and feasibility analyses are stated. Then, we present results concerning the existence of positivity in the solutions and a sensitivity analysis. Consequently, computational experiments are conducted and discussed via proper criteria. From our experimental results, we find that the loss and regain of immunity result in the gain and loss of infections. Epidemic models can be linked to symmetry and asymmetry from distinct points of view. By using our novel approach, much research may be expected in epidemiology and other areas, particularly concerning COVID-19, to state how immunity develops after being infected by this virus. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), which affects the whole world, continues to spread. This disease has infected and killed millions of people worldwide. To limit the rate of spread of the disease, early detection should be provided and then the infected person should be quarantined. This paper proposes a Deep Learning-based application for early and accurate diagnosis of COVID-19. Compared to other studies, this application's biggest difference and contribution are that it uses Tree Seed Algorithm (TSA)-optimized Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to classify deep architectural features. Previous studies generally use fully connected layers for end-to-end learning classification. However, this study proves that even relatively simple AlexNet features can be classified more accurately with the TSA-ANN structure. The proposed hybrid model provides diagnosis with 98.54% accuracy for COVID-19 disease, which shows asymmetric distribution on Computed Tomography (CT) images. Ever since the World Health Organization gave the name COVID-19 to the coronavirus pneumonia disease, much of the world has been severely impact by the pandemic socially and economically. In this paper, the mathematical modeling and stability analyses in terms of the susceptible–exposed–infected–removed (SEIR) model with a nonlinear incidence rate, along with media interaction effects, are presented. The sliding mode control methodology is used to design a robust closed loop control of the epidemiological system, where the property of symmetry in the Lyapunov function plays a vital role in achieving the global asymptotic stability in the output. Two policies are considered: the first considers only the governmental interaction, the second considers only the vaccination policy. Due to false negative results of the real-time Reverse Transcriptase-Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test, the complemental practices such as computed tomography (CT) and X-ray in combination with RT-PCR are discussed to achieve a more accurate diagnosis of COVID-19 in clinical practice. Since radiology includes visual understanding as well as decision making under limited conditions such as uncertainty, urgency, patient burden, and hospital facilities, mistakes are inevitable. Therefore, there is an immediate requirement to carry out further investigation and develop new accurate detection and identification methods to provide automatically quantitative evaluation of COVID-19. In this paper, we propose a new computer-aided diagnosis application for COVID-19 detection using deep learning techniques. A new technique, which receives symmetric X-ray data as the input, is presented in this study by combining Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) with Ant Lion Optimization Algorithm (ALO) and Multiclass Naïve Bayes Classifier (NB). Moreover, several other classifiers such as Softmax, Support Vector Machines (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) and Decision Tree (DT) are combined with CNN. The promising results of these classifiers are evaluated and presented for accuracy, precision, and F1-score metrics. NB classifier with Ant Lion Optimization Algorithm and CNN produced the best results with 98.31% accuracy, 100% precision and 98.25% F1-score and with the lowest execution time. In this paper, a five-parameter distribution, Khalil's new generalized Weibull distribution, is defined and studied in detail. Some mathematical and statistical functions are studied. The effects of shape parameters on skewness and kurtosis are studied. Extensions for density and distribution functions are provided. Estimation of the intended model parameters based on ranked samples is investigated. The behavior of the maximum likelihood estimators is examined using a Monte Carlo simulation. In order to predict unique symmetric and asymmetric patterns and illustrate the applicability and potential of the intended distribution, a COVID-19 dataset is analyzed. This paper discusses and provides some analytical studies for a modified fractional-order SIRD mathematical model of the COVID-19 epidemic in the sense of the Caputo–Katugampola fractional derivative that allows treating of the biological models of infectious diseases and unifies the Hadamard and Caputo fractional derivatives into a single form. By considering the vaccine parameter of the suspected population, we compute and derive several stability results based on some symmetrical parameters that satisfy some conditions that prevent the pandemic. The paper also investigates the problem of the existence and uniqueness of solutions for the modified SIRD model. The infectious disease COVID-19 has swept across the world in 2020, and it continues to cause massive losses of life and severe economic problems in all countries. Providing emergency supplies such as protective medical equipment and materials required to secure people's livelihood is thus currently prioritized by governments. Establishing a reliable emergency logistics system is critical in this regard. This paper used the Delphi method to design a formal decision structure to assess emergency logistics system reliability (ELSR) by obtaining a consensus from a panel of experts. Assessing ELSR is a typical multiple-attribute decision making (MADM) problem, and the related MADM methods are usually on the basis of symmetry principles. A hybrid MADM model, called the Decision Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory (DEMATEL)-based Analytical Network Process (D-ANP), was developed to identify the critical factors influencing ELSR. An analysis of empirical evidence showed that the emergency logistics command and coordination system and the emergency material supply system play important roles in ELSR, while the emergency logistics transportation and distribution system and the emergency information system are not so important. This conclusion is different from previous research about traditional disaster emergency logistics. Moreover, the cause–effect relationships among the key factors indicated that the system of command and coordination for emergency logistics and the supply system for emergency materials should be improved. Accordingly, effective suggestions for emergency logistics services for epidemic prevention are provided in this paper. The main contributions of this paper are (1) establishing a comprehensive and systematic evaluating index of ELSR for epidemic prevention; (2) employing a kind of structured, namely D-ANP, to identify the critical factors with non-commensurable and conflicting (competing) characteristics; and (3) comparing the differences of reliable criteria between the emergency logistics of epidemic prevention and the traditional disaster emergency logistics. The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is putting healthcare systems across the world under unprecedented and increasing pressure according to the World Health Organization (WHO). With the advances in computer algorithms and especially Artificial Intelligence, the detection of this type of virus in the early stages will help in fast recovery and help in releasing the pressure off healthcare systems. In this paper, a GAN with deep transfer learning for coronavirus detection in chest X-ray images is presented. The lack of datasets for COVID-19 especially in chest X-rays images is the main motivation of this scientific study. The main idea is to collect all the possible images for COVID-19 that exists until the writing of this research and use the GAN network to generate more images to help in the detection of this virus from the available X-rays images with the highest accuracy possible. The dataset used in this research was collected from different sources and it is available for researchers to download and use it. The number of images in the collected dataset is 307 images for four different types of classes. The classes are the COVID-19, normal, pneumonia bacterial, and pneumonia virus. Three deep transfer models are selected in this research for investigation. The models are the Alexnet, Googlenet, and Restnet18. Those models are selected for investigation through this research as it contains a small number of layers on their architectures, this will result in reducing the complexity, the consumed memory and the execution time for the proposed model. Three case scenarios are tested through the paper, the first scenario includes four classes from the dataset, while the second scenario includes 3 classes and the third scenario includes two classes. All the scenarios include the COVID-19 class as it is the main target of this research to be detected. In the first scenario, the Googlenet is selected to be the main deep transfer model as it achieves 80.6% in testing accuracy. In the second scenario, the Alexnet is selected to be the main deep transfer model as it achieves 85.2% in testing accuracy, while in the third scenario which includes two classes (COVID-19, and normal), Googlenet is selected to be the main deep transfer model as it achieves 100% in testing accuracy and 99.9% in the validation accuracy. This paper presents the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and other latest technologies that were employed to fight the recent pandemic (i.e., novel coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19)). These technologies assisted the early detection/diagnosis, trends analysis, intervention planning, healthcare burden forecasting, comorbidity analysis, and mitigation and control, to name a few. The key-enablers of these technologies was data that was obtained from heterogeneous sources (i.e., social networks (SN), internet of (medical) things (IoT/IoMT), cellular networks, transport usage, epidemiological investigations, and other digital/sensing platforms). To this end, we provide an insightful overview of the role of data-driven analytics leveraging AI in the era of COVID-19. Specifically, we discuss major services that AI can provide in the context of COVID-19 pandemic based on six grounds, (i) AI role in seven different epidemic containment strategies (a.k.a non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs)), (ii) AI role in data life cycle phases employed to control pandemic via digital solutions, (iii) AI role in performing analytics on heterogeneous types of data stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic, (iv) AI role in the healthcare sector in the context of COVID-19 pandemic, (v) general-purpose applications of AI in COVID-19 era, and (vi) AI role in drug design and repurposing (e.g., iteratively aligning protein spikes and applying three/four-fold symmetry to yield a low-resolution candidate template) against COVID-19. Further, we discuss the challenges involved in applying AI to the available data and privacy issues that can arise from personal data transitioning into cyberspace. We also provide a concise overview of other latest technologies that were increasingly applied to limit the spread of the ongoing pandemic. Finally, we discuss the avenues of future research in the respective area. This paper presents an uncertain logistic growth model to analyse and predict the evolution of the cumulative number of COVID-19 infection in Czech Republic. Some fundamental knowledge about the uncertain regression analysis are reviewed firstly. Stochastic regression analysis is invalid to model cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Czech Republic, by considering the disturbance term as random variables, because that the normality test and the identical distribution test of residuals are not passed, and the residual plot does not look like a null plot in the sense of probability theory. In this case, the uncertain logistic growth model is applied by characterizing the disturbance term as uncertain variables. Then parameter estimation, residual analysis, the forecast value and confidence interval are studied. Additionally, the uncertain hypothesis test is proposed to evaluate the appropriateness of the fitted logistic growth model and estimated disturbance term. The analysis and prediction for the cumulative number of COVID-19 infection in Czech Republic can propose theoretical support for the disease control and prevention. Wearing a mask by the general public has been a controversial issue from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic as the public authorities have had mixed messages, either advising people not to wear masks if uninfected, to wear as a protective measure, to wear them only when inside a building/room with insufficient air flow or to wear them in all the public places. To date, the governments have had different policies regarding mask-wearing by the general public depending on the COVID-19 pandemic evolution. In this context, the paper analyzes the general public's opinion regarding mask-wearing for the one-year period starting from 9 January 2020, when the first tweet regarding mask-wearing in the COVID-19 context has been posted. Classical machine learning and deep learning algorithms have been considered in analyzing the 8,795,633 tweets extracted. A random sample of 29,613 tweets has been extracted and annotated. The tweets containing news and information related to mask-wearing have been included in the neutral category, while the ones containing people's opinions (for or against) have been marked using a symmetrical approach into in favor and against categories. Based on the analysis, it has been determined that most of the mask tweets are in the area of in favor or neutral, while a smaller percentage of tweets and retweets are in the against category. This paper addresses the problem of describing the spread of COVID-19 by a mathematical model introducing all the possible control actions as prevention (informative campaign, use of masks, social distancing, vaccination) and medication. The model adopted is similar to SEIQR, with the infected patients split into groups of asymptomatic subjects and isolated ones. This distinction is particularly important in the current pandemic, due to the fundamental the role of asymptomatic subjects in the virus diffusion. The influence of the control actions is considered in analysing the model, from the calculus of the equilibrium points to the determination of the reproduction number. This choice is motivated by the fact that the available organised data have been collected since from the end of February 2020, and almost simultaneously containment measures, increasing in typology and effectiveness, have been applied. The characteristics of COVID-19, not fully understood yet, suggest an asymmetric diffusion among countries and among categories of subjects. Referring to the Italian situation, the containment measures, as applied by the population, have been identified, showing their relation with the government's decisions; this allows the study of possible scenarios, comparing the impact of different possible choices. In this paper, we use an SIRD model to analyze the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain, caused by a new virus called SARS-CoV-2 from the coronavirus family. This model is governed by a nonlinear system of differential equations that allows us to detect trends in the pandemic and make reliable predictions of the evolution of the infection in the short term. This work shows this evolution of the infection in various changing stages throughout the period of maximum alert in Spain. It also shows a quick adaptation of the parameters that define the disease in several stages. In addition, the model confirms the effectiveness of quarantine to avoid the exponential expansion of the pandemic and reduce the number of deaths. The analysis shows good short-term predictions using the SIRD model, which are useful to influence the evolution of the epidemic and thus carry out actions that help reduce its harmful effects. The social distancing imposed by the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, has affected people's everyday lives and has resulted in companies changing the way they conduct business. The airline industry has been continually adapting since the novel coronavirus appeared. A series of airlines have changed their airplane boarding and passenger seat allocation process to increase their passengers' safety. Many suggest a minimum social distance among passengers in the aisle while boarding. Some airlines have reduced their airplanes' capacities by keeping the middle seats empty. Recent literature indicates that the Reverse Pyramid boarding method provides favorable values for boarding time and passenger health metrics when compared to other boarding methods. This paper analyses the extent to which aisle social distancing, the quantity of carry-on luggage, and an airline's relative preferences for different performance metrics influence the optimal number of passengers to board the airplane in each of three boarding groups when the Reverse Pyramid method is used and the middle seats are empty. We also investigate the resulting impact on the average boarding time and health risks to boarding passengers. We use an agent-based model and stochastic simulation approach to evaluate various levels of aisle social distancing among passengers and the quantity of luggage carried aboard the airplane. When minimizing boarding time is the primary objective of an airline, for a given value of aisle social distance, decreasing the carry-on luggage volumes increases the optimal number of boarding group 1 passengers and decreases the optimal number of group 2 passengers with aisle seats; for a given volume of luggage, an increase in aisle social distance is associated with more passengers in group 1 and more aisle seat passengers in group 2. When minimizing the health risk to aisle seat passengers or to window seat passengers, the optimal solution results from assigning an equal number of window seat passengers to groups 1 and 2 and an equal number of aisle seat passengers to groups 2 and 3. This solution is robust to changes in luggage volume and the magnitude of aisle social distance. Furthermore, across all luggage and aisle social distancing scenarios, the solution reduces the health risk to aisle seat passengers between 22.76% and 35.31% while increasing average boarding time by less than 3% in each scenario. This paper firstly studies an SIR (susceptible-infectious-recovered) epidemic model without demography and with no disease mortality under both total and under partial quarantine of the susceptible subpopulation or of both the susceptible and the infectious ones in order to satisfy the hospital availability requirements on bed disposal and other necessary treatment means for the seriously infectious subpopulations. The seriously infectious individuals are assumed to be a part of the total infectious being described by a time-varying proportional function. A time-varying upper-bound of those seriously infected individuals has to be satisfied as objective by either a total confinement or partial quarantine intervention of the susceptible subpopulation. Afterwards, a new extended SEIR (susceptible-exposed-infectious-recovered) epidemic model, which is referred to as an SEIAR (susceptible-exposed-symptomatic infectious-asymptomatic infectious-recovered) epidemic model with demography and disease mortality is given and focused on so as to extend the above developed ideas on the SIR model. A proportionally gain in the model parameterization is assumed to distribute the transition from the exposed to the infectious into the two infectious individuals (namely, symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals). Such a model is evaluated under total or partial quarantines of all or of some of the subpopulations which have the effect of decreasing the number of contagions. The novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has imposed the need for a series of social distancing restrictions worldwide to mitigate the scourge of the COVID-19 pandemic. This applies to many domains, including airplane boarding and seat assignments. As airlines are considering their passengers' safety during the pandemic, boarding methods should be evaluated both in terms of social distancing norms and the resulting efficiency for the airlines. The present paper analyzes the impact of a series of restrictions that have been imposed or mooted worldwide on the boarding methods used by the airlines, featuring the use of jet-bridges and one-door boarding. To compare the efficacy of classical airplane boarding methods with respect to new social distancing norms, five metrics were used to evaluate their performance. One metric is the time to complete the boarding of the airplane. The other four metrics concern passenger health and reflect the potential exposure to the virus from other passengers through the air and surfaces (e.g., headrests and luggage) touched by passengers. We use the simulation platform in NetLogo to test six common boarding methods under various conditions. The back-to-front by row boarding method results in the longest time to complete boarding but has the advantage of providing the lowest health risk for two metrics. Those two metrics are based on passengers potentially infecting those passengers previously seated in the rows they traverse. Interestingly, those two risks are reduced for most boarding methods when the social distance between adjacent passengers advancing down the aisle is increased, thus indicating an unanticipated benefit stemming from this form of social distancing. The modified reverse pyramid by half zone method provides the shortest time to the completing boarding of the airplane and—along with the WilMA boarding method—provides the lowest health risk stemming from potential infection resulting from seat interferences.
